Mickey Mouse job mate. Bloody nice. I didn't realise just much bigger the Auto tunnel was. I bought an auto mk1 years ago for a race car project. Nevermind it never happened. I still have it.
Phew that was lucky Dave, I guess the Auto tunnel doesn’t really allow much space for the clutch pedal ha ha! ( lovely clean job by the way, definitely NOT “too shabby!”) 😎😊👍
That was great, that seam welding sequence on the the underside was ace! Video makes it look so easy, belies how much work it took to do. By 'eck, that weding looks great, and that was before it was ground and primered.
Great work Dave. Dont listen to nonsense people put out. The RX8 gearbox will definately a auto tunnel. Been done loads of times and thats using the hydraulic slave cyclinder too which is on the outside. 1 million % certain
Cracking work Dave looks really nice , if whatever’s going in doesn’t fit I’m sure an hour or so with an angle grinder and a welder and it’ll be in there lol great work mate it’s really coming along now 👍
Brilliant work as always Dave great video your doing an excellent job on your escort well done keep up the great work your channel and videos are always fantastic thank you I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project ♥️♥️
Great job Dave...as always. Hopefully not too hot in the workshop for you. I just finished in my garage today and I was soaked with sweat whilst welding ...no joke in this heat .😫😫Diolch and top job.👍👍
Nice work, im looking at this myself for mine for a R150 Toyota box. Bought the panel and will just have to deal with it if its not going to fit. Keep up the great work!
Nice work Dave. Do you know how the bell housing comes off the RX8 6 speed box? I need to remove mine to get it machined down but I obviously don’t want to risk damage removing it if it’s not as obvious as just unscrewing some bolts and taking it off.
Great video, thanks. How did you get on with the RX8 gearbox fitting? I'm just about to fit the exact same tunnel and plan to use the RX8 gearbox too, and just wondered if it fitted ok. Thank you Andy
@DavesGarageuk Thanks for the reply Dave, Will be watching the rest of the videos on your channel to get some more tips. Thanks for the help and good luck with the build. 🤝🙏🤝🙏
I might even roller it, just to show it is a viable option, see how I feel about it closer to the time. I've rollered a couple of cars and a campervan with rustoleum paint, and the finish is surprisingly good.
@@DavesGarageuk Yeah do it Dave, i'd like to see how it's done (give us the low-down on the range of colours and the technique as i have combine harvesters to repair where the straw discharge hoods have to be straightened (usually the back corners when they're being driven in & out of buildings)), as it might save me a lot of time and work on the agri machinery we work on and I hope will work with the paints supplied (usually enamels or acrylics).
Another great video, I think you need to modify you rollover so that you can lock it in position.
Thanks, yep it's on my to do list.
Nice work Dave, 👍
Thanks Tony
Cracking job.
Watching your videos is making me want to get on with my mk2 escort that's been in pieces for 15 years.
Keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks, it's amazing how the time goes by

Well your Escort is worth a lot more money now mate 😊
I’ve got a feeling that Escort is going to be considerably stronger than ex-factory 😊
👍👍
Dave really enjoy your videos truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Thanks 😊

Thanks, yep it's a tight fit 😄
Huge tunnel good work 🙏
Morning Dave. Well another episode done ✅ Live how you just make things fit as you go making your channel fresh and interesting 😊
Thanks Stevie 😊
Dave, before you repair the gearbox x-member, mock up the Mazda gearbox as you may have to remove/modify it anyway
Good shout, thank you 😊
That was great, that seam welding sequence on the the underside was ace! Video makes it look so easy, belies how much work it took to do. By 'eck, that weding looks great, and that was before it was ground and primered.
Thanks Neil 👍 that welding scene was sped up 20 times! And the bits where I'm cleaning out the nozzle is cut out too, it took a while 🤣
Great work Dave. Dont listen to nonsense people put out. The RX8 gearbox will definately a auto tunnel. Been done loads of times and thats using the hydraulic slave cyclinder too which is on the outside. 1 million % certain
Thanks David, yeah it's a huge tunnel, didn't understand why it wouldn't fit. Good to know for sure 👍👍
@@DavesGarageuk Dave ive got the same auto tunnel too and your quite right they are huge compared to the standard one.
Thanks Dave,thumbs up!
Another cracking vid Dave. I can't wait for the next one. Keep up the brilliant work.
Thankyou 😊😊

Spot on job looking good👍 go steady on the primer there's a shortage!...
Thanks, haha 😄
more good work dave
Another great video dave with excellent guidance top work
Thanks David
Hi Dave maybe a gusset would be useful in that crossmember space under the gearbox turret
Thanks, I'll think about that once I'm fitting the gearbox, 👍👍
Great job Dave...as always. Hopefully not too hot in the workshop for you. I just finished in my garage today and I was soaked with sweat whilst welding ...no joke in this heat .😫😫Diolch and top job.👍👍

Thank you ☺️
Hi Dave, what a great series of videos! Did you use weld through primer on the tunnel / body before you plug welded it? Thanks Huw
Yes mate
Nice work, im looking at this myself for mine for a R150 Toyota box. Bought the panel and will just have to deal with it if its not going to fit. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, yep, anything is possible with a welder and a cutting disc 🤣
Nice one mate t9
Thank you 😊

I don't mate, sorry
Dave are you going to fit a variable locking peg on your spit roaster?
On my to do list
Great video, thanks.
How did you get on with the RX8 gearbox fitting? I'm just about to fit the exact same tunnel and plan to use the RX8 gearbox too, and just wondered if it fitted ok.
Thank you
Andy
Hi Andy, I've used an mx5 box, but essentially fitting is very similar, plenty of room for the box, gearstick hole needed moving.
@DavesGarageuk Thanks for the reply Dave, Will be watching the rest of the videos on your channel to get some more tips. Thanks for the help and good luck with the build. 🤝🙏🤝🙏
Hi Dave, did the rx8 box fit in the tunnel in the end without cutting it ?
I'm using an MX5 box in this one, I I have had to open up the gearstick opening, there is a video about that 😉
Another cracking job Dave, are you going to spray the car yourself or will it be going to a body shop 👍
I might even roller it, just to show it is a viable option, see how I feel about it closer to the time. I've rollered a couple of cars and a campervan with rustoleum paint, and the finish is surprisingly good.

@@DavesGarageuk Please do it in that lovely orange colour!!🙏
Hay Dave,did you consider making it removable?just a thought.Cheers.
I hadn't
Hiya, is there room for your clutch pedal with this tunnel fitted ? Cheers Keith.
Hi Keith, yep, pedal box fits fine, it's a common thing to do.
@@DavesGarageuk that’s good, I’ve already got the auto tunnel but just had an awful thought 🤣. Cheers. Love the videos 👍
Hi Dave - can you tell me where to get an auto carpet from? Ive called a few places to ask, and ive been told that no one sells them. Cheers
I've seen them for sale on ebay mate.
What thickness mig wire do u use ?
0.6mm mate
Lub Lee jub Lee 😂
🤣
Never occurred to me, as much as it really should have, that the carpets for manual or auto are different.
Did you ever think of cutting out the whole floor and replacing it with one cut out from another vehicle with a large tunnel. ?
Nope
