- Winter is coming, so they say. And we are definitely NOT into that. So it is now time to cross the Alps and get into the warm weather of the Mediterranean ASAP. We cover a lot of ground in this episode, almost 1,000 miles and find some very, very nice weather.

Hi everyone! I know that we haven't posted a new video in a while now. Really sorry about that!! We have tons of great footage, but are clearly very behind in editing.... Thank you everyone who has sent us a note asking if we are ok. We're GREAT! We're actually currently crossing the Atlantic as delivery crew on a 67 foot sailboat... so the videos are going to be EVEN MORE behind (but hopefully EVER BETTER!!). I lived in Le Mans for a bit and loved every minute of it. My son who is 15 is now living in Andorra at a tennis academy there. Your videos bring back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing.
Nice episode. Take time to smell the roses. There is just a massive difference in performance and comfort between a Ural and say a Honda Goldwing, although the camera mounts would obviously be a disadvantage. Beautiful scenery for sure. Looking forward to Italy. I bet it will be awesome. Enjoy the ride.

Cat, I loved that the beer you were drinking in Germany was almost as big as you were! Looks like a beautiful drive through the Alps, I'm glad you were able to find some sun on the other side.

Went camping as a kid in Cubs in Luxembourg, when my dad was Stationed at Marville France we travelled that area. I have gone winter camping and it's nice out when it's sunny and cold at night

I had a feeling it wouldn't take long for you to really miss being on the water - but this is one really cool side trip...
dang. if I knew you were coming through Switzerland I'd have given you a warm bed with a panorama view of the Alps. From there it's a nice 3 hour drive via the St Gotthard Tunnel to the warm side of the Alps.
hey -- when you get back -- you could take the ural across the US on the Trans America Trail --- all back country roads 90% dirt --- just did a lot of it in a big ford 1ton van following 2 friends on homemade bikes like from the 40's

Lol. going to the wrong house for AirBnb. One of my biggest fears every single time. One thing we did was preload maps and star-ed locations into the google maps app that way it's work even when you don't have a data connection. Still though, its so uncomfortable to let yourself into someones house with them not home.

Hi Guys I like your videos but miss the boat. As a BMW rider I would have gone with one of them. Good luck with the aural! PS. I follow several sailing and motorcycle adventure sites RUclips and you definitely have the best music.
It's a pity you got to travel some much distance without actually stopping to visit the towns and cities you drove through. Enjoy your travel anyhow!

You'll need to get South into Italy - try Lake Iseo and Greve in Chianti (anywhere in Tuscany is off the charts beautiful) - Italians at the beach are a sight you cant miss!

I love your new adventure, just a bit sad that you guys couldn't stay longer to explore all the small towns you pass by.
So are we. But we figure that this trip would be a good general overview and then we can always come back and spend a month or so at a time in the countries that we really liked.

I know there is a whole macho motorcycle thing out there, but - really there is no shame in a trailer if it gets the bike to even more awesome places. .You ride the bike in the awesome areas and trailer it again. I've done it.

Rambling thoughts: Yup, get another boat, just stay out of Zika territory. A boat with a heater? Maybe do the Great Lakes. At least with THAT bike, you don't need cruise control, just hold it wide open. Lol. Be careful, and drive very defensively... safe travels
I want to encourage you to do what ever your hearts desire is and follow your dreams but I do wish you were back on the boat... lol Now, I love motorcycles, and this sidecar adventure is awesome but you just seem like boat people rather than bike people. lol Cheers and safe sailing I mean biking....

Interesting. Not even a 1 minute update from the EU in nearly a month and you guys have had plenty of time to get south to warmer weather. It seems something hasn't went as planned. A true adventure is when things don't go as planned. I think everyone just hopes that you doing well in your absence.

A Dnepr should have no problem at 2400m. I was at 3500m with an overloaded 2 CV which has less HP than your Dnepr and it was flawless.
Do you know about the annual "Elefantentreffen" (Elephant Meeting) in february I the snow of Austria? Especially old Zündapp of WW II are going there every year to camp in the snow and to have fun.

I hate to say it but I can't wait until you get back on a boat. I still like following y'all but it's just not the same.
I'm still curious as to how and why you chose a Ural for your adventure. As someone who has done a great deal of motorcycle touring, almost any other choice would have been better. That is, unless you were factoring additional challenges into your adventure.
We wanted a motorcycle with a sidecar and really liked the looks of the Ural. That's really all that went into the decision making. Was this the most well thought out plan? No. Definitely not. But the bike has done us proud so far! And we also like to see what happens when we make decisions on whims :)
If you go to Italy you have to try the Pizza vending machines.
