  • After serious doubts as to the sanity of this second adventure, we persevere on and decide to fly to bike (and ourselves) over to England to continue on with this journey. But first, we meet up with new friends in Toronto for some sailing during the last few days of summer. And before we know it, everything is looking pretty good.
    We hope you enjoy!!

    Dude! I was riding one of my bikes last week that didn't have a windscreen on it and got zapped by a Wasp! It hit me right in the middle of my neck. When I got home I walked in and told my wife, she screams at me to get out because it was still in my jacket. By time I got the jacket off, it had stung me three more times on my neck. Gotta love riding a motorcycle. I was doing 60 mph when he stung me the first time with no where to stop. Cheers! I would normally say safe sailing but now I get to say safe riding. lol

    OH NO!!! You utterly failed in Niagara! You went to the American falls instead of the Canadian falls, and you were on the wrong side of the river to see them up close. You were on the right side of the river to experience the Horseshoe falls - a natural wonder of the world, truly stunning. The sound of the water is so powerful you can feel it in your chest. You can board The Maid Of The Mist boat that goes right up to the base of the falls - mind blowing. Even cooler is you can also go into a cave right underneath the falls!
    If you were worried about your stuff getting stolen you could have rented a locker at the bus station for a couple of dollars. DOH!!!

    Thanks for another quality video. I really enjoyed it.
    I work in air freight at DFW Airport, so it was interesting seeing the air shipment of your cycle. They did a good job.
    Looking forward to following along on your European trip, and taking notes for our future trip.
    Safe Travels!

    Ive gotten stung by bees in the neck and have unavoidably struck birds while riding my motorcycle. When you collide with a seagull it feels like you got hit with a bat. luckily the helmet absorbs much of the blow. I had a smaller bird hit me to the side of my eye, that really hurt bed. What a great adventure you guys had!

    Are you kidding me? Chichester! Not only did I go to school there, but later in life that's where my Regiment's headquarters were too, so I was often back for courses. Shame you guys didn't plan a much longer stay in the UK, could have included the lowlands and highlands of Scotland, Lake District, Peak District, Cotswolds, and so much more...

    You can definitely buy Urals in the uk. As I said before, if you need help with the Ural, I know some peeps who are really into them. One owned a Ural shop so knows them inside and out. And we all love visistors....

    Bravo! Excellent video. You should consider photo blogging on ADVRIDER. This adventure would fit perfect in their Epic Rides section. Its a better source for Q&A and is easy to post without significant editing sessions. You can also post live using Tapatalk. They don't allow links to Patreon, but do allow links to RUclips. Your hit count would go up significantly. You'd be rockstars on ADVRider.

    Any one knows you can fly a motorcycle to England. You put a pair of wings and a propeller and you are halfway there. You could even put floats on it. I just couldn't resist. I hope you are having the time of your lives.

    About the bike: Let's see how she holds up. Maybe the US Version is more reliable than the Urals sold over here (Germany). And on the first glance the prices in the states seem a little less than in europe and you don't loose on the exchange rate. So financially it might just be the same including shipping. Last but not least is Europe the place to be for fancy spares, there are quite some folks throwing mikuni, dellorto and even ducati parts and these things. And obviously it's a good place for BMW spares...

    Looks likes tons of fun. With all the gear, etc it was mentioned it slows down the bike. Makes sense, but any issues on certain types of roadways with keeping up with other vehicles?

  • @Netgear1968
    @Netgear1968 8 лет назад

    I was quite suprised at how much it was to ship it air freight, that seemed a really good price.

  • @jamesedwards1588
    @jamesedwards1588 8 лет назад

    Awesome video. $1200 is good price to fly the bike. You would have probably paid that much more in mark-up, taxes and exchange rates, if you bought the bike in Europe. Interesting bike. You should rent a couple of scooters for a day and get Cat riding one. They are popular in european cities. Most are automatic, no gears to change and very quite. Some are powerful.

  • @nickcoulter973
    @nickcoulter973 7 лет назад

    I never would have guessed this would be possible without loads of frustration. I would definitely prefer to ship the bike I want to ride on my dream vacation/european tour, so +1 for shipping rather than buying an inferior local bike.

    Plans not stolen, the tooling was given to the USSR by Germany while they were still "friends" (those friends invaded Poland together) Germany went with a newer model and thought the BMW R75 military was a bit outdated but good enough for Uncle Joe. Russia in turn helped China to produce them as well (still being made their but no-ones first choice for a bike)

    Could you elaborate on the ship a bike over / buy a bike locally dilemma? Why did you decide you should have bought the bike locally? I have thought about doing the buy one locally trip but I'd be forced to buy a used bike and shopping for one might take up lots of time and I might end up with mechanical troubles I'd be unprepared for on the road with no home base shop.

    I am curious about why you chose to buy a Russian made bike. Can you get parts for it in Europe?
    Also, regarding your nervousness about safety, it is well founded. Is it possible to buy a small used car over there?
    Have fun but stay safe.
