For anyone considering this car, I have just purchased the 1.5 L manual...and it is FUN! If I take the Eco mode off, she's quick off the line or going down an entrance ramp. Very responsive in the corners. As for fuel efficiency, when on the highway with eco mode on, I'm avg about 45 mpg!! I love this car 😍
I own a 2019 sport 2.0t 6mt and I concur that the manual is a total blast to drive. Mine is san marino red. I routinely beat cars off the line that are left dazed and confused. I get a kick out of it every time. 1st gear has some wheel hop but 2nd and 3rd pull like a rocket.
That's awesome! Really considering getting one too. Not too fond of the taillights (that stapler look) but the red body color makes it blend in well. So it's either red, black or white. Hmm...
I drive 10 speed semi all day. I don't want to shift my car too. The CVT is nice & smooth. My 2018 Accord 1.5L gets 40+ MPG hwy. Anyone who has bought a particular brand of car they feel has done them right will stand by that brand. For me it's Honda =)
I’m a old man . I bought the 1.5 sport with Manuel trans. I can’t believe the power out of a engine smaller than my last Harley motorcycle. Handling and apple car play are cherries on top. Road noise is high but it is one heck of a car.
I got the last Accord, a 2016 sport. Loved the car except it needed more power. I felt it was waaay too slow. I got the 2.0 sport now and its fabulous.
If you can afford it, I'd splurge for the 2.0T. The 1.5T is a fine engine, but the fact it is matched to a CVT makes me question the long term reliability. I much prefer the 10spd auto used on the 2.0T, and knowing that the engine block is derived from the Civic Type R, the 252hp rating means it is quite detuned and therefore have lots of overhead - the engine is relatively understressed while the 1.5T is making 192hp vs. the Civic at 178hp & the Sport hatch at 182hp, meaning it is at a higher pressure which may cause issues in the long run.
@@bobdolespen I understand what he is saying, but not everyone can afford a $35k vehicle. Especially since most people are buying two cars now in days, One for yourself and one for the wife and kids. You need watch how you spend your money now days. Would I like the bigger engine, of course I would, but you need to be realistic on how you spend your money. You're going to need a bigger down payment, pay more money on your monthly payments, and you're going to be spending more money on gas because you got the bigger engine. If you don't drive around a lot then that's great but if you do drive around a lot you're going to feel that in your pocket.
@@lordsknight4516 right but your original post didnt make all those good points you said you're paying over 30k for just a .5l engine which was over simplistic, also all the 2.0 trims have more features trim vs trim level so there is still a good but of value I think in getting the 2.0 trims especially if you can find or haggle a good deal, the declining sales is making actual bargaining a reality these days.
accord 1.5t manual transmission owner here. Love my Accord. I live in Texas and do 95% city driving. 30.5 mpg. 2.0t just isn’t a worthwhile upgrade. P.S., Ironic for Toyota to mention cost of ownership. Camry is $600 a year more expensive than Accord on insurance...Yes I double checked and compared them when I was car shopping.
@@louyht7 The only 2 reason I would consider 1.5t over 2.0t is for better mpg and lower price point. If those 2 points isn't an issue to you. Get the 2.0t and enjoy. I'm thinking to get stage 2 tune for more power on my 2.0t.
Great review on a great car. I did extensive research on these two cars and the others in this class. I also read every car magazine and watched every RUclips video I could find that compared all the 2018 family sedans. Following all of that I came to an educated and informed conclusion - I bought a 2018 Accord Hybrid Touring (in Modern Steel), and LOVE it. The engine is smooth, it is plenty powerful when needed (I unintentionally smoked the tires pulling out into traffic), the eCVT is smooth and always ready, and this car is quiet. However, I will say that the 47/47/47 mpg rating is not accurate. I recently got 55.7 mpg city mpg. And I average in the HIGH 40s and low 50s when combined. It has so much technology. Everyday I'm learning new things it can do. This is a FANTASTIC car. Great looks (MANY compliments on the color and the car's looks from friends and strangers), superb quality and a quiet and luxurious ride. And it's a FUN car to drive. I may have to add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank since I go so long before filling up.
Yes!!! The ‘regular unleaded fuel’ note is really big as it relates to this car. I’m experiencing it first hand. Winning. Also, the ‘provided you’re not auditioning for the next role in the Fast and the Furious,’ line is so true. I’ve found that a little gas goes a long way with this car. Think light... This car is not for the lead footed...but it can move when you need it to. (Which doesn’t require murdering the gas pedal) 🤔 Drive like a speed demon & you’ll be cussin’ every time you pull up to a gas station. LMBO! 🤣
Manual transmission has been discontinued for 2021. I love my 2021 still night blue 2.0t Accord mated with a 10 speed. The torque curve is sustained from 1500-4500 rpms resulting in one of the fastest lap times for any mid-sized sedans.
The previous Accord is bland and boring??? I beg to differ, my friend! A lot of people love how it looks, especially yours truly. It's the Camry that looks bland, boring and, may I add, odd.
Well, we're both in agreement there, John. But it's not a mutually exclusive, one or the other type thing... of course, this is just my opinion. It is my job to have them but you don't have to necessarily agree with them!
@@zakm4012 The fact that the Camry sells more units than the Accord just goes to prove that the masses aren't always right. The Accord is hands down a better product than the Camry. If people are choosing the Camry because they prefer its styling I offer no argument but if they're choosing the Camry because they think it's superior, then they are just flat out wrong.
Andy Jacobs Lmao I find that hard to believe. I may have over exaggerated a bit, but both are great cars. You really can’t go wrong with either any of them.
I purchased a 2.0T last month. Man , the performance is exhilarating.. You have to be very very watchful to not to make speed violation. Just like that the vehicle exceeds 85mph if u are not watchful. Aside this , steering response, handling corners , quick lane change manoeuvre are piece of cake in this car. Awesome .!!!👍
@@n1n0z24 In sport mode and heavy foot i get 22mpg. In Eco mode , with light foot , where gear upshifts at 2.5k rpm, mpg is 29 to 33 on intercity driving. 2.0t is very sensitive to rpm i observed. If more mpg is target one must not exceed 3.5k rpm rpm at any gear. I have done 2k miles so far. Expecting improvement further.
They got rid of the manual E-brake, no fun!! One thing to look forward to in winter is a few E-brake slides. Electronic one has delay to its application.
You stated what I was thinking during your review and that was how awesome the Accord would be in a manual transmission and sport/station wagon version.
In the last 25 years, I’ve purchased 4 Accord V6s UNTIL they brain stormed this latest Turbo 2.0. Last year I passed on Accord Touring 2.0 Turbo to purchase a Camry XLE V6. I really wanted the 10 speed tranny on the Honda but the Camry V6 does everything better using only an 8 speed tranny. I’ve had 4 Camry V6s as well! They’re both great cars! I’m an older guy and I seldom drive over 60 - 65 mph. A real conservative driver. So on the V6s I can get OVER 40 MPG on the highway! No exaggeration!
2nd the sport w/manual and 1.5t...wagon would be icing on the cake...my 14yo vw turbo (120k mi) is doing just fine; oil changes w/the right oil and mx and the car is doing just fine and still getting 30 mpg in the summer...It's survived CO and OH winters and is daily driven...I don't see why a honda turbo can't do the same thing
I've heard of people swapping them at the dealership with another buyer who wanted the larger rims (misguided or not). If I were to buy an Accord (Sport 6MT), I'd try to convince another buyer at the same time to swap wheels with me. Then I'd buy another set of rims anyway, with summer tires. :P
There is no reason to put low profile tires on this car. What a stupid decision by honda. The ride is terrible and if you hit a really bad pothole you are screwed and may have to change a rim.
I agree. Too bad Honda forces their 19' rims with the 2.0 Engine. I don't want to pay the extra money and buy new rims. I guess its the Honda EXL trim with the 1.5 or the Camry XLE.
yep hate these stupid ass big wheels that are the rage. I have 19s on my camry xse. looks nice, rides like shit when you hit holes or bumps. thanks engineers for following childish fads
I was happy to see you bring on the 2.0T, Paul! I agree with you on pretty much everything between the 1.5 vs 2.0 and compared to the Camry. Putting powertrain aside, I’m still digging the 2018 Accord over the 2018 Camry for more comfortable seats, Apple CarPlay, and more space everywhere.
I never got a chance to test drive the Camry.... I went to Honda 1st... & drove off the lot with a new one. 😆 I’ve been a Toyota fan for many years and have owned one so...I was really curious. I’m not mad at the new design and look of the new Camry after watching them over the years. & to see it being compared to the Accord sparked my interest in both cars. I gotta say... I’m loving my Honda.
Haha that's awesome! I don't blame you, I just drove the Accord 2.0 yesterday and I kind of fell in love...I drive a 2017 4 cylinder Camry so big difference lol. Glad you love it!
Great review! Has anyone tested the car with 4 adults? As a family hauler and road trip vehicle, I'm thinking the 2 litre engine would be the better choice.
the SH-AWD is another beast. depends what your driving style is. go throw a TLX SH-AWD around a corner and you will see what i mean. it beats quattro, 4 motion, x drive etc
This is untrue. Honda is already struggling with issues in their turbocharged engines. It will be interesting to see how they work these out. Long-term there could be a lot more issues. I would wait before purchasing.
Most people judge based on what they hear which is bad. Honda makes good engines , I have used 2 hondas and never had issues with any at very high mileages!
Great discussion and update! I went through a similar decision making process (said prooocess candian style) here south of the border (N.E. US.) comparing whether to go turbo vs. N/A in a mid-size sedan. I went with a 2017.5 Mazda6 Touring with the proven 2.5L N/A and manual back right when the new 2018 Camry and Accords were coming out. I avoided 1st year model bugs and while I liked the Toyota N/A engine offerings but they too were all new and only available coupled with an automatic. I'm with you on the Accord with the 2.0T and 6 speed manual, which wasn't available when I bought in November plus they are ~$6k more here than the Mazda6 Touring offering. I would have loved the extra hp and new platform of the Accord 2.0t Sport, but I'm good with my decision to date. Good decision making everyone.
You hit it right on the head. Honda had gone away to focus on economy and MPG instead of reliability, ease of maintenance and simplicity. I owned Accords and CRV,. I tested drove the new Accord and CRV with turbo and CVT, there was noticeable lack on the turbo and the hesitation on the CVT. So my next car will be a 4 or 6 Camry. with conventional trans.
Here's the thing. The 6 speed manual trans is outstanding and will increase performance while slightly dropping gas mileage in the 1.5 turbo. I even like the CVT in my 2017 Sport Special edition. The autos now are outstanding as well. But I'll take the stick shift, thank you very much. In the 1.5T, since I'm not into drag racing (and 130 + will get you into jail) and this thing is a driver's car regardless along with much better gas mileage.
Go drive the 2.0T with the 6 speed or auto and you will soon realize you are not missing a V6. A conservative flash tune on this engine will get you 300hp and 370+trq. This is probably one of the best deals on the market right now($30k+).
Do you know why conventional aircraft general aviation engines are all NA 2 CI per HP designs from the 1950's ? Because in aircraft unreliable garbage gets people killed. You can't just pull over if your engine blows when flying. You're advocating 2.46 Hp per cid? Do you have any idea how much heat that tiny block is trying to dissipate? Do you honestly think a company would put the kind of R&D into materials science and thermodynamics to make such an engine for a consumer commodity built to the lowest price possible for such a thing to be remotely reliable?
I have never had 1 single issue wit ride quality or bumps in my 2.0t accord. The road noise is pretty loud, but you can change tires. Car handles bumps ad potholes like a champ, considering its the sport model with a pretty stiff suspension.
Emale2000 because kilometers are the distance. it would be stupid to say kilometers to liter. liters to kilometers is the only realisticly good and working one.
Ok guys forgive my ignorance, i am keeping an eye on the 1.5 L version. However, i read alot of complaining about the size of the engine. I am a heavy driver and i drive daily to work (80 miles daily) not ti mention travelling from time to time. So choosing this turbo 1.5 L, is this a good option for me? I know nothing about this Turbo and how good it is. So kindly help me decide. Thanks guys.
Actually the fuel economy he got was very good I have a four cylinder 2009 Mazda 6 with 175 hp, that 2.0 turbo is getting way better fuel economy than my car, on average I am getting 9.7 litres per100km. And the fuel economy will only get better in the summertime, I will definitely get the 2.0 litre engine now thanks to this review
"Actually the fuel economy he got was very good" -- Good or not, my point was 26 --> 31 is a big jump, and it won't get any smaller in the summertime. With a manual transmission either one would provide fun driving.
Yea it is. I have the 1.5 with the CVT and the gas MPG on it I am getting is just insane. Averaging about 37 MPG driving mix of freeway and streets. I am not using the eco mode either (it just sucks anyway) Once my lease is over I definitely want to test drive the 10 speed 2.0T. I really want that higher torque/hp engine and go away from CVT as I am a bit worried about CVT having bad reputation though I am sure it will last a long time if you don't beat the crap out of the car.
S P I’m averaging 28mpg in mixed driving with my new 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 with the 10spd trans while driving in the normal mode. This is about the same as I got in my 09 Camry V6 SE.
I have a 2020 Sport 2.0 so far average total mpg is 31.2 When I drive 57 miles to work, I get a trip average between 34.8 and 36.6 might. I do have fun with the pedal on occasion.
VeLissa Lewis I thought it soaked up the bumps really well. there isn't a lot of road feel, it feels kind of numb, and it rides very smoothly. more so than the Camry, I thought
Yup, they just need to redesign the front, the back hatchback looking nonsense, the rear tail lights, the etch a sketch ipad thing stuck on the dash, put in a actually good sounding stereo, ditch the push button shifter, move the sensor in front somewhere where it doesn't break every time a pebble hits it or mud or snow gets on it, oh, and get away from the civic platform it's based on, bring back the coupe, and all that work for a 2.0t to get rid of a sweet v6 to gain how many mpg? lol. Worse accord ever. And its over priced. No wonder they aren't selling. I've owned several Accords, not interested in this thing AT ALL
1.5t is known for oil dilution problems I believe. For that reason alone it's worth going 2.0. Also, this is a large sedan, not a honda civic. Go 2.0t people.
Very impressive! With the lone exception of no all-wheel-drive available (which I can actually respect Honda for not offering), this all new 2.0 litre Honda is a serious wowzer of an automobile! If AWD isn't important to a potential buyer of a brand new mid-sized car, this is THE one to get! Can't wait to have a seat in one at the upcoming auto & truck show. Take a bow, Honda!
Great review! Noone's mentioned the low ride height for Accord... I bet that's where the awesome mpg comes from. The statement from Toyota re: Turbos was enlightening! (I'm camp NA for now). You won my heart (and my sub) when you said 2.0T manual Wagon. omg I hope Honda was listening.
1.5 is 3-4k cheaper but it have CVT and i heard it's very expensive to fix and it might have dilution issue. I rather go for 2.0 just to be on the safe side.
4:30 i chose the 2019 Accord LX 1.5T 192hp 30/40 mpg w 10yr warranty . i prefer a small powerful high mpg motor . it's the future. my LX has unbeatable specs not to mention xlnt sound stereo . at level 11 get full bass (volume goes to 30) clear and can hear all instruments.
So if you got one of the models with 19” wheels and swapped with someone for the 17s would that mess up the odo/Speedo or would the overall diameter on them be the same?
I own the 2018 Accord 1.5T Touring and it has PLENTY of power/acceleration. The push for more horsepower/torque is interesting, but how much faster acceleration does one truly need in a 4-door mid-size sedan? $2,000 (USA) buys you a funky transmission selector, a 10-speed transmission, and more horsepower/torque. You get *nothing* else, like better brakes, better tires, better handling, etc., but worse mpg.
These are my thoughts as well, when trying to decide. 190+ HP is plenty for a cushy family vehicle. Nobody buys an Accord strictly for its performance. Also for reference, I currently drive a Mazda 6, and it is rated at 184 HP. I have no trouble at all accelerating in that thing, and with the Accord being a bit faster than that I think I will be plenty happy with the 1.5L. That $2000 can go a long way towards something else, not to mention the long-term fuel savings.
With the 11th Gen released and the 2.0t no longer in the lineup. If you need MPG savings get the 2.0L Hybrid, if not get the 2.0t over the 1.5t. There have been serious reliability issues with the 1.5t found in the Accord, Civic, and CR-V's. I just voted with my wallet and picked up a 2020 Honda Accord 2.0t Touring. I really like the ride and look of the Touring. It's a great family sedan. I could not put my money into a 1.5t civic or accord after all the head gasket issues seen thus far.
Matt Howard Honda’s CVT isn’t as bad as you think. My brother owns a 2016 Honda Civic LX and it has nearly 70k miles on it with no major problems. He takes care of it a lot, so I’m not really surprised.
Why do you need your car to last 10 years? A lease for three years is an answer. No headache in terms of maintenance. 3 years and new car. What's the point of paying say 27K$ ahead and be worried if your car will last?
O. S. Bc we like to own the cars and we drive a lot i just got my Camry about 3 weeks ago and I already racked up 2000 miles lease is not an option.I prefer to own my car and I also like to make some changes
I have a 2008 SAAB 9-5 with a 2.3 litre turbocharged engine. It now has 98,000 miles. Historically these their Mitsubishi TD04 turbochargers last well over 200,000 miles, as do the timing chain. I love Honda's, but there is no way that I would buy a CVT car that I was planning to keep over 5 years. A CVT might be fine for a lease, but no way I'd buy one.
@@sunshadow9704 I prefer to own it right from the go, that way I won't worry about payments and by the time I reach 200 to 300k km by then I will have enough to buy another one outright
Hope you get to do a review of the new Kia Stinger lower trim 2.0T version which would offer AWD. I'm curious how it would compare to the Accord. Also the Hyundai Sonata would be a good comparison.
Dude you need to advertise your website more, put it in the description of your videos! I had no idea you had online report cards for each review you do until now! Great videos, they definitely help when looking for a new car!
I think the 2.0 engine would last longer since you would rely less on the turbo and more on the engine honestly you should get better mpg with the 2.0 in the cold
AWD would be a great option for a Canadian market. Great review and sorry you guys have all that snow up in Alberta. Thankfully down here in Toronto we are snow free... For now.
Hi Paul, love your channel. Keep up the great work! Just wondering if you’ll get the Nissan Leaf soon to test and review. I’m interested to know you thoughts on the Leaf vs. the Hyundai Ioniq EV. A compare would be amazing! Thanks!
well, in this climate, Honda 1.5L turbor will have engine oil problem. CRV is already been pulled out from china market. Careful for picking up 1.5L from Honda
Considering the oil consumption issues that plagued the vcm-equipped j35's - I think those naysayers are completely insane. I was personally going to buy the current rdx for the v6 w/ a vcmuzzler 2.0; but when I saw the new one released on January auth the 2.0t & 10-spd, I threw that plan straight into the garbage. VCM is not worth the headache and arguments with the dealer, my friends.
Such an excellent car inside and out. Though the Stinger has my eye due to it's hatchback-like trunk. Add that to this Accord and change the taillights and it'd be perfect.
I'm one of the 5 percent of those Canadians. I test drove the 2.0T and the 10-speed. It was nice even with the weird alphabet selector buttons, but the turbo delay and rubber band effect with the 10-speed make it feel a bit more unpredictable when transitioning into power than I'd like. I know the 0 to 60 times on the auto are better, but magazine racing is best for magazines. Even though it doesn't have a pull handle parking brake any more I'd still rather have a manual in the snow with proper winter tires than an auto with a bunch of algorithms trying to figure out how to best drive it for me. Also Honda makes really good manuals with low clutch effort and an easy engagement.
Honda is full of win since it offers a manual shift (3 pedals) and aftermarket Hondata Flash pro will help boost HP and TQ. Did I mention the manual transmission? well done Honda.
darcygoesfast obviously you haven't been paying attention. If you want a manual transmission you can't get one on the 2018 Accord. You have to go to a Civic now to get one.
oh boy- who's not paying attention? 9:55...here in Canada 2.0T Accords are available with manual shift. In fact, there's a black one at our local dealer. Manual's are available in the 1.5 with prices starting at $28,000 and about $35,000 for the 2.0T manual.
J35 is an ancient design. SOHC, timing belt, and no cam phasing. The timing belt alone expect to pay $700 at the 100k mark to get it done by a Honda trained technician. Wear and tear, not a warrantiable item. The engine also does not make much low end power; good power at top but by then you're going too fast and will get a ticket. Much rather get some satisfying low end thrust at legal speeds.
My 2014 Accord V6 coupe with a 6 speed auto routinely gets about 10 Lt/100 km in the city, and about 6.5-6.2 on the highway, although I have seen as good as 5.5 on a 900 km trip. I live in eastern BC, so this is all mountain roads, too. So while the 2.0 turbo actually sounds like a pretty good engine, and the idea of dropping a hundred or so kilos off the front end would be wonderful, I think I'll keep my big V6. (oh, and I would have loved the manual - too bad Honda sets its manuals up in such a way as to create a 10-15 percent penalty in fuel economy). At least they gave me paddle shifters.
Awesome review paul , Its very informative as always covering all the bases which would of course help out people in deciding which engine would be better suited to their needs. I myself would stick to my 2.4 naturally aspirated engine for now since I don’t know how reliable turbo engines are gonna be in long run
A V-6 has considerably more moving parts than a turbo I-4. The only extra moving part is the turbine. As opposed to 8 more valves, two more pistons, two more camshafts, an extra timing chain/belt, etc. V-6 engines are not particularly pleasant sounding, as opposed to the I-6. This is Toyota making excuses because they either can't develop a turbo 2.0 or don't want to put money into it because they developed the V-6 for Lexus.
Globeguy Plumbing and intercooler have no moving parts. Turbo reliability reputation comes from 1980s tech and lubrication. Every 500,000 mile semi on the road has turbos.
JPCJ NA engines are poorly suited for normal driving due to lack of low rpm torque unless you go to very high displacement. The whole point of a small turbo is that you can get V-6 torque from less displacement and if you stay off boost (I.e. normal driving) you do get small displacement fuel economy. Revving a V-6 to match small turbo output introduces much more fuel consumption and wear and tear.
Ficon So you don't acknowledge that Toyota does make a 2.0t. Lol I don't get why you needed to explain a 4 cyl.turbo system vs. a NA V6, we're aware. The point was there are several more components to a turbo system. Just because charge piping doesn't move doesn't mean it's a more reliable system. Any boost also causes wear and tear over an NA over time as well. NA motors are poorly suited for day to day driving? Everyone thinks they need loads of torque to get to the local Starbucks and Walmart. Haha
Dealers are trying to sell the 1.5T with the manual since it will be killed by next year. You can buy the 1.5T now with the new 0w-16 oil. So this engine shouldn't delude oil anymore
Car brands have no choice but to increase fuel economy and lower the litter (to 1.5 for example), because of governments policies. More governments are asking car manufacture to form a lowering trend of their emission, also part of the reason why more manufactures are making hybrids or even full electric or even new energy like honda clarity(which emission is 0, at least when you are using it)to lower their average emission. Some requirements are also linked to the weight of the car,(heavier the car, more emission allowance) , which cause some cars to have some extra not-needed weight just so they can ensure the power.
It has a fastback look and yet the trunk opens like a regular sedan? I don't agree with Toyota on the V6, 4 pots are getting better and better, can offer as much or more torque than traditional V6 and with the latest turbos there is virtually any lag! Oh and yes, they need AWD!
It doesn't need AWD. People think that's some kind of magical elixir for winter driving when you can drive literally anything in inclement weather with proper snow tires.
lol good one! I'll watch you trying to get out of 12 inches of snow while I plow through with my AWD! 👌😂 AWD is not just for winter you know! Try putting 2 wheels in a water puddle at 80km/h while having the steering staying straight!
I would still take a N/A V6 over a turbo 4 banger. You have to replace those turbos eventually. $$$$ It is cheaper where I live to own a N/A engine over a turbo charged engine. I'm betting the insurance cost on turbo engines are much more expensive too.
Take a look under the hood of that 2 liter it still has ALL THAT SPACE almost like they plan to bring back the v6 once that 2T falls apart. I was going to buy a new accord coupe but it's gone and the 2 liter 4 door was it's second strike the 3rd strike was stepping up to an Acura SH-AWD V6 but that transmission was TERRIBLE it had far to many gears. That 10 speed is a 7 speed with 3 overdrives 1,2,3,OD,4,5,6,OD,7,OD. My MKZ AWD 3.7L V6 gets the same MPG as the accord and my Lincoln in Sport holy crap!! Thank God for stability control taking the power away so I didn't roll it
The Camry will have a 4 cylinder turbo within the next couple of years on certain. Recall just a few years ago when the Lexus commercials were touting how the es and GS still came with a V6 and BMW and Mercedes and Audi all had 4 cylinder turbos are there bass Motors? Well what did Lexus do a couple of years later? 2.0 T as the base engine.
At first I was gonna get the 2.0 sport accord since I like the new interior and how it has Apple car play.I previously owned a 2017 accord but sadly it got totaled. When I first saw the new redesign I was not a big fan of it but after a while the sport designed grew on me mostly because of the rims and spoiler.I driven both Honda and Toyota but at the end of the day I bought the Camry Xse for 27k.I love the design and I prefer the traditional gauges instead of electronic one in the accord.Lack of CarPlay upsets me but I heard rumors that Toyota should be releasing an update for the 2018 models since the 2019 Camry will be getting CarPlay. The 4 cylinder model is perfect for me and it’s gives me the extra power that I need. One of the biggest reason of why I didn’t buy the accord is mostly bc of turbo.I prefer naturally aspirated engine over turbos.Turbos don’t last long and after 100k miles they will start giving u problems. Also the new Toyota looks better in my opinion and gives more a sportier look with the black rims with the silver accents. Also I wish Honda would give us a better gear selector since I hate the buttons cause I can accidentally drop some water and mess it up.I am happy with my purchase just wish Apple car play was in the car.
With an aggressive front look like that, this Accord would look marvelous as a hatchback/wagon. Maybe Honda would feel more inclined to make that an AWD!
Dude great video. Great car. And yes manual 2.0 would be the only option for me. I still don't like the extra lane keep assist stuff though but if it comes on the base then there's no way to get rid of it is there?
1.5 for reliability and gas mileage…2.0 for reliability, gas mileage, and a whole lot of fun to drive!!! 2.0 for sure!!!!
1.5 turbo is not reliable at all compared to the 2.0
For anyone considering this car, I have just purchased the 1.5 L manual...and it is FUN! If I take the Eco mode off, she's quick off the line or going down an entrance ramp. Very responsive in the corners. As for fuel efficiency, when on the highway with eco mode on, I'm avg about 45 mpg!! I love this car 😍
Just got my 18 1.5 touring today red🍒 with tan inside...love it.
@@pressmore1 How is it still holding up if u have it???
@@BreakingBogeyGolfat 100k miles I’m having to replace the turbo 😢
@pressmore1 yep . The red hits different!!
@Tokyo_1031 take care of it 🤔
I own a 2019 sport 2.0t 6mt and I concur that the manual is a total blast to drive.
I loved our comment about the wagon! Honda, if you are listening, please make that dream come true!
Question?? When you take a small engine and turbo it’s displacement. How does that impact longevity?
I just took delievery on a 2018 with the 1.5L engine. Unless you're looking for a hot rod, this engine has plenty of get up and go.
Yep, we found them to both be more than zippy. If you're a real car enthusiast who wants lots of highway passing prowess, the 2 L has the edge.
@@FamilyWheels Of course..
I’m a old man . I bought the 1.5 sport with Manuel trans. I can’t believe the power out of a engine smaller than my last Harley motorcycle. Handling and apple car play are cherries on top. Road noise is high but it is one heck of a car.
@@gregblack8550 Correct: impressive indeed.
@@gregblack8550 Congratulations! By God's grace, I'm a proud owner of 1.5 LX. Less money. AT, and great gas mileage.
I got the last Accord, a 2016 sport. Loved the car except it needed more power. I felt it was waaay too slow. I got the 2.0 sport now and its fabulous.
I couldn’t locate a 2.0t with a manual but I can’t complain the 1.5t with a 6spd is still pretty good
If you can afford it, I'd splurge for the 2.0T.
Trades46 spot on to this comment.
1.5T it's a better deal. You're paying over 30k for a .5 liter more engine
@@lordsknight4516 That's....not how that works, read Trades46's comment and really take in the information he's trying to help you understand
That's interesting why is more money to drive a Camry? Less safety features?

When did you bought your car? and do you have any issues with it like oil dilution?
LMBO! 🤣
Hello any ideas about the oil dillution problem with this new accord ??!!
The 9.5G Touring/Sport is such an attractive car.
Please don’t bring the Camry into this yes it looked bland for 2016 but now the Camry kicks the accords ass with more sales and still offering the v6.
@@zakm4012 The fact that the Camry sells more units than the Accord just goes to prove that the masses aren't always right. The Accord is hands down a better product than the Camry. Good review of the 2 Hondas - as it happens, I drove both just a few hours ago! Nice channel, too - great to see a practical, family-oriented focus.
Over 40 MPG??! Sensational!

2nd the sport w/manual and 1.5t...wagon would be icing on the cake...my 14yo vw turbo (120k mi) is doing just fine; oil changes w/the right oil and mx and the car is doing just fine and still getting 30 mpg in the summer...It's survived CO and OH winters and is daily driven...I don't see why a honda turbo can't do the same thing
do you have the 1.5T or 2.0T ? and if so how long have you owned it ?
The new Accord is near perfect all it needs is a smaller wheel option with a tire with more sidewall
catsspat You definitely have the right idea

Homda Turbos are the most reliable you can think of. I have a Acura with Turbo engine and it is just fine after 200000 miles on it.

The Camry has an 8-speed DSG (dual clutch) so while it is an auto, its still a step up. It does however have some smoothness issues.
Which is a better 6MT Accord between 2018 1.5 and 2.0 ?
Love hate relationship with the 19 in wheels. Beautiful to look at but noisier and I wouldn't want to hit a pothole with them.
My sentiments exactly. That's the only thing I wish I could change about my car.
I think the 17 inch rims look amazing
I have never had 1 single issue wit ride quality or bumps in my 2.0t accord.
The road noise is pretty loud, but you can change tires.

Great review I really appreciate the Canadian/US fuel economy conversions
That's our little gift to our viewers in the south!
Why do Canadians make mileage numbers so complex? (Liters per 100Km) Why not simply use Km per liter?
Sorry ;)
most cars give you an option to do L/100km or km/L
Emale2000 because kilometers are the distance. it would be stupid to say kilometers to liter. liters to kilometers is the only realisticly good and working one.

1.5l - 31 MPG, 2l - 26 MPG. That's a pretty big difference to me.

I've owned several Accords, not interested in this thing AT ALL
Steve Well alright Steve. Lol. I do not like how it looks. I still have my 2008 Accord Coup and it has 243,000 miles on it.
They should make an awd version of the 2.0T Accord, make more power out of the motor and call it the Type R.
Oooh, a Type R Accord. Interesting idea...
Hi hear you! How huge would a manual Accord wagon be?! Thanks for the sub.
I say test both the 1.5 and 2.0 before making a decision. There are many factors to consider not just horsepower.
Hey, how long have you owned the 1.5L Turbo.. Any issues with it? Is it reliable and how many miles did you put on it?
So if you got one of the models with 19” wheels and swapped with someone for the 17s would that mess up the odo/Speedo or would the overall diameter on them be the same?
Depends on the rubber not the rim size
I had a 2001.5 V6 New Passat, rated at 190HP, and it was plenty fast. I suspect it was heavier than my 2018 Accord.
I got the 1.5 liter as well and I love it. I had a V6 coupe before this one and I have to say I prefer the smaller turbo over the V6. Amazing car!!!

That new RDX though..... Beauty. I hope they made a good choice with the engine
Such an excellent car inside and out. Though the Stinger has my eye due to it's hatchback-like trunk. Add that to this Accord and change the taillights and it'd be perfect.
That 1.5 turbo is pushing close to 20 psi boost...longevity?
That's what a lot of people are waiting on...
Response from Toyota about the V6 is mostly likely rubbish, I bet their next update will have a turbo 4 replacing the V6.
Well spoken, good energy. Subscribed!
Manual's are available in the 1.5 with prices starting at $28,000 and about $35,000 for the 2.0T manual.
what is a Hondata Flash pro ?
Great review, loved it.
If they added awd to this no one would buy the acura tlx
Kip sangy Bingo.
Acura is slipping ...
AWD is overrated anyways. Acura is overpriced
@@jignesh812 its not overrated when it snows
Jignesh Patl it’s overpriced because you cant afford it
I love my 2019 Honda accod
Fun fact: the 2.0 Honda can beat the v6 Camry.
Good job Honda. Getting the 2.0 Manual in the fall when prices come down a bit. Save the manual!
Awesome review paul , Its very informative as always covering all the bases which would of course help out people in deciding which engine would be better suited to their needs. I myself would stick to my 2.4 naturally aspirated engine for now since I don’t know how reliable turbo engines are gonna be in long run
It's not the 80s anymore. Turbo isnt going to affect reliability
Is sooo the best way
Totally agree about the wagon comment at the end. I have a 91 wagon and would love to see honda bring the wagon back to the North American market.
Enjoy your reviews. Good level of content while being concise.
Turbo engines not only have turbine but intercooler and all associated plumbing as well. All else equal, NA v6 should have higher reliability
Globeguy I'll take an NA V6 all day over a turbo car. Too much can go wrong with turbo systems.
Lol
I don't get why you needed to explain a 4 cyl.turbo system vs. a NA V6, we're aware.
I love my 2018 Honda Accord Touring 2.0 but the gas millage is poor.
how much u get for city?
Yes it's very poor!! That's the only thing I don't like about my 2.0t
GroovyMotion v6 still have more growl than a typical honda 4 banger
Yeah they need a 4 pot that sounds like the A45 or the Focus RS!
It doesn't need AWD. People think that's some kind of magical elixir for winter driving when you can drive literally anything in inclement weather with proper snow tires.
lol good one! I'll watch you trying to get out of 12 inches of snow while I plow through with my AWD! 👌😂
AWD is not just for winter you know! Try putting 2 wheels in a water puddle at 80km/h while having the steering staying straight!
I would still take a N/A V6 over a turbo 4 banger. You have to replace those turbos eventually. $$$$
It is cheaper where I live to own a N/A engine over a turbo charged engine.
Thank God for stability control taking the power away so I didn't roll it
THE ACCORD TOURING 2.0T IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2.0 T as the base engine.
would this be good for snow driving(michigan)?
It was far better in the snow than I expected it to be, Cameron.
the mpg for 2.0 in michigan winters will be crappy
I think I’ll have the 2.0 as well. Looking forward to the Expedition review!
It's up now!
You can turn off all the Honda Sensing stuff, I believe.
Yes, you can.
Yes I can turn off the Lane assist on my 2018 Honda Accord Touring. However I really love it.
