    Bought the 2018 2T 252HP Accord brand new and I love this car! At 6`1, I thought I might be cramped -but a great` fit` and exhilarating ride! Very powerful engine response with many features which include paddle shifters and a good-looking profile . Amazing array of performance and technical info at your finger tips!

    What's the point of Acura now that Hondas are getting just as nice (or nicer) than it's "luxury" counterpart?

    • @jbm0866
      @jbm0866 6 лет назад +5

      Angry Whale
      Acura has been pretty irrelevant for some time now. Consider the all new Civic was brought to North America as a 2106 model, yet Acura is STILL (in 2018) selling the ILX based on the previous gen Civic that started life in 2011, and widely believed to be the worst gen Civic.. Pretty sure the TLX is still based on the 2013-2017 Accord as well which isn't quite as bad, but why would you get a TLX instead of an Accord Sport 2.0T? Literally no sane reason..

    • @xdodobrownx
      @xdodobrownx 6 лет назад +6

      Wait for the new generation of Acuras. If the RDX is any inclination. They will be impressive. I can't wait for the TLX Type-S

      For badge snobs. There are a lot of people who wouldn’t by a Honda because they think it’s too common even if it’s nicer/ as nice as the Acura counterpart. Badge snobbery is really the purpose for makes ( such as Honda) to maintain a luxury division! I think it’s a foolish way to think but idk 🤷‍♂️

      Prime Autotainment I did get to drive the 2.0 EXL and it felt comparable to my V6. I am looking at all options including a Mustang GT. Yeah I know both ends of the spectrum but the Accord with 5.7 0-60 is respectable for a daily. Also the Accord will feel more luxurious and will be less than a GT Premium. I'm looking at Camaro as well. Accord may have enough performance to put that grin for the Daily drive.

    Thank you for making this video. I have read a couple articles that say this new Accord isn't selling (comparatively). This despite the fact that the lion's share of reviews claim that this is a really good car in most every respect. I have a theory as to why. In a word - looks. As in, it's not a great looking car. In fact, IMO, it's sort of awkward - A step backwards, as regards looks. The front end is particularly unattractive, IMO, looking as if Honda left it unfinished. I'm referring specifically to the lower center portion of the front. It pains me to say this, as I have
    really liked the look of previous Accords - especially the last couple generations. Unfortunately, I can't get behind the side profile either. From the side it looks like some old GM products from decades ago. And the rear styling looks old to me, too. Again, like some old GM product. I think the lower, wider stance contributes to this, unfortunately. And I'm all for lower and wider - It just doesn't work here.

    It seems that with all the resources, namely cash, Honda had to do anything they wanted with this car, I believe the Mazda 6, namely the turbo-powered trims, are at least equal where it counts and certainly more exclusive (look in any direction and try not to spot a Honda car). With arguably superior engineering and definitely finer-tuning of the chassis, suspension, transmission and motor, the Mazda 6-turbo absolutely handles better and most enthusiasts wouldn't even raise a breath at the mention it's a much more fun car to drive - on any road surface. And this is NOW. Can you imagine what Mazda's going to be turning out in the coming years? It's almost like contemplating Mozart having lived into his 50s!

    • @vladimirtalijan
      @vladimirtalijan Год назад +1

      Something is wrong here :) Mazda 6 is nowhere near 10th gen Accords handling, chasis, suspension, transmission, or motor, and also the seats and space, and that comes from a 50 year old enthusiast who went to the Nurburgring multiple times and plan to move there. Mazda 6 driving feel is significantly worse than even the CL9 Accord (Acura TSX in the US). It's really just an average driving car and it looks more luxury on photos than in real life, while this Accord Touring interior looks more expensive in person than in videos and photos.

    • @seneca451
      @seneca451 Год назад

      @@vladimirtalijan They don't make them anymore but I respectfully disagree - I had a 04 or 05 (forgot which) v6 5sp and loved it. Have you driven or owned one? Their Skyactive system and design language are great, IMO. Glad they parted from Ford awhile back.
      The 3 has a great reputation. Honda's are great - love the new accord look - but Hondas are everywhere. I'm thinking of A Maz crossover for next car.

      Exhaust Sports Auto
      That's exactly where Honda dropped the ball for this generation. The similarly shaped 2019 Buick Regal actually has a similarly sized fastback, (with an actual hatch) a 2.0T and optional AWD. Of course the Accord will likely be the better overall car, but it's crazy to think a Buick (Opel actually) could be competition for the latest Accord...and yes, I'd have a hard time choosing the somewhat expensive Accord Sport 2.0T over the base Stinger with RWD.

  • @jbm0866
    @jbm0866 6 лет назад +8

    The only things "controversial" I can think of are the following 3..
    Honda made it look like a fastback without actually making it one, even Buick (or Opel at least) got that part right with the newest Regal. I think the added utility (combined with the same type cargo cover the Civic hatch uses) would have been appreciated by the traditional Accord buyer.
    The amount of luxury features and performance in the top end Accords pretty much makes Acura irrelevant unless you like the looks of a TLX better, or just have to have a "luxury" badge.
    The fact that it's still just an Accord (even if it's the best one ever in some ways) for near luxury brand money, and unfavorable lease terms compared to the nearest competition.
    Other than that, I'm beginning to get accustomed to the styling as more of them actually hit the road, (looks better in the flesh versus pics imo) and can't wait to drive one eventually, hopefully the Sport 2.0T. Having said that, the new Buick Regal (Opel Insignia) looks great, also has a 2.0T and a real liftback and available AWD (in wagon form as well) and Buick dealers will also actually deal with you. It's likely not as good as the Accord overall, but in my mind it would be a great alternative if your local Honda dealers display their usual arrogance..

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  6 лет назад

      jbm0866 great post! You’re definitely right about seeing it in person versus on screen. I’m assuming Acura will step their game up to keep a lead with features, but who knows. If you drive the 2.0T sport I think you’ll be surprised by its quickness. Surprised me...it’s pretty responsive when it’s in sport mode. Thanks for sharing and watching!

    I drive a 2013 Accord Touring and still feel that is the best exterior for the Accord. I don't like the front metal plate thing on this model, reminds me of the ugly front plate on the TL may it RIP. Also am not a fan of the rear of this vehicle. I find Honda always experiments with these "consumer grade" vehicles and change their designs drastically year after year. Accord needs to have a solid aggressive and a full size sedan look with a proper boot. Stop trying to copy BMW.

      Prime Autotainment I originally was going for the 2.0 sport (white) but after I drove the touring 2.0. It was clear the touring was the best decision. I would recommend getting the dealership to put the pinstripe across the the side of the car ( where the headlights across the door handle to the tailights). It really makes a huge of difference with a 100 dollar upgrade
