      I just had a mechanic tackel this job, does this fuel pump cause injectors to fail?

    • @javierrobles4559
      @javierrobles4559 Год назад

      Also, if they failed to install the pump with the piston on top dead center. How would I tell. He gave me back my truck leaking gas. Took it back to him and now I'm having injector issues because he said he replaced injector 8 due to this pump failing.

    This is why im glad I wen with a 2002 Sierra it's old and not as beautiful as the newer trucks but when something does need replaced it's a straight forward repair, im not at all knocking anyone who owns a newer truck they are gorgeous and powerful, but with older ones there are less electronics parts to deal with, thank God for people like you who share their knowledge to help confident DIY'ers to make their own repairs and save thousands 💯👍🏿

    I paid my truck off 12-21-21. My truck went into a limp mode and would not go on 12-23-21 so I took my 2015 GMC sierra 1500 truck to get it fixed on 12-30-21. The #1 cylinder was misfiring the camshaft was found to be bad from CMC Automotive in Langley SC. When I found out the repair cost was going to be $7500 I called around to get other prices. Found that where I bought my truck from in 2015 from Johnson motors in Aiken SC could do the repairs for $4000 + or - $200. It took several weeks for them to get parts to fix it. I got my truck back on 1-19-2022. Drove it until 2-14-2022 and it did the same thing. They repaired it. I got it back 3-11-2022. Drove it until the same thing happened again on 3-18-22. Took it back to get it repaired and they couldn’t fix it after having it for two weeks. So GM said they were going to put me a new 5.3 engine in it. Every since 4-19-22 I have been waiting for it. Every week I get a no ETA. I have been without my truck pretty much since 12-30-21. Is there an attorney I can talk to about this matter?

    FWIW According to the factory manual, the cover is not unbolted, it is removed with the intake. The intake manifold bolts are loosened, then slid forward. Then the harness retainers in the back can be accessed and removed (what you ended up doing). If you dont have a factory repair data, Mitchell1 DIY is cheap - $60 for one vehicle for 4 years. It has full factory shop data..

    Awesome video! I'm still banging my head why the need for cylinder 1 to be in top dead center on the exhaust, how does that relate to the high pressure pump? To my understanding, the fuel pump simply pumps fuel into the lines and the injector takes care of introducing fuel into the cylinder.

      This is a GDI system. It requires a lot of pressure, in comparison with older systems.

    • @norristaylor03
      @norristaylor03 2 месяца назад

      The high pressure pump is mechanical not electric and is powered by the lifting action of the camshaft. A camshaft has a low and high spot. Think of the shape of an egg spinning on its horizontal axis. You want the camshaft lobe in the "low" position in order to relieve any tension on the pump.

    Okay, so would a hp fuel pump failure cause a no start issue? Sons truck cranks and acts like it wants to start but then just turns over. Fuel pump in tank runs. Fuel is making it to the hp pump. But wont start. Has a P12a8-00 "fuel pump control status signal message counter incorrect" code among other unrelated BCM codes due to led aftermarket headlights. How do you verify a hp fuel pump failure (or an in tank pump failure since there are no ports to attach a gauge)?

    How important is that black bracket on top of the pump? Already installed the lines and intake 🤦‍♂

    • @thewatcher611
      @thewatcher611 5 месяцев назад

      lol. Well, it would seem to me that if it runs without it, it's fine. I don't only say that to be funny. What I would check for is if the bolts run all the way down. They may reach torque, but that shield may have a certain thickness that the bolt is designed for. If they bottom out, you can grind that unthreaded end of the bolt off, and reinstall. That isn't really a bracket, so much, as it is a shield to protect the delicate pump when you're installing it, or swinging an engine around during engine R&R. So, with that, if you can live without it, It'll probably run fine for you. Disclaimer: YMMV.....
