I have the 2018 Accord EXL 2.0 and two years in I can say this has easily been my favorite car in so many ways. No need to list everything since Matt did a great job as usual. Sufficed to say, everything Matt mentioned holds true. Super fun, verging on luxury fit-n-finish, power when you need it, lots of room, etc. I drove my family (wife, two teens) down to Disney (15 hours) and not one complaint from anyone. Color me satisfied.

I was initially bummed that the V6 was gone, but that disappointment evaporated during a test drive. Overall what you’re getting for that price point makes for an incredible, gratifying, enjoyable vehicle to own. Makes me smile every time I drive. Excellent, accurate video Matt! 🤙🏼

Thank you Matt I thoroughly enjoyed riding around with you. So I get mine next month and I’ve seen a ton of reviews. This is the first time I smiled from beginning to end really great job. You have an ace of a personality buddy. Thank you
This is such a better value than an entry level luxury car. Back in 2013 I had a Taurus rental and it was larger, had a more supple ride, better interior materials, more amenities and more power than my friends C300 and it cost nearly 10k less. Entry level fwd “luxury” cars like the a3 and cla really are little more than economy cars in league with a civic touring or Mazda 3.
I had the same car! A 2013 taurus in the highest trim felt like pure luxury to me. Maybe I don't know any better? I don't know. But it felt amazing. So to me, I would much rather buy a regular car with a high trim than a luxury car where I'm mostly paying for the name
You sir are dead on. My buddy has a low end Mercedes. I’m thinking he spent about 46 for it. No way as nice all around as a 36 k accord. To me not even close. He is happy I guess but think I am happier.
Cool review on the 2018 touring Honda Accord. Very detailed review of all the specs in this new Accord. Also thanks for using our song, Seaside in your video!
I recommended an Accord 2.0T to one of my client and she traded her 2015 TL typeS for it. She loves it. She said the Accord 2.0T is quicker than her TL. I’m thinking of getting one myself. I test drove it, and I love it.
There are other reviews that show the Accord is fastest in it's class, faster than the highest trim Camry and highest trim Mazda6. They have it clocked in at 5.5 0-60, which is faster than last year's v6. Accord has the best interior and overall features of the three. Excellent review, really enjoyed your comments. You made a good point, the EX-L is plenty loaded and with the same engine and transmission is just as good. I have a 2018 EX-L 2.0 turbo (1 1/2 yrs) and so far it's been a great car. As you said, rides nice, handles great, and is fun to drive. Gas mileage has also been very good on road trips. Thanks for your great review and keep up the good work.
RB25luvGT35R I could never find one in good condition in my area, almost bought a late 80s Camry but ended swapping a junk yard engine in a crapped out Corolla from the 90s. It was very hard to find a manual Corolla from that era(94, 1.8)
People complaining about this car having less power than the V6, or that it's not sporty enough are forgetting a crucial thing... Remember the Focus ST? A car renowned for its hot hatch performance and almost universally loved by car journalists? This car has nearly IDENTICAL horsepower and torque, and weighs about the same as that car as well. It also has a pretty bangin' 10-speed Auto that allows it to post faster acceleration numbers than the Focus ST ever did. In addition, it's less prone to heat soak than the Focus ST was (an intercooler was literally the first mod I got for mine because it heat soaked so quickly). It doesn't handle quite as well, but a $250 rear sway bar and a set of Firehawk Indy 500 tires would fix that right up. All this, with Honda reliability and a near-endless aftermarket? Sign me up! This is going to be my next car.
This video has aged well, still relevant. The 2021 Accord is pretty much still the same. Matt's giggling like little girl is priceless. So genuine too. I am sold. I am getting the Honda Accord 2.0t Ex-L for my next car. Although, I think for 2021 Accord, I must go touring to get the 2.0L turbo engine. There's no more 2.0t Ex-L.
2.-1/2 years with my 2018 Accord 2.0. Matt is bang on with the sporty handling with the adaptive shocks. The difference is night and day with sport mode on and off. I believe Honda uses torque vectoring with the brakes to counteract understeer and to help the car turn. Steering is quicker too with sport mode and turn-in is fantastic. Summary: Very fun car still with all the practicality of an Accord. The cons are very minor (speakers are meh, can't customize the driving modes like my Golf-R, and could use a bit more sound insulation). Fantastic road car, especially with the lane keep (which is much better than most systems) and radar cruise for freeway slogs.
Great review of a car that is so controversial. I have a 2012 V6 coupe which is hopelessly out of date tech-wise, but I really enjoy the power and smoothness of the engine. I am not too interested in this model due to my belief that Honda is forgetting some of its "fringe" customers. I hope they decide to put a coupe back on the road, at the very least.
Is your coupe a 6 speed? I think the 2003-2017 Honda Accord V6 6MT coupes were thoroughly overlooked. They're very fun to row. 200,000 miles later my '04 V6 6MT still gets redlined several times every week, and it's happy to do so. RIP to the honda naturally aspirated V6 (in the accord). I really might try to snag a late V6 6MT coupe before they start going away or getting molested.
Trevon, was the 3.5L in the 10 noticeably faster, or better, than the 3.0L in the 04? I've wondered if the bigger V6 was worth the assumed increase in weight. My 04 feels like a bit of a boat to me. Fun in a straight line, but even with the double wishbone suspension, it's just not built to corner. Which I imagine gets worse in the later generations.
Love this car but the problem is the exterior styling is too questionable for a lot of people. If they make it look like the insight when it gets refreshed , it will look so much better.
Jordan Catcher There are other reviews that show the Accord is fastest in it's class, faster than the highest trim Camry and highest trim Mazda6. They have it clocked in at 5.5 0-60, which is faster than last year's v6. Accord has the best interior and overall features of the three. The chrome unibrow and the taillights are minor considering it's superb in every other way. There has to be a trade-off in every choice, and if looks are more important then skip the Accord.
Swa Sho Its a family sedan. I careless about how fast it can go, its not lambo or gtr where speed is important. And also the interior is just a rip off of an older bmw 5 series. And now everyone except the camry copied the interior.
Sam Lung same shit can be said about looks then. What exactly are you trying to compare here? What are you looking for in a family sedan? More rear leg room for the family? Then take the Accord. A car that "looks good" but doesn't perform as well as other cars in it's class? Take the Camry or Mazda6.
Like the front, still not feeling the rear styling, although its been growing on me. My other minor gripe is that the rear turn signals are not L.E.D. The front turn signals are, and they look great. I don't know why Honda did not do the same for the rear, especially since the CRV has rear L.E.D turn signals, and that's a "lower" model.
I find myself coming back to this review numerous times wanting to like this car. Just cause it’s a Honda and I’ve been a Honda fanboy since ‘93. First car was a 1993 Honda Accord. But no matter how many times I watch this review the look of it won’t grow on me. Like how can it… not with other cars (Toyota Camry) looking so much better at first glance. RIP Honda 😔
Really wish the RDX wasn’t lifted. It has the same VTEC 2.0T and 10-speed, but with Acura’s amazing SH-AWD and an incredible interior and very well priced. If it was just a wagon...
The main usage I have for the wireless charging pad is it allows me to keep the phone from using any battery while it’s hooked up to BT and WiFi, without needing to actually plug it in. If I need actual quick charging I will of course plug it in, but wireless chargers are never great for fast charging.
As great as it is with its mechanical feat on this Accord, I'll pick the Mazda6, Camry, Altima over the Accord base on look only. Before yall bash me, I'm a 9th gen. Accord coupe owner...... to each their own.
Ryan Littleton I'm in the market for a new car and I've always been a Honda Accord guy but they lost me with the removal of the V6. The new motor doesn't save you any gas and by the sound of things it's not a detuned type R it's more of a Leftist "Feel Good" move. You can't have power and gas mileage in one engine. My V6 Coupe weighs less than the new 4 door only accord the new accord may have 10 HP more than my car but the weight makes it equal but with less get up and go when you really need it. The new 2 liter 4 cylinder will be screaming to make up for the lost cylinders and won't get good MPG. I'm thinking a Cadillac ATS V6 AWD or the Lincoln MKZ V6 3.7L AWD. I considered the Acura AWD V6 but with it's 9 speed transmission 1 less than the accord is a bit to many
Christopher Berg Very well writen response I must say BTW. I still prefer an NA V6 myself, but only if done right I can like a smaller displacement engine. I was very sceptical of the 2.0T until I drove one, and I can assure you that it's more than enough of a replacement to the V6, in fact even better because not only does this engine have much more low end torque compared to the V6 but it will also still pull all the way to it's redline. So I promise you this engine won't have to "scream" to make up for lost cylinders. And for what it's worth, it IS technically a de-tuned Type-R engine it's a K20C engine, so Honda isn't lying. But yeah on paper this engine isn't any more efficient than the outgoing V6 which is a little disappointing, but keep in mind that engine had VCM and also the 2.0T is still very efficient. You can exceed EPA ratings when only on the highway at a constant speed. So moral of my story is I would not worry about it at all, this engine definitely adds up to more than the sum of its parts.
Ok, just found what I consider a dealbreaker of the new Accord. Turning diameter is more suited to a land yacht. 38.1' for 1.5T and hybrids and a whopping 39.4' for 2.0T models. Kind of unacceptably large if you ask me.
I have this very car, except 2019 year, color and interior color. I love it, very quick car for a sedan, more fun actually than my v6 camaro was to drive. More torque faster. Honestly not a fan of the 11th gen accords. Front and back look OK, but no foglights and they made the car bigger and heavier. Also they dropped the 2.0t which to me is a bad move. My only complaint about my car is no rear seat charging ports, but they did add those on 2021 and newer models. The accord only has a heated steering wheel in canada. Also i dislike the cooled seats, they dont work very well as you say. You have to turn them up all the way and blast the floor ac vents to feel a difference. They help cool the seats down some in the heat though. But other brands do cooled seats way better, specially gm. Better cooled seats, rear ports and a heated steering wheel and this would be the perfect car. The only thing i like better on the 11th gen is the larger 12.3 inch screen and wireless carplay and android auto. But the tenth gen is just way sportier and better looking.i have heard the seats on the new one are softer and more comfortable too. But i still prefer the faster, lighter sportier tenth gen. A much more fun car to drive. If I wanted boring I would buy a crossover suv.
The sport 2.0 has way better handling. Since it has the stuff suspension. I always take my accord 18 sport 2.0t into cars with no problem. Sometimes I want it to get tail happy but it doesn’t lol. It’s very planted
Hey Matt, how was cabin noise level? In the past, Honda’s have been known to have higher cabin noise levels Vs competition so was curious about your thoughts on that. I guess tire choice can also impact that as well. Thanks, great video as usual!
Thanks! Noise level was pretty good, since I still haven't reviewed the new Camry or Mazda 6 yet it's hard to compare but the noise levels seemed appropriate for the car and price.
Tire and road noise are excessive for sure. The only really negative to me on my sport trim. But is a big enough to me I plan to trade soon. Should of done a test drive on the freeway. My wife hates the noise worse than I do. Not sure why it’s not mentioned more.
Hey Matt, What would be your pick between this Honda featured or the 2019 Toyota Camry XSE V6? I'm shopping for daily driver type car so outright performance is not the most important thing to me. Comfort, quality, reliability, fuel efficiency, etc. I believe the Camry V6 uses just regular gas and get the 301 hp, but I think the Acoord needs premium for full hp, but I'm sure regular can be used with slightly reduced performance. Maybe I'm wrong with the fuel for the Accord 2.0T. Thanks.
Dual Real Wheel, I have the 2.0T Sport. I find it to be okay, nothing special, but not horrible either. I also own an Audi Q7 with the top Bose surround sound system. I could be just used to that impressive sound system.
Matt, since this review, have u had an opportunity to drive the Accord 2.0T Sport with 6spd manual? If not, do you have any plans to? I would love to hear your thoughts about it compared to the Sport 1.5T, especially when it comes to handling, since you had such a favorable review of it. The Touring model is too heavy in comparison.
Great review bro.. the inside looks so plush and you sure look really excited driving this car who wouldn't..lol Cant even believe this is a Honda Accord. If you don't mind me asking, did you notice any stains on the leather seat after using it for a week.. trying to decide if we should get the black interior or the 2 tone interior, thanks
-- When you were taking the turns, near the 14 minute mark, you pressed on the brakes. That was not necessary (as long as the tires are warmed up). That car will handle much better than most folks expect. I realize that you did not want to take any unnecessary risks. But folks considering this car should know that you were nowhere near its handling limit. Yes, as the host mentioned, the car does feel nose heavy (it probably is). But the suspension and tires are designed to accommodate the heavy nose. Short of driving like a nut, the car will hold the turn at impressive speeds. -- When demonstrating the acceleration, please show the road (not your face). Or, show both, or have one shot with your face and a different shot with the road. It is hard to appreciate what you are seeing, if we cannot see what you are seeing. We cannot appreciate the car's power, if we cannot see the road. -- The 1.5 versions come with Goodyear tires. The 2.0 versions come with Michelin tires. For normal, typical driving, you will not notice any difference in handling. But if you really want the best handling, then the Michelin tires are better. When pushing the car around a turn, at speed, the Goodyear tires will not behave as well as the Michelin tires. Keep in mind that you would have to be pushing hard to bring out the difference. If you want even better handling, then you will have to remove the "All Season" tires that come from the factory, and research which summer / performance tires will offer better grip (the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S seem like a good choice). But you will have less traction in the snow, and the tires will wear out approximately 1/3 sooner (but they will be a blast while they last). Cheers!
Thoughtflux yes you can add a turbo to most any car but it cost a lot. This also involves some tuning and possible redo of the fuel system. A good kit would cost at least 3000 and someone to install could go as high as 2000. Would make the car much more fun but sure is a lot of work. Can do it yourself with parts for about 2000 maybe.
I did a training seminar comparing midsize sedans... if you think this handles well... wait until you drive the new Mazda6. Accord seems a hair quicker but that’s about the only advantage I could give it.
If they made this a fastback/hatchback, it would sell like hotcakes. Just needs a little more utility for me... I would have totally picked it up if it had a liftgate.
Fiji bottles are square and the reason they are square is because you can use a coffee mug from home and not have to transfer your coffee to a cup before leaving your house ... They think ahead 👌
Power of Pine Sol the civic type r can do 0-60 in 4.9-5.1 seconds in the hands of a good driver. Unfortunately that is not the case in every situation and that is why we see all the inconsistency.
I used to not like the looks of this Accord when it came out, but now it really has grown on me. Nice and sleek.
I hope Honda actually watch these videos to see the amount of praise this car is getting. Kudos to you Honda
Honda sent the car over so don’t expect anything else than praise.

5.5 seconds Is rocket territory.
I got a 2012 v6 coupe as well......white on beige 54,000 miles lol. Car is awesome.
Trevon Adams isnt a civic type r still a sedan?
Trevon Adams maybe a civic si you mean lol
Swa Sho I never said I hated the looks and I already knew all that stuff but thanks for telling me.
Swa Sho
Its a family sedan.
Jordan Catcher , I agree. The back end is ugly, they did not collaborate on thr exterior.
Looks crisp.
Maybe it's time to hang up the ol maxima 6 spd keys.
That 10 speed looks snappy
2018 LX 1.5 Manual .And i love it !!! Extremely fun to drive
RIP Honda 😔
Only here for Matt's face when he turns down the back road lol
Review the 2.0t manual
There needs to be a wagon version of this. NEEDS to be.
Really wish the RDX wasn’t lifted. It has the same VTEC 2.0T and 10-speed, but with Acura’s amazing SH-AWD and an incredible interior and very well priced. If it was just a wagon...
shoutout to the '90-'93 Accord wagon. Shit was DOPE.
No please
People need/want a wagon but no one will buy one
John Yang TOOK THE WORDS OUT OF MY MOUTH LOL.Aura/Honda tried wagon styled cars and they never sold.
at moments he sounds like morty from rick and morty. i love this guy 😂 nice review 🤝
The main usage I have for the wireless charging pad is it allows me to keep the phone from using any battery while it’s hooked up to BT and WiFi, without needing to actually plug it in. If I need actual quick charging I will of course plug it in, but wireless chargers are never great for fast charging.
U forgot about the rear heated seats
Congratulations on the video, I'm a fan of Honda and your videos, they are helping me a lot to learn English I'm from Brazil hugs👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😄😉😎
That’s awesome, and thanks for watching!
Matt Maran the kind of guy that changes shirts in his video.
We are waiting for you to drive 2.0 Sport Manual. Please...
As great as it is with its mechanical feat on this Accord, I'll pick the Mazda6, Camry, Altima over the Accord base on look only. Before yall bash me, I'm a 9th gen. Accord coupe owner...... to each their own.
I want this touring model so bad😩
The tuck ometer
This,2017 one, and the 6 gen mustang are my dream cars
CJAdams97 I agree on the 6 gen mustang i been saving for it and im close to getting it
I just finish 250k on my 2018 accord 2.o t🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wow that's impressive, congrats! Any major issues with it?
great video bro
10:41 😂😂😂😂 great sounding engine (I still love the RSX Type S’ 2.0 I-VTEC engine but this is excellent)
Can this 2.0T 4 banger be RE-TUNED? To get the horsepower out of it that this engine puts out in the Civic Type R?
actually yes. there is a couple tuners out there.
HONDATA
Christopher Berg Keep in mind the internals of this engine are also different from the Type-R.
So moral of my story is I would not worry about it at all, this engine definitely adds up to more than the sum of its parts.
liked before watching b/c i knew it was goin to b good
LOL I just said the same exact thing!!! Great minds...
I'm going to buy one this year
I am very disappointed Honda removed the CD player.
Really???😳🤦🏽♂️
Ok, just found what I consider a dealbreaker of the new Accord. Turning diameter is more suited to a land yacht. 38.1' for 1.5T and hybrids and a whopping 39.4' for 2.0T models. Kind of unacceptably large if you ask me.
Does this have the dilution problem like other Earth Dreams cars?
What was that “N” symbol on the wood part of the dash? Is it NFC?
Yeah, NFC.
Matt Maran Motoring Oh wow pretty cool never seen that in a car before.
I really want to see you review the Kia Stinger and the Hyndai KONA Ultimate. I'm sure you'll love them.
Thanks Matt,
Tire and road noise are excessive for sure. The only really negative to me on my sport trim. But is a big enough to me I plan to trade soon. Should of done a test drive on the freeway. My wife hates the noise worse than I do. Not sure why it’s not mentioned more.
dump those 19s and the car is very quiet
Hey Matt, What would be your pick between this Honda featured or the 2019 Toyota Camry XSE V6? I'm shopping for daily driver type car so outright performance is not the most important thing to me. Comfort, quality, reliability, fuel efficiency, etc. I believe the Camry V6 uses just regular gas and get the 301 hp, but I think the Acoord needs premium for full hp, but I'm sure regular can be used with slightly reduced performance. Maybe I'm wrong with the fuel for the Accord 2.0T. Thanks.
Actually the 2.0t uses regular unleaded for the 252 hp and 273 torque. It may get slightly more with mid or premium grade gas
Wow. Way better materials, interior layout, infotainment versus the 2018 CR-V which is similarly priced. I wish the 2.0T came with a shift lever.
How good the sound system? I've been hearing a lot of mediocrity about it
Dual Real Wheel, I have the 2.0T Sport. I find it to be okay, nothing special, but not horrible either. I also own an Audi Q7 with the top Bose surround sound system. I could be just used to that impressive sound system.
Not great on the sport trim.
Very good review
Matt, since this review, have u had an opportunity to drive the Accord 2.0T Sport with 6spd manual? If not, do you have any plans to? I would love to hear your thoughts about it compared to the Sport 1.5T, especially when it comes to handling, since you had such a favorable review of it. The Touring model is too heavy in comparison.
Does it come with a black interior?
Nick M I’ve trying to find out myself idk tho I’ve seen a video of a
1.5 of that color with black but 1.5 ☹️
I'd trade my 92 Accord for this
Cool
Lmao. Of course you would. I personally don't like them because of the Turbo. I don't want to deal with that extra maintenance. I like N/A engines.
Have you driven the Mazda 6? Seems like it would compare very well with the Accord.
I haven't yet, hoping to get one to review later this summer.
Won't be a fair comparison until mazda comes out with their redesigned 6
Sam Lung
Wait and see the 2018 mazda 6 signature is a class above .
Sam Lung it’s already out...
Mazda is still junk
Cheers!
do you get better seats in the sport model?
What a beautiful Japanese seadan
So I have a Honda sport 2016 model. It didn't come with the turbo boost. It's their any way I can add this turbo booster on it? Has anyone done it?
Thoughtflux yes you can add a turbo to most any car but it cost a lot. This also involves some tuning and possible redo of the fuel system. A good kit would cost at least 3000 and someone to install could go as high as 2000. Would make the car much more fun but sure is a lot of work. Can do it yourself with parts for about 2000 maybe.
Really like the exterior and wheels
I did a training seminar comparing midsize sedans... if you think this handles well... wait until you drive the new Mazda6.
Accord seems a hair quicker but that’s about the only advantage I could give it.
the 6 is good, but its the car that everyone loves, but NO ONE buys
This or an A4?
So long to the days of diy on Honda’s
Great video can’t wait till i get mine i ordered custom from factory
If this is the touring trim, then why does the steering wheel have blank switches?
What is a talkometer?
Good reviews like always
To regards to the looks of the car is nice slick looking but but that rear end looks boring and looses the aggressive look
If they made this a fastback/hatchback, it would sell like hotcakes. Just needs a little more utility for me... I would have totally picked it up if it had a liftgate.
How does this car ride compared to a luxury car like a Mercedes c class or the cla?
Review the Mazda 6 Turbo
Love the car, the infotainment system is outdated. The nose could use LED fog lights to break it up a touch. overall the car is beautiful
Finally!!
no HDMI port like the Civic si? how u watch movies and internet? I guess through the Android auto? through phone?
Why are the cupholders square? Who uses square cups or bottles??
Fiji bottles are square and the reason they are square is because you can use a coffee mug from home and not have to transfer your coffee to a cup before leaving your house ... They think ahead 👌
Sedan or "Family Sedan" whats the difference?
0-60 in 5.5? This thing might be faster than a civic type r!
tommieboi707 0-60 yeah but I don’t think the quarter is faster
Power of Pine Sol the civic type r can do 0-60 in 4.9-5.1 seconds in the hands of a good driver. Unfortunately that is not the case in every situation and that is why we see all the inconsistency.
5.7
Stage 2 hondata tune will take care of that problem 377 foot pounds of torque at 290 horsepower baby! Turn this sedan into a sleeper! BOOM
@@mbenton6 dude you ain't fucking kidding!
