His performance as Lecter is indellible and his acting in Merchant's "Remains Of The Day", "Howard's End" " Nixon" and many others is superb. I look forward to seeing his portrayal of Hitchcock.

James Drynan I too caught the Jack Benny gesture. A lot of us old fans would have related to it. A great blending of a very scary theatrical character and a beloved, perennial "39" year old violinist.
Silence of the Lambs was such a huge film in it's day, it made a ton of money and got nominated for lots of awards and I think it swept the big ones, Best Pic, director, lead male and female. Such a clever and unexpected way to open. Kudos to Crystal and his writing team, people were laughing in the audience before he said a word, all they had to do was roll him on stage with that mask and the laughs started. Brilliant and simple.
