    I did this today and it totally worked. I have a heat gun that doesn't have adjustable temp. I have Flux rosin, which isn't easy to get under the chips. I just followed your video and it works! Thanks man! Hopefully it lasts for some time.

    I was skeptical about this but gave it a shot. It fixed a Cecha00 with a 3034 error. Let's see how long it lasts. Thanks for the tutorial.

      @@Epieic3 Ran fine for a whole week then I killed it trying to delid the CPU haha. Its all good the console was meant for practice only. But yea the reflow method works but they say it could last anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of years.

    Thanks for the great tutorial! Just fixed a ps3 that died 10 years ago so it lives to heat my room once again. i didn't use flux cuz i didn't have any and it didn't seem to matter. happy to keep it out of a landfill and put a "classic" console back in service.

    Just a note that you reference RAM in the heating zone and actually those are the dodgy NEC caps instead. The RAM is on the RSX and the Cell processor ones are off to the right. So just a correction on that front.

    3 Questions, but first off . . . thanks for the 3 great videos on the YLOD repair!
    1: In the USA I'm unable to find Flussmittel GSP-2533/RX . . . heck I even search eBay internationally and found none.
    What is the best fluid that would be available to me? Or what keywords / ingredients should I be looking for?
    2: When I search replacement Thermal Pads, I see no differences identified other than thickness. Would the 5mm thick or the even thicker 10mm dissipate the most heat? Or is there a better option.
    3: I've yet to research Thermal Paste for the two chips, but I assume Arctic Freeze is still the best, or is there a better product?

    4:34 wrong now you're ready to remove the heat spreaders, it's a necessary evil if you want to prevent future overheating.
    I would also recommend just refund the GPU first because half the time it ends up being the only one needing it. Also use tin foil or tin foil tape to cover up the parts you don't want to get hot, it also helps prevent the board from trying to warp

    • @JacobC1985
      @JacobC1985 5 лет назад

      James Carter do you mean to leave them off when reassembling?

    • @lain328
      @lain328 5 лет назад

      @@JacobC1985 no you have to put the heat spreaders back but you don't have to worry about gluing them back down the pressure will keep them in place no problem.
      I recommend reflowing the board with them removed, you'll have a higher chance of success.
      Also use tin foil or tin foil tape around everything but the GPU, this will allow you that use higher temperatures without the issue of the board being warped.
      If you don't remove them thermal compound underneath is going to cause issues when it comes to transferring the heat off the chips, even if you replace over top of it the stuff underneath is still bad.

      James Carter sounds good. What do you recommend using to separate the heat spreader from you/cpu with?

      Some times it can last for a long time, but some times only for a short period it just depends. If you can find some one that does reballs, that will permanently fix it as long as they know what they are doing

      I've had one last over a year before I had to do it again... But I've also had them only last a month or 2 also. I consider it a warning that upgrading or replacing is imminent, but this will buy you some time.
