    A legitimate actor. His trainers, as well as actors like Anthony Hopkins described how Bart knew exactly when the camera was on and would lower his lip, bluff charge, and be every bit as intricate in a performance as any human. No other bear comes even close.
    The fact he was 9'7" and 1600 pounds without being fat like most movie bears was also incredible. Yet he was gentle as any teddy bear.
    Shame he wasn't given an award for The Edge. He should be given a lifetime achievement award for not only being a great actor, but the greatest animal actor ever.

      Well Kodiak bears are the largest species of bears out there so that's probably the reason why he was almost 10 ft tall and 1600 pounds.

      You can see the raw power in those paws and claws. If he wanted to Bart could have ripped him up, hell, even if Bart didnt want too. He doesnt know his own strength. But he chooses to be more gentle. He understands he could hurt his friend. So he's gentle. These animals are much more intelligent then we give them credit for.

    • @vFANGv
      @vFANGv 2 года назад +28

      @@2010lani Doug Seus received Bart as a cub because his mother had been killed. He raised Bart as his mother would have, spending 24 hours a day with him and bottle-feeding him. He did not dominate Bart. Someone once asked Mr Seuss how do you make him do things. Doug's response was: "I don't make him do anything, he does what I ask because he trusts me and loves me". Doug love that animal like he was his own child. He did not exploit him. He trained Bart to perform actions that he would do in the wild, but simply on command. He never made Bart mimic human movement or do stupid things like dress him up in clothing like Russian Bear trainers do. In other words, he never exploited Bart or took away his dignity. The money that Bart earned from his work in Hollywood was used for conservation purposes.

The bears and they've got wolves there also they have lots of room its kind of a ranch type thing. As you can imagine he has real secure fencing around the place. Bart is gone but sounds like David has other bears...and wolves. In the Animal Planet special with Jennifer Aniston in one scene David and his wife and Jennifer take one of the bears his name was Tank on a walk down to the local Dairy Queen....They get Tank a vanilla ice cream cone its gone in 1 bite inhaled it...and 6 hamburgers 1-bited those too but spit out the pickle slices. Doesn't like pickles. that cracked my up "How many times I gotta tell you people? No Pickles!"
