This may be our WORST idea yet (Ep 26 - Monday Never Sidecar)

  • We typically keep our episodes light hearted and focused on our fun time traveling. But in order to appreciate the good, sometimes, you need to go through some of the realities of pushing outside of your comfort zone. So for all of you who wonder what goes during some of our off-camera conversations, we decided to capture these movements for our first episode of living on the road. And it doesn’t go so well at first. So “not well” that we almost throw in the towel.
But it’s a good thing we don’t, because already by day 2, our tunes are changing and we persevere.
We still don’t know what this trip will become, but we promise to take you along with us for the ride.
Thank you to all of you who have shared your advice and words of encouragement. We couldn’t do it without you!
And a VERY VERY special thank you to our Patrons. These insanely generous souls help keep the camera equipment working and the videos a-coming. To join the Patreon ranks, please visit / mondaynever

Fresh Motorcycle licenses, straight to traveling.... That's ballsy! I remember when I first took my test, it took me almost a month to hit the freeway ;-/ Ural are a riot, but you're right. Trying to turn them when loaded down isn't easy!

The good thing about the winter is that there are no bugs, so yeah, try to keep positive and not overthink too much. And if you like roadtrips but don't feel comfortable about the sidecar, you can always get a classic reliable car, like a land rover for example or even a vw campervan, and continue with that

It'll get better as you go, your muscles will adapt to the bike and you'll learn things to make camping a breeze. Two tips, always dig a small trench the width of the tent for your hips to lay in while you sleep, even with a Thermarest this works wonders, and always cover your tent with a big blue tarp! That way you always put your tent away dry and it separates the amateurs from the pros lol. Looking forward to the rest of this series! Can't wait to see what's next!

    Thanks for another quality video.
Downsizing this much, and traveling this light requires dedication, planning and attention to detail, things I know you two can do.
Many people travel the world on motorcycles, so we know it can be done. It just depends on how much you're willing to 'rough it' on the cheep, or how deep your pockets are to stay in the occasional (or always) hotel, hostel, or Air BnB.
Wishing you a Safe Journey, and Happy Camping!

You guys are awesome. 30+ years of motorcycle touring all over North, Central and South America and I found you when researching buying a boat and casting off to the Caribbean! Always wanted to do Europe... Some sage advice is to take half as much stuff and twice as much money. synthetic clothes pack small and dry quick after a sink wash. Stay hydrated, long moto days can make you hallucinate. Never ever ride something you can't fix on the side of the road (BMW solonoid with wheels). Cheers and have fun!

riding your Ural across Europe in winter is going to be challenging in so many ways. best advise I can give you from my 45 years of riding is to assume EVERY vehicle on the road is trying to run you over so you can never let your guard down. Be safe and enjoy your new adventure.

Cheers to you kids for taking on this adventure! It is the kind of thing that many of arm chair bikers would have loved to have done in our youth but for whatever just didn't do it. Having visited England & Scotland back in the early 80's, you will really be happy to have done so too. Looking forward to the upcoming videos! Cat, I'm your size and I've developed a thin layer formula that works for me. Thought I would share: 2 long tank tops under a thin stretchy turtle neck, a fitted wool turtleneck sweater, a thin wind hoodie under my belted down jacket (belt is key for heat and shape ;) and I don't feel any pain while hiking all day in the snow or walking around Manhattan! Patagonia is an amazing brand for outdoor thin layers but layering anything that's thin with a bit of stretch works. You can find great inexpensive winter wear in Europe but you have to ask the locals where they shop and there's always H&M. Oh also thigh high tights are comfortable under pants! Then 2 years ago we rediscovered hand and foot warmers... heaven! Good luck. Can't wait to see what you guys are up to next_

Good for you! The scenery looked great. I love riding a motorcycle, myself, so I can relate to what you're experiencing. Ya know... many others have traveled by bike (motorized) and so... you should be able to talk to some long distance bikers and perhaps receive a few tips.
About the power of that Ural... You could consider a mod or two that adds additional horsepower. Depending upon funds available you could also upgrade to a BMW with a sidecar. Even a 10 year old BMW for example would have far more power, enabling cruising at higher speeds with little effort.
