great trainer Ray Arcel said KO blow of here was the hardest punch he ever saw. it drove Uzcudun's teeth through his mouthguard and lips. Arcel was in Uzcudun's corner for this fight great upload
just finished reading joes autobiography....he writes about this fight... "when he got up i hit him with a left and right to the jaw, sending him against the ropes. i could see his face split open and some of his gold teeth sprinkle down on the canvas. donovan (ref) counted him out on his feet."...."after the fight, trainer whitney bimstien, who worked in uzcudun's corner, told me he never saw anyone hit a man as hard as i hit uzcudun that night."
My father, Jesús, was an avid boxing fan. Being born in the Basque Country, he met Paulino and also "trained" with him out in Rocky Point, Long Island, NY. I wasn't born yet when Paulino fought Joe Louis, but I used to love to hear the stories that my father told about Paulino. In 1976, my father invited me to take a trip to Spain. In Madrid, where Paulino was supposed to be, we tried to find Paulino but couldn't. Too bad. I would have loved to meet this historic boxer. Agur..... Eddie

I do. The more you do anything the better you get at it. Impossible to compare boxers who fought thousands of rounds and hundreds of fights with boxers today. Technique improves and natural talent will only take you so far. In the end a man is a man. A fighting heart can't be trained into a man. Charles sure had that Proverbs 27 :17
Prime Joe beats prime anyone...imho...especially the Brown Bomber of the 38' Schmelling fight. He simply was the full package with knockout power in either hand. He originally retired with a 58-1 record. ^^ Seriously...that's crazy. Unfortunately, Joe's generosity was poorly rewarded by the country he loved...so he was forced out of retirement. Still...he won 8 out of the last 10 fights he fought...ending 66-3, which is still incredible.
Absolutely beyond belief that the quality of the film is so horrendous (certainly NOT the fault of TheGreatA!! His PARENTS probably weren’t even born yet at the time of this fight!!) Louis had already established himself as a coming all-time great after the KOs of Ramage, Carnera (another lousy quality film), Levinsky and Max Baer. NO excuse for the promoter to not put a top-quality film crew on this fight featuring the Great Louis. The fights against Carnera, Levinsky and Baer were all HUGE draws at the gate and it is unconscionable that the Uzcudun fight, another sellout and Louis’ first fight in the Garden, wasn’t memorialized with a film of the quality of the Ramage, Levinsky and Baer fights.

Antes que boxeador fue "Aizkolari". En España un aizkolari es un forzudo en grado máximo.
I was disappointed in the film quality. Very hard to see anything of what was going on here. Let alone missing the knockout.

I wish they had not edited the knockdown punch... 😒😏
I agree it's a terrible film but I was requested to upload it.

The Basque Woodchopper was well past his Best Before Date when he fought Louis.
Looks like home movies considering how far from the ring the camera(s) must've been.
I think prime Joe Louis beats a prime Ezzard Charles but Charles may have been pound for pound the better of the two.
That makes no sense 😂
