The Philadelphia Eagles fell behind early to the Giants and by the fourth quarter faced a 21-point deficit. But the Eagles did not quit, scoring touchdowns on three straight drives in the fourth quarter. A Giants out of bounds punt was the only thing separating the teams from overtime. However, the Giants mistakingly punted the ball in bounds and Philadelphia's DeSean Jackson took advantage, returning it for a touchdown and securing the win for the Eagles. More than simply embarrassing their division rival, the Eagles win also helped keep the then 9-4 Giants out of the playoffs.

Classic Bully move....Coughlin was known for being a hardass.....should been yelling at his players who couldn't make the tackle.
He was a hardass, its just in multiple articles after this game Coughlin told Dodge to "Kick it out of bounds" and he kicks it literally in the middle of the field on a line drive. The exact opposite of what was suppose to happen. Come on Dodge!!
@@kylehall79 Yes, Coughlin might have asked Dodge to do that, but listen to what the commentator was saying before the punt:
"I don't think Tom Coughlin is real comfortable asking Matt Dodge to directional kick. I mean, he can bomb it, but even Tom Coughlin said, 'Trying to angle it and ask him to do certain things at this stage of his career is difficult for him.'"
So, if Coughlin uses a punter in this situation who Coughlin knows has a hard time to directional kick the ball, then I would say Coughlin deserved it. You knew Dodge had problems to directional kick the ball and you still use him in a critical situation like this? Yes, bad kick, but Coughlin's own fault.
I don't think that Matt Dodge is the only bad guy in this regard. The defense that 21 points are reversed in the remaining 7 minutes and the offense that is 4th down many times is also bad!

This basically ended the career of the Giants punter, Matt Dodge. He was a rookie this season and was cut before the start of the next season, never played in the NFL again.

Speaking as a Giants who watched this game in Disney World btw, this was the most devastating game I've ever watched. This Eagles team was absolutely terrifying that year because they could literally go off like this at any time.

Watched it live on the Chinese flat-screen and it was truly epic. They failed to mention that at least half the stands were filled with Eagles fans, which is typical...and most had left the horrible stadium by early 4th quarter.

To me, the very best part of all of this is seeing Coughlin slam his clipboard down on the ground as he realizes Jackson will score to win. You can see it on the sideline as Jackson passes him by.

this 2010 eagles team was one of my favorite seasons. i thought they would make a little more noise in the playoffs that year. this was their last win that year. the packers beat them in the wildcard and went on to win the super bowl. the season started and ended losing to the packers. good luck in the super bowl later today. I've been waiting 40 years.

This Giants defense started to decline during this game. This defense was ranked second in the NFL and after this game during Perry Fewell’s time in NY this defense was straight up average to terrible.

Just unfortunate that they didn't have a real quality candidate lined up - it seemed it was a "suck it and see" approach to the replacement - with the result that we have been set back 5 years (at least) in terms of getting back to the final weeks in January...

Thanks for posting this video. A heartfelt thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles and in particular D. Jackson for that creative punt return. And to the punter Dodge of the New York Giants for not kicking that punt out of bounds as he was supposed to do. That series of events, and final game result allowed the Green Bay Packers to participate in the NFL Playoffs as a Wild Card Team that season. If the Giants won, they were out of the post season. Once in, they had one of the greatest playoff runs in NFL history. Going on the road to Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Chicago and pulling out wins. Then on the road to Arlington, Texas - home field of the cowboys, and defeating the 6 time Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Who had won 2 of those Super Bowls in the past 3 years. There they captured there 4th Super Bowl Championship. In sports sometimes a past foe can do you a favor whether they meant to, or not. This opportunity allowed Aaron Rodger’s to demonstrate what he and the rest of the Green Bay Packers roster and organization were capable of achieving. Sharing the revenues equally between all the NFL teams (unlike Major League Baseball) was a brilliant decision. This wisdom allows a professional sports team from the US’s smallest market (Green Bay, WI) to compete on a level playing field. All teams have an opportunity to compete, but there is no guarantee of success. Having intelligent. motivated, stable management, quality coaches and players and a game plan, and long term strategy can be a winning formula. Title town is not a fluke. Go Pack Go!

He got a bad snap, still bombed a kick downfield. Gave Desean a ball that he initially dropped. Wasn't him who missed all those tackles on the return, or let up 21 points to even set this up. If anything this loss is like 1% his fault
Drew Grahn he was instructed to kick it out of bounds. Yes something went wrong on the snap, so what? he still kicked it on a line right to desean and gave him so much time to set up that even after dropping it he took it to the house. He can literally kick it out of bounds anywhere on the field and it’s better than what he did. Jackson simply can’t touch the ball, and on a line drive punt no less!
Though not in the current edit,a prior version of the wikipedia article suggests he attempted to make another team's roster in training camp at least once(maybe multiple times)after being beat out by Weatherford prior to their most recent SB season.
