  • We get our first visitors! Cat's parents come down to spend a week bopping around the BVIs. They make sure we are safe and well-fed. Once they leave, then it's back to the grind at Nanny Cay as we make out dingy outboard cover look rad and prepare to leave the Virgins. We also spend a few nights in the USVIs where we go hunting for some dinner.
    Check out our blog: www.mondaynever... or our FB page: / mondaynever to follow us on our misadventures

    Stuff a pillow , a cushion, or a rolled up towel behind that door that is driving you crazy. Just wedge it in so the door can't move. Great videos! Thanks for sharing! Good Luck!

      +Monday Never As for that annoying door, (If you're familiar with Bristle Blocks,), Bristle Blocks work like a heavy duty variation of Velcro. Pearson Yachts used them on some of their boats, and they worked like a champ. BTW do you have harnesses, and tethers on the boat? looking forward to your next video.

    Okay. Gotta comment! I laughed so hard with your filming technique of the annoying latch on the door. Ha ha ha. I had the same problem. What a pain in the eardrums! I finally places a rag between the door and the object it was latched to so dampen the knocking sound. Gosh! What a relief!

    Good vid. Easy fix for the door latch. Roll up a piece of paper and stuff it in the loop of the latch on the wall. It will keep the door latch from making that sound. Also, look at wind charts before you decide to drop hook. Being on the leeward side of the island may provide better protection from the wind and thus a better night. The paint job looked awesome btw!

    Hey guys, great to see another young couple following a dream, living life for adventures, experiences shared etc, rather than a land locked life of stuff and commitments. You guys kind of remind me of the Aussie couple Riely and Elyana on La Vagabonde. Enjoy, projects are for sure just a part of the life of the sea. Out of curiosity can you give some details of your boat.
    I look forward to changing my life from work, commitments and stuff and likewise embarking on my sail journey. Fair winds

    Its very enjoying to watch your" up and downs" of learning about boating and the ocean! I rarely comment on videos but I just had to on yours. Nice job on catching some lobster! When it comes to cooking the tails its much better to split them in half and cook them that way. Shell side down lets them cooking their juices. Much more even cook and the outside meat doesn't get chewy! Break off one of the antennae and stick it up the pooper and pull it out to remove the waste trail after wringing the lobster. Some grat meat in the heads on the bigger ones also.
    Also glad to see you guys seem to be slowing down a bit from the city life attitude and getting into the laid back island life! Every video you seem more relaxed. If you make it up to the bahamas you will really get this point.
    You can get the best sleep of your life on a boat or none at all. Both are great! For me the best feeling in life is being far out to sea with no land in sight. If the ocean is alive its even better.
    You guys should check out this couple. Sailing la vagabonde. You guys seem like opposites but boating and a life on the ocean brings all together. ruclips.net/channel/UCZdQjaSoLjIzFnWsDQOv4ww
    Learn to fish also. The ocean provides great meals.
    Good luck with the journey!

      +Jonathan Kaany Hey Jonathan - thanks for the kind words! Your tip on the lobster is much appreciated too. We realized we kinda messed up on our first grilling attempt, but it was still delicious. We'll try it your way next time. We LOVE La Vaga! They and the Delos crew definitely provided a lot of inspiration for us as we were dreaming about this trip. And yes, fishing is definitely next! A pretty steep learning curve there, but I'm sure we'll get it at some point. Cheers - Cat & Will

    • @jonathank5289
      @jonathank5289 8 лет назад

      +Monday Never - For just the tails its best to make a bowl out of tin foil to keep the juices from leaking out. Add a little butter also. You can also cut the whole lobster straight down the middle then clean out the guts and grill them that way while basting them with butter also. On a grill I put the top on to crisp up the the top side. I'm sure you can google many ways. If you want to do the tails whole steaming or boiling is the best. This is how I normally cook the tails. I like the way they taste with just butter so I rarely add seasoning. You can google many other ways to cook them.
      la vaga just posted a e-book or you can buy the hard copy for $7 bucks with the lessons they've learned. No I don't work for them. lol.I wish i did something like this years ago but I can't complain as I've spent my life on boats and countless months spent fishing and diving in the bahamas.
      As for the fishing I can help you out with some tips when the time comes. Right now I'm sure learning to sail is more of a concern.
      Also both of you should learn to run to the boat by yourselves. Also during night sails it never hurts to keep a glow stick in your pocket in case one of you falls over board. Hopefully that never happens but hitting the man overboard on the gps and circling back to find someone holding up a glow stick in the dark is much easier than looking for a dark head bobbing around in the waves. If you post videos on rough seas without a life jacket on and a safety harness they'll eat you alive like they do Riley not wearing anything during rough seas.
      Well I've rambled on enough for now.

    The bit about the door latch (at 7:01) had me laughing out loud, for real. Oh, the irony!

    Hey! First comment! Nice tack. I have a similar problem with my fridge. Some of them just dump to the bilge. Never seen one pump before. What you are pointing to is the foot pump? Mine is plumbed into the sink overboard. Therefore there is always two or three inches of not-so-wholesome water in the bottom. I just about cut it the other day but talked myself out of it.

    I should state for the record that we do, in fact, have solutions for the clacking of the door latch (closing the door or jamming a towel in between). This was just an observation of both the nature of perpetual motion and poorly thought out engineering.

    • @justinroski4994
      @justinroski4994 8 лет назад

      +Monday Never You could also just use an expanding spray foam to fill both eyelets, smooth it out then put the proper sized holes through them as a more permanent solution.
      Come to think of it, you could even do something as simple as wrapping the hook in tape.

      I'd love to do what you guys are doing. Did you already know how to sail?

    i saw your part about the door hinge. I have an untested idea... what about a mini gas strut? As an example: www.indgassprings.com/micro-gas-spring.html

    I was going to subscribe to your videos but your language is not what we want our children to hear when we sit down and watch our videos.

      +Perry McDonald Hey Perry, sorry to hear that, but we're trying to capture a bit of the reality of sailing (or life?), and frustration and the language that comes with it is part of that. Hope you understand!

      +Monday Never I started watching at the beginning and by part 4 I was subbed. And it wasn't so much that you dropped that F-Bomb, but precisely how you said it, that ensured I will be watching each new episode as soon as they're up. Keep that shit salty, you guys are too much fun.
