Wow I'm 55 tired and worn out, yet you had me back on my feet, tears running down my face with joy and my hips were moving like i was 16 again. Thanks for it all your the GOAT.🥰
At 65, Jim has the same wonderful voice he once had. I remember my first New Gold Dream vinyl with which I was delighted and since then I have always listened to and seen them live several times. Jim has always been my idol! ❤👑🎤🎶
In all fairness, he's only singing the parts that anyone can sing. Anything out of his range are handled by backup vocals. That's very common with aging vocalists as vocal chords dry out and get tight. They can still hit the notes but not project them on a live stage. Again, it's not just him, it's a normal part of aging vocal chords. Once warmed up he pushes a bit more but song selection is key as he needs to work up to the more challenging work.
The gift that keeps on giving. Jim Kerr and his ability to rouse a crowd with their still utterly magical songs will never ever get old. What a band, what a performance and a set list that just makes you feel good to be alive. Bravo Simple Minds and Bravo the Isle of White festival.
@@Northerner1966it’s funny that I remember the same sentiments being expressed by my parents about Simple Minds and other acts when they were first emerging in the early 80s: “It’s just noise. It was much better in my day” 😂

Right up there with INXS. Great bands of the 80's. Still, Sherbet and Howzat still takes some beating...😂 Btw, I do actually love that tune. Love from the UK 🇬🇧
@@tonyska Great to hear you comment about Sherbet and Howzat who had the best drummer in Australia at the time. We had great bands that should have been bigger like Mi Sex and Skyhooks and a NZ band called Dragon to name a few. Icehouse was phenomenal. INXS were amazing from the word go. All great bands of the 80s and let’s not forget Madness and The Specials and that unbelievable album from The Clash. Cheers from Melbourne Australia.🇦🇺☮️

Loved the 80s and it style and influence. Sending heaps of respect from Melbourne Australia.👍
Cherisse Osei is a monster drummer for sure. Back in the day though, Mel Gaynor was a drumming hero to me. ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ is one of the greatest drum grooves ever captured on record. I had a poster of him on one of the walls in my drum room for Premier Drums. What a great time to have been alive.
I saw Simple Minds in Vancouver many years ago. They were excellent live. Their double live album in the City of Lights was one of the best live albums I've ever heard. Good to see them still Alive and Kicking!!!
So beautiful, after all these years, He's so Special!!!!!!!! Thank God for giving us this wonderful Man and his Voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have seen Simple Minds so many times, and have yet to see a better group live. Masters of their trade. I get very emotional every time I see them as it brings back memories of my late brother who passed away 20 years ago, he was a super fan, he went everywhere to see them. Seeing them for the first time together with him at Milton Keynes bowl (one of many) on a scorching hot day in 1986 is a memory I will cherish forever ❤️
THERE IS ONLY TWO OF THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS LEFT AS THERE WAS NO FEMALE SINGERS IN THE ORIGINAL SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF YOUR BROTHER DEACON BLUE ARE BETTER THEN THESE AND THEY ARE BRILLIENT FROM FIRST SONG TO THE LAST SONG ALSO FROM GLASGOW
@@garypring2658 In your opinion. After 38 years of seeing them live, I am aware of the bands changing line up thanks. I have also seen Deacon Blue 5 times, they were dreadful on each occasion…in my opinion.
Loss of someone close, a family member is so hard to deal with, and it's sad to hear of yours. I have often struggled with listening to some music that takes the emotions back to earlier days when the loss didn't exist. Your brother certainly sounds like he was a devoted fan of a band that has given so many great live performances through the years, which no doubt he enjoyed hugely. You must have lots of fond memories to cherish.
I was at the IOW festival watching this gig and I completely agree with them being Masters of their trade! Such an awesome performance with the sun setting! Loved it!
I never get tired of Simple Minds. My first concert was Simple Minds in 1985 in Valby, just outside Copenhagen. I was 15 Years old. My first record was Simple Minds New Gold Dream. Simple Minds was bigger than U2 until U2 did The Joshua Tree album.
I am almost 64. I was resident dj in Tiffany's, Edinburgh (Mecca). Monday nights were live music night, Regular Music promoted those nights. The dj box was on the stage, I saw Simple Minds, I think 4 times there from only a few feet away. They were awesome every performance. That was a long time ago, pre Virgin Records deal days.
Simple Minds WERE an excellent band but the rave/ baggy scene killed them. Us young fans just upped and left. The minds music no longer meant anything to us especially after that god awful SFY.

I'm so glad I had my youth, period!
Charlie has to be one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. He's a powerhouse who's sound has defined SM over the decades.
For me it was always Mark Knopfler (Dire Straights), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), and Charlie Burchill (Simple Minds). All great guitarists.
Charlie is one of the ten best guitarists on this planet. It is obvious.
Charlie and Derek Forbes defined their sound. He is an monster bassist
💯 Absolutely agree! Incredibly underrated! Charlie Burchill is an unsung genius on guitar.
He's not underrated. Trust me.
I am 62 today and i remember thoses golden years ….thanks to simple minds. Incredible sound. ❤

Simple minds with one set completely wipe out every act at glastonbury oh yeah my friends

No imagination in the line ups just Coldplay and endless rap crap.
I agree 💯 if I were one of the organisers of Glastonbury they would be headlining one of the nights instead of the nonsense that does
