Thank you for your explanation on this pump. Just bought a 2013 Explorer Limited 2.0l ecoB has 200k on the dash. I hear this ticking sound at start up. I've removed the insulation over the high pressure fuel pump and can feel the tick in sync with the timing. I believe to be the cam follower. Bought a new pump and follower. Will be installing next week. Video on RUclips will be my guide! Only reason for a new pump is the amount of fuel issues I've been having. Between a relay,control module, and high pressure pump ive got to narrow it down or fix the issue. Only thing left after all that would be the fuel tank transfer unit. Dropping a tank is harder when you got no Car lift. Just a side note for ticking sounds. Also take a look at the waste gate valve for the turbo. I've researched youtube for many hours now. And the waste gate was mentioned.
Thank you! I already took my I dodge Durango to the shop and I needed the oxygen sensor and needed to fix the blow motor. I didn’t get it fix because I thought no issue right plus I had just gave birth so I go back to the shop and tell them I have been having car acceleration issues and then I got another code which was P06DD. They told me it was the oil pump. They’re charging me almost $900 . I immediately thought they were tryna scam me because my check engine light came one aswell. But my car has been having acceleration issues for awhile now. So it’s def making me more confident in moving forward with getting my car fixed. It should be done by this afternoon!

I get a misfire during hard acceleration, and it sounds like the engine is running out of gas for a second, but then it does eventually get there. My engine lite will come on as well. I am going to replace the fuel pump and hopefully that will fix the problem..

This was my problem with regards to hesitation. When I pulled out the pump I noticed it did not have a gasket although it was a groove for it around the pump head. I installed the new 1 with both new gaskets. Soooo what happened to the old shaft gasket?

@@daltontallman8721 I was having an issue where my car was stalling when idle, after warming it up and turned off the car didn’t want to start at all. Also was losing power and something very rare the RPM meter didn’t work at all. I started with greasing the electric plugs on top and around the engine, I took the spark plugs out, they where ok, I check the air filter, oil, everything looks fine until I decide to take out the low pressure gas pump. The filter was dirty, a lot of big debris, from small metal particles to insects. I put everything back together and after that the car is being working fine. No stalling.

What if in open loop, my pump and it's VCV (Volume control valve) works fine, but in closed loop the valve stays at 0% unless heavily reved? The pressure keeps increasing, and it's failing to regulate. I already replaced the pump, still same issue:( ford mustasng gt 2019). When revved, or in open loop the regualtor seems working fine. Also when I command the VCV manually through ford ids, It does ticking noise, and pressure increases even faster :

Also check if your glow plugs aren't due for replacement first.You can also test by first turning your key on and let them heat up for 3 minutes and start the engine if it solves the issue replace the glow plugs.

@baxman929 I replaced my fuel injectors and that was nice but something wasn't right. I had massive vacuum pressure @ oil cap while running. I replaced the pcv valve and my car was like brand new. I suspect it was the pcv valve the entire time.

2013 Audi been hesitating a little little bit. Then started misfiring on acceleration around 4000 RPM. I just rebuilt my engine and the problem I have is high fuel consumption and when I stop at red lights the engine tends to drop down to 400 RPM almost stalling. I'm considering if it could be either my vacuum pump since I only replaced the outside gasket, not the one that goes inside the pump. OR Something with the low pressure fuel pump. I got a fault code for it (implausible signal) but I deleted the code since I was messing around with so much stuff on the car then and it hasn't been back since. Pretty sure it's not the high pressure fuel pump since the cam is all good and the pump roller is fine plus I replaced the gasket.

I have a juke, starts & stops after only a second. I did notice for awhile there was a delay of power but that was it. Tested the pump in the tank and it works. What's really odd is it throws no codes.
@@chandlerrogers8096 I am aware, I ended up just pulling plugs to different sensors till it started and turned out to be CAMshaft sensor A. After I replaced it and started it up THEN it sends me the codes for it.....Cleared the codes and all good now. Before that I was trying to figure out how to test the HP-pump but couldn't find anything.
If it is a diesel engine the issue is in the diesel pump in the engine where your fuel lines to common rail comes from.First do fuel filter service both diesel filter and water separator filter if it has one if it doesn't solve the issue replace the suction control/fuel solenoid/high pressure fuel regulator as is known , if you engine uses Denso or Delphi pumps it is located at the back of the pump.In your case it will be a small silver cylinder shaped thing with 2 size 10mm bolts on each side with connection cable at the back. Once done also reset your ecu with diagnostic machine or manual with pedal and you're good to go.

I have this weird issue with my 2010 VW 2.0. it only happens when i try to get started from a complete stop, it jumps forward, RPM jumps, then drives normal as the car starts to go. My car is doing this and I get code 0090. It’s a 2019 Hyundai sonata they say it’s the fuel pressure regulator. I’m not sure where it located or is it a part of the high pressure fuel pump?
They're right .If it uses a Delphi pump or Denso the regulator or suction control valve as is known you will find it at the back of the pump .It is a cylinder in shape some long some short with 2 size 10mm bolts on each side and a connection cable at the back.
i have a strange problem with my yaris 1.4D-d 2016. 257.000 km on it so far. the engine light comes on once in a while the past year. all good. then out of nowhere the trc off light comes on and i loose power. but can still drive. turn off car. open and close diesel cover. pump breaks 5 times. start car again. trc light goes away. can drive normally again. next morning engine light is off. and all is fine again for a month or more. until next time. showing p1272 and p1229.

If is a diesel engine first do fuel filter service and the water separator filter and if it doesn't solve the issue replace the fuel regulator/suction control valve SCV on the pump.
I have a 2013 bmw x1 would this cause the CPS to throw a fault code for retard camshaft bank 1 (code P1338) 🤔 i did an oil change swapped out 1 of the 2 cps sensors 2nd one in a tight spot havnt got to it yet but my high pressure fuel pump is making a clicking noise but not sure if that would affect the camshaft sensors.. thanks ps only real symptom i have you mentioned is cold start and that tick I mentioned
SIMPLE WAY to diagnose a failing or bad high pressure fuel pump is by temperature . When the high pressure fuel pump is going bad it gets very hot and can burn your hand . It will get some heat from the block but not burn your hand. With a cold engine, start it then watch how fast it warms up. If it’s too hot to touch after a minute then it’s time to replace

I have a 11 camaro v6. I changed fuel pump, fuel pump module, fuel pressure sensor at gas tank and rail. I'm getting p069e code and my fuel pump is making loud noises, can it be the high pressure pump causing that?
Would u smell gas in oil from this issue? Have all those symptoms but can smell gas in oil
Hello. I have a 2014 bmw X6 35i. When the engine is cold the car runs fine. When you drive it for a while and it’s hot. At acceleration the car starts to stutter. Do you think it’s the high pressure fuel pump ? Also my son drove the car one day and it shut off and wouldn’t start. When he was wailing for the tow truck the car started back up.
That happened to my Audi a4 it was the crankshaft sensor
can you tell me if your HEFP fails can it cause your main seal for oil be effected, crack ect? We have a Dodge ram 2017 .

Can the high pressure fuel pump cause a no start condition?
I have a juke, starts & stops after only a second. I did notice for awhile there was a delay of power but that was it. Tested the pump in the tank and it works. What's really odd is it throws no codes.
Some have a high pressure pump in addition to the standard pump in the tank.
@@chandlerrogers8096 I am aware, I ended up just pulling plugs to different sensors till it started and turned out to be CAMshaft sensor A. After I replaced it and started it up THEN it sends me the codes for it.....Cleared the codes and all good now. Before that I was trying to figure out how to test the HP-pump but couldn't find anything.
If it is a diesel engine the issue is in the diesel pump in the engine where your fuel lines to common rail comes from.First do fuel filter service both diesel filter and water separator filter if it has one if it doesn't solve the issue replace the suction control/fuel solenoid/high pressure fuel regulator as is known , if you engine uses Denso or Delphi pumps it is located at the back of the pump.In your case it will be a small silver cylinder shaped thing with 2 size 10mm bolts on each side with connection cable at the back. Once done also reset your ecu with diagnostic machine or manual with pedal and you're good to go.
ended up being a cam sensor, just wish it would have thrown codes. (not a diesel)@@kenm8797

Hi,i have a 1.8 tdci 2008 ford focus that s losing power after it heats up,if i have more passangers is very hard to move cause the engine has no power and dies,also when i start the car it has power only after 30 seconds of waiting than it runs ok till heats up,no codes or check engine,do you think it s the pump?All filters are new.
Yes replace that fuel regulator/suction control valve as is commonly known and reset with diagnostic machine as some vehicles requires.

I have this weird issue with my 2010 VW 2.0. it only happens when i try to get started from a complete stop, it jumps forward, RPM jumps, then drives normal as the car starts to go. Could this be the HPFP? How can check it with OBDeleven (i tried reading 106 block, and was getting fuel duty cycle percentage of 54% at idle and pressure of 40)

My car is doing this and I get code 0090. It’s a 2019 Hyundai sonata they say it’s the fuel pressure regulator. I’m not sure where it located or is it a part of the high pressure fuel pump?
They're right .If it uses a Delphi pump or Denso the regulator or suction control valve as is known you will find it at the back of the pump .It is a cylinder in shape some long some short with 2 size 10mm bolts on each side and a connection cable at the back.
Did you fix it ? Mines does the same thing

Check you coolant temperature sensor first and the thermostat they might be on their way out and needs replacement.
i have a strange problem with my yaris 1.4D-d 2016. 257.000 km on it so far. the engine light comes on once in a while the past year. all good. then out of nowhere the trc off light comes on and i loose power. but can still drive. turn off car. open and close diesel cover. pump breaks 5 times. start car again. trc light goes away. can drive normally again. next morning engine light is off. and all is fine again for a month or more. until next time. showing p1272 and p1229.

My car, Mazda cx-30 2023 has an issue with high-pressure fuel pump failure. I asked the dealer to replace the car but rejected. I bought the car 4 weeks ago.
I have a 2016 rav4. Stalls out randomly but never have problem to start right away. My gas mileage decrease. And a miss fire feel sometimes
If is a diesel engine first do fuel filter service and the water separator filter and if it doesn't solve the issue replace the fuel regulator/suction control valve SCV on the pump.

I have a 2013 bmw x1 would this cause the CPS to throw a fault code for retard camshaft bank 1 (code P1338) 🤔 i did an oil change swapped out 1 of the 2 cps sensors 2nd one in a tight spot havnt got to it yet but my high pressure fuel pump is making a clicking noise but not sure if that would affect the camshaft sensors.. thanks ps only real symptom i have you mentioned is cold start and that tick I mentioned

SIMPLE WAY to diagnose a failing or bad high pressure fuel pump is by temperature . When the high pressure fuel pump is going bad it gets very hot and can burn your hand . It will get some heat from the block but not burn your hand.
With a cold engine, start it then watch how fast it warms up. If it’s too hot to touch after a minute then it’s time to replace
