This rendition gives me the image of a fast galloping horse in my head; I think it's down to the driving percussive rhythms. Pretty sublime rendition of a pretty sublime song! Thanx for putting it up bonoman66 😃
Cherisse has wonderful skills. She has an amazing technical ability and understanding when it comes to drumming. Very fast to pick things up and work out the required parts. She's also a really nice person - great with the fans, giving them time and very modest. Thanks for taking time to watch the song. Cheers 👍
goldsaj You're welcome. Glad you like the clip & appreciate you taking the time to comment. Agree wholeheartedly about The Minds. They are a super band to their many generations of fans & never fail to give their best show on any occasion I've been lucky enough to see them. Cheers
A brilliant performance. Cherise's drumming skills, of course stunning! I have been to Natal, near Durban-When you see Zulu warriors making a lot of noise- very impressive!
Yeah Sheldon - it was nice to see that happen at the live show. The band and Jim in particular, not afraid of having that physical connection and interaction with their fans. Cherisse impressed with her skills. Shes a wonderfully talented musician, especially at a techical level and a super live performer. Her vlogs on the tour were a lovely insight and nice of her to take the time and effort to film and share them with us. I've a lot of respect for this band. Glad you liked the video. Thanks for your comment. 👍
They have a genre of their own. - I defy anyone to categorise them, rock? Pop? no sorry for me its a truly original sound. loved them since I was 17, I'm now 67 and seeing them next year in Adelaide.
A very talented group of singers, songwriters and musicians, one and all. This was a great tour and to be able to see them in such a relatively intimate venue was brilliant. The Minds never let their audience down. It was a wonderful 2 nights. Thank you for watching and for your comment Kirstine.
Maybe it's a venue where you're supposed to stay seated (?) Otherwise I can't see a Simple Minds show not having people standing at all. That's just wrong.
@@kristeninthedirtysouth Correct. The crowd were told by venue staff to sit down as this was meant to be an acoustic intimate gig etc.. The crowd did stand on several occassions and were let away with it by venue staff nearer the end of the gig. Lots of artists have such shows that are sold as meant to be seated. Simple Minds have played this venue lots of times and crowds have always been full of energy, standing, clapping, singing along, but they were their full on rock shows. This was something a bit different.
It's a long way from 50,000 people in Croke Park. Jim's mean spiritedness and lack of confidence has Mel fired, Mick McNeil has been waiting to be asked to return for over 15 years, Derek is too much for Jim, all this has resulted in Kerr playing to roughly 1200 people in a city that had FIFTY times the amount of fans decades ago. It's a sad state of affairs. Jim wants more money so he gets younger cheaper hired hands where if he got the original line up back he'd at least do do nights at the 3 Arena. Letting Mel go after his loyalty over the years is vomit inducing. This is coming from a fan.
Totally agree. Jim’s ego has turned an epic band into a sad vanity project. They’re playing Dubai on this upcoming tour - so much for “ain’t gonna play sun city”
I know that SM went through their shitty stadium phase after they released Sparkle in the Rain, but I have to admire how they've stuck to the course, play smaller venues and keep the old fan-favourites on the playlist.
But they never quite got past the stadium rock aesthetic after going in that direction a long time ago. This show and the one I saw 2 years ago are no exception. It felt more like an aged rock band than an aged new wave / futurist one. They may play smaller venues, but they're loaded af. Kerr's net worth is around $45m.
It's different drumming: she plays a lot more of a percussive style drums on top of a computer drum track (that's not acoustic of course, but I leave that to the purists). Mel Gaynor is of course the man, but I don't feel she drums badly.
There I am Jim on my knee still what a memory to have and 85k views lol brilliant
Great memory to have Sue. What a show it was 👍
Remember 84 , got married and still going strong 36 years later , great times 💃🕺
What a fantastic band and so many fantastic tracks. Loving the interaction with the audience.👍
Looking forward to seeing them in Dublin 2025 - Trinity College. Absolute legends!!
Wonderful - what a tune - takes me back to my new romantic days as a student in Dublin...
Amazing band! I love Simple Minds!👌♥️👍👉♥️🙏

Super.
Ça fait vraiment plaisir de les revoir en concert.😃😃😃

Even for a mostly acoustic version it still sounds smashing!
Hey that was fantastic !! The drummer Lady was fabulous 💗

Absolutely brilliant,
A brilliant performance. Cherise's drumming skills, of course stunning! I have been to Natal, near Durban-When you see Zulu warriors making a lot of noise- very impressive!
She is greattttt
That was awesome. Going in the crowd! Cherisse is grand.

Superbe intro chérisse
Never thought I'd see SM before a sitting audience.....

Great stuff from Cherisse Osei (@Cherissedrums)
genius perfectos
La più favolosa
band without pretentions
just nice, also in small theaters
Saw'em at the Warfield in San Fran, back in the 80s. What a show!
NEW GOLD DREAM...
Where did this percussionist come from? As if the music wasn't great enough.
Jim love
5:37 Jim is mischievous! ))))))

😂

Mel gaynor was the back bone of the band he should never have been pushed out

Cherisse doesn't hold a candle to Mel. No comparison whatsoever.
It's the music business...Who cares, that was some performance .Jim Kerr is a legend.

Thank God you could vent here.😋
Anything that included Mick MacNeil, Derek Forbes, and Mel Gaynor was not shitty. That was the most finely tuned era of Simple Minds.
crowd on armchair ! God damned i am getting old too
Was there on the 8th the next day, don't see any footage of that one
Cherise, quite good, but could learn more from the masters?
And hot
That's a front man.
That’s when that place was normal
Sorry, but substituting acoustic instruments just takes the power and impact of the song away.
Mel gainer
Jim your a leg-gend
AND the only BASSIST is... DEREK FORBES!!!!!
The ONLY drummer of Simple Minds is MEL GAYNOR!!!!!!!!!
Like karaoke no Mel king of drum no no please
Mel Gaynor is irreplaceable. (Watches Cherisse Osei). No, he's replaceable alright!
NADA A VER. A BANDA ACABOU. O BATERA ANTIGO ERA MUITO MELHOR. ESSA MULHER NADA A VER. ESTRAGOU A BANDA..
Bad drumming. Bring back Mel Gaynor.
