I love the fact you just show us what we want to see but without all the talking, unfortunately most of the other fabricators on RUclips spend 80% of the time talking about what they are about to do and the other 20% showing us a very basic overview of the repair, well done!!!!!

First 19 min going to all that trouble to reincorporate the hole that' does nothing for the structural integrity , the swage should have been left whole then welded into place sealing off the hole preventing / slowing water ingress when outer skin rots again also when patching once shape is achieved clamp patch into place over the panel and cut through both patch & panel together at intended join once you take both cut pieces out you'll have a perfect fit eliminating the need to keep cutting & checking fit,,, these holes are there to assist /speed up rusting by car Manufacturers they're relying on them to rust so the Consumer will buy NEW Cars

I know you guys or lad's have showed tools, how to make most of the parts properly. I was hoping that you could show us where you Steve started even before a shop. And I think as a viewer that watches a lot of different channels are you planning on what everyone else does as far as rebuild and restoration? Honestly that would really appeal to a wider range of audience. Keep on cracking on love the content.

It's always super deflating when you spend a lot of time making a panel to then offer it up and figure out you put the very last kink or bend in the wrong place and have to start over. Always found it super demoralising when doing my own cars. It's honestly very heart warming to see even people with far more experience and skill sometimes suffer from the same errors, thanks for leaving that in the vid! Fantastic craftsmanship!

Have you tried any 2- part underbody spray that I've seen you finish areas with? I would trust it alot more to hold up and create a moisture barrier. A lot of the single part underbody sprays are water based.

I like how you work and i've done similar things and i know what a headache is to constantly being on the make of metal parts that weren't expecting, it's stressful to go that far and then the right next minute think if you can make it to the next panel. I really like what i see on this channel. To be honest cars are overcomplicated structures whereas they could be simplier, it's such a shame to have endless sheet metal going to nowhere and trapping so much rust making any repair extreme.

@@yorkshirecarrestoration ahh ok we use Halfords weld through primer , we have done extensive testing on bare steel and rusty steel left outside to the elements and found it doesn’t rust through like most primers ( we’ve tried a few) as it’s 65%zinc rich. But it’s about £12 for a 400 ml tin and was looking a alternative of the same quality at a better price

It's primed with weld through primer. If we use any other primer its all flammable so we protect and Waxoil after the job is complete.

As soon as i see an angle grinder with no guard on it... I know i'm watching a pro. Just waiting for the weather to improve a little before i start on my MX-5 NB. I don't have the luxury of an indoor workshop at the minute (i design and build CNC machines and they have priority in the garage) so i'll be on my back on the driveway not too far away from you in Leeds. Watching these videos is keeping up my appetite for it until i crack on with mine. True engineering porn..

Nice work again, would be good to see some kind of idea on how long it takes to fab something like that, I’m thinking best part of a day for this.
I watch this, and other similar videos and get inspired to get in the garage to tackle the rust on my Manta but when it comes down to it I just open the door, stand staring at the enormity of the work and leave it for another day…

good job but to be definitively efficient, you should put grease everywhere. grease et the only thing very efficient against rust. put grease between metal and carpet, inside door, behind bumper, behind (inside the car), behind the repairs you can make (everywhere inside cavities - hidden erea - instead of using paint), hollow areas (necessarily hidden, so no need to be aesthetic). For rear wings unreachable with a paintbrush, use an extender and poor old oil everywhere each year.Handyman Experience - 35 years. From france

If you remove the handle from the zigmachine machine, weld the nut and put on a ratchet wrench, it will be convenient. The handle (key) will always be on one side, and it can only be turned by pressing down. And you won't have to reach so far for the handle.🤔🤔🤔
