      Hello! Thank you, glad you enjoyed my video. You could perhaps scan your photos onto thin paper or a napkin taped to printer paper and then découpage with that. It works best with a laser printer as the ink doesn't run when wet unlike an ink jet printer. One day I might do a video about it but I haven't currently got a laser printer. An actual photo on photo paper would be too thick. Hope this helps 🌸.

    • @suzyscrafts
      @suzyscrafts  3 месяца назад

      Hi, i don't usually bother with saucers. Mod podge wouldn't be strong enough to seal it. If you plan to put live plants with water. I think you would need to use an oil based varnish (will turn yellow over time) or a boat varnish. Best if putting a live plant in your pot to keep it in a plastic pot as a liner or seal the inside with one of the above mentioned.

    hi Suz, this looks so good, thank you! just want to ask if the porter's paint can go on a glass jar as you did with chalk paint in the other video? I do like the egg shell finish 😊 and can you mix students acrylic paint into white chalk paint to get a colored background?

    • @suzyscrafts
      @suzyscrafts  Год назад +1

      Hello and thanks for watching. I haven't tried the Porter's paints on glass myself. The test pots I use are quite a matt sort of paint finish so they maybe okay but you would need to do a test to see if they stick. I wouldn't recommend mixing student acrylics into chalk paint as they have different formulations. You can get the chalk paints in multiple colours these days so you might find one you like.

    Thanks for the video, first time with decoupage. I have a question: Why don't you use a scissor to cut the napkin? 🤔

    • @suzyscrafts
      @suzyscrafts  3 месяца назад +1

      Good question. I find if I cut the napkin rather than tearing it I end up being able to see the hard cut lines once I'm finished. Torn edges seem to disappear into the painted surface more seamlessly.

      Sorry I just saw your question. You could try a boat varnish. But be aware any oil based varnish will yellow over time.

    Your pot is beautiful. I think that I will try this. I have one question. Why do you tear the napkin? Could you use scissors to cut out the section you want to use?

    • @suzyscrafts
      @suzyscrafts  Год назад +1

      Hi Gail, please do give it a try. Its so satisfying. You could cut the napkins but what I find is a torn edge seems to disappear into the surface whereas a cut edge you can see and feel when you're finished. I prefer to make mine look as smooth as possible so that's why I tear the edges.

    Hi Suzy, can you (or anyone) advise plz on where I'm going wrong? I'm new to decoupage & tried the napkin technique on 3 terracotta pots. Ens result is lovely, but i find that no matter how long I leave the glue to set, when I do the 2nd coat on top it disrupts the image & goes soggy. Ive used both Mod Pidge & PVA glue & not overloaded, so I dnt know why this is happening. How long are you meant to leave the 1st coat to dry? Hope you can help. Thanku❤

    • @suzyscrafts
      @suzyscrafts  Год назад

      Hi Julie, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your glue drying. I'm not sure I've had the same problem. Can I ask, is the paper dry when you go to do your top coat of glue? Sometimes when you do the top coat of glue it does moisten the paper so you do need to be gentle in application so that the image doesn't move around. Once that top glue coat is dry you shouldn't have any problem with varnishing. As for how long it takes the glue to dry, that really depends on the temperature. Where I live, in summer it can be dry in minutes. In winter it can take hours.

      @@suzyscrafts Thanks so much for your advice. Like i said, I use either PVA or Mod Podge & let each layer dry accordingly. I put a 2nd payer of PVA on a pot yday, as it felt totally dry, but once I started putting on a thin layer it started shifting the image. I used your cling film method (genius) & smoothed it out thankfully. Decoupage paper seems much more resilient than tissue paper, it seems so fragile to work with. Ive ordered a sealant spray to finish it off, so fingers crossed.🤞

      You're right, decoupage paper is much tougher than tissue paper. Stick with it though. I'm glad the cling wrap tip is helping.
