One of the best 80s tracks...a masterpiece...timeless
Legends are never afraid to sing live! Jim Kerr is one of them!
Τώρα έμαθα τό όνομα του τραγουδιστή των συμπλεμαινντς μετά από τόσα χρόνια φωνάρα ο κερατάς και τρομερό συγκρότημα κοματαρα μπράβο μπράβο μπράβο
I totally agree
I agree, and another Legend is Simon LeBon of Duran Duran. I think the only time he hit a note off key was in Band/Live Aid singing "A View to a Kill" and it was caught on video. But, you figure, after 45 yrs singing. Having one little mistake is amazing!
His voice is still like butter!
@@Katrinawitch Is this sarcasm?
It doesn't resemble the previous version
I graduated in 1986. People these days just don't understand how good our music was. "The Breakfast Club" is such an underappreciated movie.
HS class of 85. Even my son as a teen loved breakfast club.
1985 here, MTV intrtoduced too sooooooooooo many artists during our HIGH SCHOOLS , CHEERS !!
@@BRUTUSPLAC Roger that! Back when MTV & VH1 actually played music videos! We grew up in such an awesome time. I watched MTV more than any other tv shows when I was in HS. I got to meet Billy Idol in '84 when he came to Tampa. He was pretty cool. Take care of yourself. Cheers from America!
@@TheMichaelBeck I Heard Yeah ., Billy Idol ,, Excellent . Im here in CT.
It was great to be alive
They are playing to a half empty room but they are producing a stadium performance! That’s a sign of greatness.
No they are not. It is a well known TV program. Where all the bands play live.
Never known another programme like it, a well known act might play alongside some African tribal drummers - and all of the performers get a chance to appreciate each others talents.
My old boss loved Rush before they were worldwide huge. Came to his town and literally 50 people showed up to the 5,000 seat arena. Instead of canceling he said they called everyone down to the stage and played a 3hr set like it was totally packed.
Wawo thé drummer ❤❤❤
Probably maybe half the audience or more were not even born when this classic came out.. Jim still rocks!!
Half the band too ;)
@@paulkelcher824 Can be..haha..
Age has it's effect on Jim Kerr's voice but still good to listen to. 80's classic!
Used to dance to this in my night club days 💃🏻😀
I was
The drummer is so fantastic!!!!!. A lot of energy, awesome, great band Simple Minds !!! I love them!!!!
She’s fricking AWESOME!! Love her energy and her hair is stunning!!
And she plays with Heels ! Amazing.
That's Cherisse Osei, she is a force to be reckoned with! 💪
Yes...she's superb🌷 does'nt need to go to the gym.
@@PaolaEnergya What happened to the other drummer?
One of the best bands ever in Rock history!!! Kerr's voce and Charlie's playing are still top notch!!! A song that will last for ages!!!
Charlie is a beast that guitar sound live is amazing
@@alexjenkins5632 And he's still got his hair. They are brilliant even after all these years.
@@alexjenkins5632 Charlie is most definitely a BEAST!!! TOTALLY AGREE! ONE OF MY FAVE GUITARIST OF ALL TIME!!! SO UNDERRATED!
They are however I’m struggling with the bass player.. I think he was in prefab sprout???. Absolutely no personality and I’m suspicious about what he is actually playing.. I suspect things are on a loop and he might put a few chords in.. I’m sorry but simple minds means so much to me I just can’t help be sceptical
His voice is still amazing over the years... So talented❤
Superb! brings me to tears it was so good! The saying "that woman is beating those drums like they owe her money" goes right here!
You know what a great song is? when after all these years you still get excited to hear it, tap your feet and sing along‼️
For that we can thank Keith Forsey and Steve Schiff, the writers.
Yep you can say that again love it
The same feeling 😮
Dec. 1985. Driving licence rookie. First journey with my two best friends to Cortina d'Ampezzo (into placed family caravan all winter) without my parents. 350Km, old Ford tiny car 900cc from my town nearby Rimini. 6 hours of Simple Minds 🙂 I think we listened 30 times "Don't you forget about me..".
In Cortina, thanks to my cousin, we met a group of girls which studied in local secondary school (wood and textil arts). Someone of them from Corvara, Belluno, or Pustertal. There was a skinny pretty girl, short hair, like Patsy Kensit but brown. I was very shy at that time so I can't understood if something I felt was the same also for her. So I investigated the matter some months later back with another friend (he completed military duty two weeks before). So during an evening winter walk at -15°C I was finally alone with Lorenza, hand by hand for the first time. My friend and the girl from Corvara some tens of meter ahead. While I am discussing about last book reading, the main M. K. Gandhi biography, she stopped my bla bla kissed me for 7 minutes! 🙂It was the first time and my first girl for one year. With Simple Minds soundtrack, natürlich! Other long journey, also for a weekend only, but to Bruneck destination than Cortina (+80Km).🙂
Great voice after 40 years!
The drummer is phenomenal. Jim is such a great performer. Wonderful.
Cherisse Osei
She’s an amazing drummer love her ❤
And that is the incredible Sarah Brown singing backup.
Indeed. They just should have tuned the snare sound for this song, it was so phenomenal!
Still no Derek Forbes or Mel Gaynor?
His voice is still alive more than ever, he rocks!
Jim Kerr singing better now than ever. What a voice
The soundtrack of our lives , for us the teenagers of the 80s , this live performance is outstanding completely
His Voice is still amazing over decades.
No it’s not
NO it sounds terrible, get your hearing tested
It's not amazing, it sounds croaky, husky and monotone, and nothing like the record, or say as in the Live Aid
@@laxeystu8096 Agreed
@@laxeystu8096totally agree!! He needs to stop singing..Its not even in tune
What great young talent, wow the drummer is brilliant👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
drum sound is weak as s***...not a patch on Mel Gaynor's sound.
@@davidb9213 Mel didn't drum in high heels 😄
cherisse Osei
@@davidb9213watch the 40 year anniversary of New Gold Dream live from Paisley Abbey…that should address your criticism of her drumming.
Singing, performing live on stage, etc... Jim Kerr’s got it in spades, always have, always will. Good going, Lads!!! ♥♣♦♠
Of all the 80s bands that are still "alive and kicking" these days (and making various come-backs), this band still sounds so truly energetic and emotional in true 80s form. Just epic!
My favorite song from the 80s!! Never tire of hearing it!! 🎵
Time can change physical appearance but not this huge talent ♥ Love you all
Stunning, absolutely stunning. Gave me goosebumps. That's how you write songs that raise your spirits and raise the roof!
This wasnt one they wrote. They didnt want to do this one originally. Theres a long long story about it. Jim and Charlie took a lot of convincing to record this track back in the day.
Was originally offered to Billy Idol to record if I am not mistaken
@@windyhillbomber Yep you're absolutely correct, it was.
@@windyhillbomber Billy Idol eventually did record his own version, it's on his Greatest Hits.
@@lenwennerberg1631 I had no idea. I will have a listen. Reeks of too little, too late from Billy as he must’ve been kicking himself for knocking back the song in the first place.
Absolutely one of the best bands Ever!!! This song takes me back to my childhood! Love Simple Minds!!! ❤🎵
This song is simply a gem of the eighties and Simple Minds an iconic band.
Written, of course, by Keith Forsey and Steve Schiff.
Totally agree!!!👍- I have always said that and there were a lot of good ones!!!!!!!¡👍
Absoluley amazing love this band still sound the same has they did back in the 80s Great voice Jim Kerr ❤🎤🎸🎼
Wow! Audio perfection. Live on TV never sounded so good.
great sound balance - agree!
One of the best live performances I've ever seen.
I can't decide the best reasons I keep returning to this. Christine and the queens dancing along lost in time, Cherisse on the drums absolutely destroying it, Jim's voice at the 'won't you call my naaaaaaaaaaaame' section. Perhaps it's just an incredible song and performance!!
Classic ! That drummers hair was on fire ! Literally !
Legendary, pure magic, a timeless and iconic song.
A baterista é sensacional!
Makes me proud to be from Glasgow .Scotland has produced many good bands but none of them have stood the test of time that Simple Minds have.Fantastic band.
Simple minds , and the greatest sir Kenny Dalglish
Big Country? Associates? Bronski Beat? Cocteau twins? Altered Images?
Most of those bands are no more or a terrible imitation of what they were.
Charlie Burchill still a fantastic guitarist with a style of his own. Pity he wasn’t recognised more for his skills in the usual guitar circles!
Love Charlie's playing. He has such great atmospheric sensibilities, like his guitar is a backdrop for the overall sound of the band. I think Billy Duffy of The Cult has similar sensibilities, but more of his guitar is at the forefront of his band's overall sound due to less keyboards in their music.
@@cocktailhotel
Yes completely agree there. Geordie Walker of Killing Joke has again similar qualities in as his guitar creates atmospheric textures and is a huge part of the band’s overall sound!
Fuck the usual guitar snob circles.
Exactly.
Spot on guys. Charlie, Billy Duffy, and Geordie are three of my favourite guitarists. They all have individual, instantly recognisable styles. John McGeoch as well.
Say what! What a performance. Gave the chills. 🔥🎶🎸
That was good, all right, and I love Cherisse Osei, the drummer! But this 2014 performance is the best version I think -

I agree totally. This performance is pure, energetic 🔥🔥🔥! I can't stop watching it.
What a drummer!!!! Great Simple Minds, from 80' to endless....

WOWOWOWOWOW!! Sounding great!! One of my favorite songs and one of my most favorite movies ever! Also, your drummer is absolutely GORGEOUS !! LOVE her beautiful hair.
Her drumming kicks ass!
As brilliant as the first time I ever heard this song on the radio. Saw them live back in the 80’s
I was an 18 year old from Canada hitch hiking around the UK. I saw them in a little club in Newcastle in 1980. Amazing. I recently found the old ticket stub!
Fantastic song and voice, so good and refresh new members, and so strong original members of the band. Its an absolut classic of all times, eternal Simple Minds, live long to 80's classic, one of the best hits of world music. Simple Minds its simply a lot of emotions and remembers of our history lifes. Wish a long live to you!
You covered everything. Great comments
One of the best bands to have graced this earth, legends and still going, awesome.
I was 18 when this hit the charts ........far better times than now
Me too
When life was a ball but now It IS Serious !
Living Legends!
They never lost ist. Simple Minds still great Performers, great Band.
The best bit about this is the look on the other artists faces as they realise they are present at a master class. Once again Jim and the band show how it should be done, long may they reign!
A 'master class'?
This was a good song on the CD, but this croaky flat rendition is awful
Essa baterista toca muitoooooo. Cherisse ossei top demais amo
Brilliant. Jesus, that guitar and Jims voice. Still kicking the roof off.
Everyone is "on" in this performance--the energy is fantastic!!! Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, Ged Grimes, Gordon Goudie, Sarah Brown, Cherisse Osei and Berenice Scott. 🌟👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌟!!!
A baterista é muito fera.... Toca com o coração... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Cherisse Osei
Exceptional drummer, played with many bands / artists. So full on 👏
Always loved Jim’s voice, this band!
Wow the drummer was amazing...
Back then a classic song nearly every week. What a decade indeed....
This song will always be remembered as the greatest new wave song of the 1980s.
Hmmm... you know that the writers Keith Forsey and Steve Schiff offered it first to Bryan Ferry? He didn't want it.
"new wave"? In 1986?
The Breakfast is such a staple for drama groups everywhere... a timeless masterpiece.
Followed these guys since 1981 when Love Song was released in Australia. I love this band. They could break wind in a bottle and l would buy their album. Keep kicking guys✌️🇦🇺🙏
Love SM. From Argentina 80’s Rules!
I L♡VE Jim Kerr's voice 🎶🥰🎶
Absolute tune!!❤
What a power has the girl on the drumm!!!! And the sound of the bass guitar love it!! THIS IS AN ANTHEM!!!
They still sound great and a live set.
Still a great performance and song in 2024! Health and happiness all! ✌🏼
So good! Timeless band, timeless music, song, and Jim's voice is still amazing! Epic.
It is amazing that he feels able to sing this live with a voice that has apparently deteriorated significantly
Seen these live back in the late 80s at Wembley Arena still doing it live Big Respect and Love❤
Me too! 😂
Me to, just incredible
Yeah I was there too. Brilliant light show as well.
80s masterpiece...!!! The drummer came from above...!!!
Os anos 80 e suas músicas incríveis!!!...👏👏👏
Fantastic !!!!!
Sometimes small things, unpretentious projects, become miracles for some unknown reason. That a simple movie about a bunch of confused kids jailed in school was so unbelievably special as to be a part of watcher´s sentimental life is weird, and great. The match in heaven that "The breakfast Club", in all its innocence, and the song is, still can move me in the sweetest way, decades after both.
They play live so much it’s just becomes so easy for them.
Best live band ever.
Still getting goosebumps 37 years later 💕💕💕💕💕☘️☘️☘️☘️🌹🌹🌹🌹
Great performance, great song! All band members are truly amazing from drums, guitars, the blonde keyboard lady, Jim, Charlie, the backing vocals etc. Great team effort to perform a great song!
BEST song ever...
51 yr old Jeff from Boston,Ma. here. For I grew up in the 80's & Never paid any attention to the group whos Song this was ,Other then it was Used in a Huge 80's Smash Movie called The Breakfast Club ! But Now that i am older know & More Mature ect....But Because of Todays Techknowledgey I Can Appreciate That kinda performance from,Who is it ,"Jim Kerr " I would NEVER know his name But that Performance left me Completely Speechless here .One of the BEST LIVE Video I have ever SEEN ,Anykind of Music ,Any Generation ! For REAL For i never say that about any1 !!!!! Great job to Simple Minds !
Good stuff. it still sends me there ^^
An eternal Hit for a great band ! A moving thought for Mel, Derek and Michael, we miss you so ! For sure !
Props to the drummer playing with 👠...Badass
A baterista é uma vitalidade surreal. E a banda e simplesmente fantástica
a mi tambien me gustò mucho esa mujer , como baterista y como mujer claro 😍😋
E com tocos altos!
@@elcaminante500 es buenísima. Giró con Bryan Ferry y es una delicia verle tocar, es Cherisse Osei

I would have a bet ; Ewa Pajor to score a Gola in the final uefa girls cup ;
Saw them live twice this year absolute class, all of the band members just bounce off each other, it's seamless from one timeless hit to the next, but I have to say they sounded much better than they do in this video it simply doesn't do them justice
Nostalgic!
So amazing jim Kerr, the best times, legends who can sing still, the best xx
Bad Ass & much 🫶🏼 from McAllen Tx 956!✌🏼 I ❤ the 80’s 🎶
LEGEND FOREVER
Kerr on top of his game. Kudos to Charlie and Cherisse!
My favourite tune ever.
pasan los años y la voz de jim kerr sigue todavia poderosa
Sweet 80's 🇵🇹🤓
Awesome performance! And the drummer girl has energy to heat the sun itself! Brillian!
One of the best live bands on Planet. Have saw them so many times live and it was everytime an outstanding, awesome performance...
Fantastic! Oh my God! Time flies!
The lady on drums is on fire, and Jim sounds fantastic, he still got it
I Love simple minds❤❤
Fabulous!!! What an amazing band and what a fantastic drummer! 👍🥁🎶🎸
My favorite song of all time since it came out. I was 4 in 1985 ❤️
This guy's voice just got better with age. Killer performance of an era-defining song.
Listen to the original recording and compare.
When was this performance?
Ehh, I definitely wouldn’t go that far. You can’t tell me that his voice now is better than his voice at Live Aid 1985
No chance
That's a fantastic performance of a fantastic song! Love it since its first release.
not the simple minds I grew up with
but i'll live. that said, they still got it!
just listen to Charlie and the band. Sounds bloody amazing live too
Oh, the nostalgia, it hits.
Simple minds simple minds. What a performance, they never phone it in.
Watch and learn up and coming bands.
O coração da Banda a garota da bateria, que energia. 👏👏👏
They came , they conquered , such a powerful performance
Thanks for the memories. It was PART TIME. I’m old now but love to PARTY ✌️
