Agreed. Your comment made me think about my late father. He once said he really liked the engine in my BMW E24. But it was a pity the design was so simple and dull. He drove a Citroën DS himself lol. There was iust no other car for him I guess 😅.
I'm so grateful the MA channel turned me on to you guys! I've been watching car restoration videos a long time and have never seen anything like this! Truly unique and masters of your craft! Thanks for showing me what's possible and giving these old cars new life, I love it!
Can never understand customers who moan about the price of bodywork this just shows you the level of skill and time effort put into a proper repair well done guys love you work
What distinguishes this channel is not only skills, the art of work, but there is no unnecessary philosophy and constant talking, talking and more talking - instead of talking there is work and I love it (nice background music) thank you for every video
Hi Steve Absolute amazed even more than I have in the past at your skill in fabricating skills.....5 stars are not enough, I'll give 101 stars ...lol.😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
The way you are able to make the repair almost invisible is incredible. Just want to thank you guys for making these videos, Learnt a lot from you guys - doing some repairs on the transit, keep grinding, Keep finding more rusts 😂 been a few weeks and still finding more. Unlike your work, it appears One side of the wheel arch had been lap welded three times, always wondered why one side of my arch is thicker. Well now I know 😂
About 35 years ago I was staying in a small boutique hotel in Exeter U.K. The owner had a beautiful black 635csi fully loaded and immaculate. His pal had a similarly specked 911 Turbo, both parked in the courtyard of the hotel. It was a warm summer’s evening. I really didn’t want to go to my room that night.
You know after spending the whole day banging away on the keyboard. I find watching you form metal on my 65" TV with house music playing in the background to be quite therapeutic
You appear to be making shapes out of thin air and they fit well. While you make it look easy, there is no doubt that there is years of experience in those hands and eyes of yours. As always just wonderful work yet again.
Loving your videos guys, great camera work really demonstrates how much actually goes into your invisible repairs. Thank you so much for the immense amount of time you must put into producing this content, adding to already busy days. 👏👍🙏🇦🇺
Sorry but i can't get my head around what you guys do (brilliant) i've been there and its such a heartache at times . You deserve the top dolllorr without a doubt 💗💗💗
Great quality work steve 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Not many so called big reputable restoration garages/business out their , do this kind of quality work and do it right 1st time !!! When my classic car needs any body work , am going to bring it to you !!!👌👌👌
Fantastic work as always Steve. The E24 635CSi is one of my all time favourite cars. There were so many of these scrapped for rust issues, looking at this it is easy to see why. There are very few people left that are skilled enough to make cost-effective repairs like you do. Well done again.
Dear me Steve , the more you look the more you find seems appropriate here , I really don't envy you this one - Excellent video presentation as ever as well
Good evening from Germany. Can’t believe how you skimpt on that inner chassis re-inforcement. Cutting corners and not even matching the hole in the original rusted out piece that no one will ever see! 😂😂😂😂
Another interesting restoration video....I like the quality of your repair panels that will not be seen when a panel is fitted over the top...ps I also own a Manta, what work is being carried out on the Orange one in the background?
Hi yes I like things to be correct underneath as well so the car is as good as possible :) the open manta is having rear arches on as someone has welded over rust in the past.
That's some really awesome 👌 work my friend thank you guys for the upload I just watched this video and I have another idea how I can make a metal bender with 3 pipes from the one I saw you use I made one already to make square bends. Well I know one thing that car is going to be fixed right ✅️..you guys are the best I love ❤️ this channel its my favorite channel on RUclips it has helped me so much with learning how to do different things.
Play a bit of Neil Diamond as the back ground music and I could watch this skill, craftmanship and trail until it fits all. Shame of the copyright on Neil. Great work guys. Great cars to work on
Wow did your blood lines makes swords for kings and warriors or something? I just subscribed from matt Armstrongs channel and all a can say is I'm glad I did! True craftsman 👍
Fantastic again. One question your power file abrasive belt seems to last a while, could you tell me make as I have been restoring my Dad's and the belts keep splitting and snapping. Many thanks Graham
What a big difference between your quality repairs versus that of a cheaper body shop. Yours will last a lifetime, while their goal is typically to cover up the damage, hoping it will last a couple years at most. Do they make quarters for this particular vehicle? If so, wouldn't that be a more efficient way to go?
Just a quick question. How Would you paint the bare metal inside the areas you boxed in? Is it good to apply welding primer before boxed them in? Again just curious
there aren't any areas boxed in yet as the sills we have to repair the inside and bottom from underneath the car yet and the inner arch is accessible from inside the boot an inside the cab, weld through primer or any primers aren't that good as they still flash off where the weld is applied and all other primers are flammable so no good to use when welding, in my 30 years doing this its better to finish the job then seam seal and primer where you can after the job , then drill holes and apply cavity wax where you cant prime, also make sure there are drain holes where needed :0
Respect, i could only help by making brews, sweeping and washing, no laundry thoughgreat range of equipment and tools the "little" anvils are great, bet you have a 14lb hammer somewhere/
It's amazing how the Brits are not afraid of rust, but here in American it turns into a massive massive expense for even small jobs and even then it's shoddy work!
Bench mount shear arrived monday - dead useful bit of kit, should have bought one years ago - so thanks for that tip, Steve. Nice job on the lower screen surround - those can be "Fun". I tend to just make them in 2 pieces & weld them - purely for speed/ease - but making a 1 piece repair is better. Different ways to skin a cat but the cats still skinned. :-)
Had to weld the entire center back into a fords roof today btw - sunroof section underneath was borked, as was the underside of the roof itself - hence the outer roof got cut off. Sweet moG.... must have been 3 meters of weld or close. Because there's no way of re-tensioning the panel, it flopped about like a sail after - had to form braces for the underside to get the shape/ridgidity back & spot weld those in. It goes on the list of "Hardest repairs I've run across" - wouldn't be in a rush to do another. Nowhere else would touch it - and I know why.
sorry we do try when we have time but unlike other channels this is done in our spare time we we have full time jobs so no able to as its more time consuming, its a chore keeping up as is :)
Because dipping it costs a lot more money including completely stripping, removing engine, steering, drive train, lights, wiring loom then there is the dip, then there is fully reassembling it and fully priming and painting it etc. It's not in the customers budget. :)

Efficient work as always, why spend eons on matching inner sills when the repair just has to be comparably solid with OEM? This way you're cutting down on hours and providing an affordable service. Also, nice signature touch on that twin-bead strap on the inner sill, you were indulging yourself there, matching the original beads to a T, not needed, but a nice touch 😁

100% agreed. Hats off to Paul Bracq, the original designer.

The 27 or so minutes of the video is no reflection as to how many hours go into what looks like a simple repair. Keep them coming.
haha it did take longer than 27 mins :)
Incredible fabricating skills
thank you William :)
Nice to see that there are still people willing to do this type of work. Every bodyshop around me would just tell you to junk it

Do you follow up repair with any waxoil or similar inside the panels ?
yes always :)
Is there any need to strengthen the frame on these coupes in your view?
not really :)
Is there a reason you aren’t using weld through primer?
Id love to have the rear inner/outer arches and sills replacing on my Mk4 Astra Gsi but i know i wont be able to afford it doing.
