I’ve been there. Tried following them afterwards but it wasn’t the same, they weren’t my boys anymore. But keep that jersey handy, there’s always hope ❤
@@DonPeppinoo But they're not our team anymore. They made the choice to leave. Why would we keep rooting for them to do well for a different city? As a lifetime Winnipeg Jets fan, I feel your pain. You were originally our franchise and when the team left it was heart breaking. I had hoped that the Coyotes would succeed.

As someone that went to a ton of Coyotes games, Avs games were some of the most fun. I remember the Detroit/Ducks/Avs/Sharks games in the 2010s back when we were all pretty decent and it was always a blast. Good luck in the playoffs, dude.
@@CamPNWI can imagine. But at the same time, I can't help but feel better for the team itself. They needed to be quite literally _extricated_from its bumbling owner, and I know that Bettman wants to add another team in Arizona under new leadership and without the bad reputation (not to mention credit rating). But if there's one thing for sure about all this, Bettman proved one thing: Hockey CAN girl in the desert. Seeing the fans come out to say goodbye is one big sign, but perhaps the biggest of all is Austin Matthews, one of the greatest players in recent history. And he's only here because of the Coyotes. @@jamessimpson4160 well to be fair, if this happened to a team in the north east, there would absolutely be riots in the streets, a lot of this goes along with the whole “does hockey belong in the desert” thing. Because as you say, if this were the Penguins, the Bruins, the Leafs, the city would be on fire as I type this. I think the NHL overall has done a great job to grow the game beyond the confines of Canada and the northeast US, Florida had a rough start with both of their teams, but the owners never gave up and invested into the teams, and now they have a large and dedicated fanbase. Phoenix never stood a chance, the owner never invested in the team and didn’t expose new fans to a good experience. With all the family that I have in CT, I probably would have become a Whalers fan. I was 10 when they left. Growing up in NY, I got to see the Rangers final game at the Civic Center in 97 on the Whalers telecast (happened to be in the area that weekend) with Forslund calling the game.
Was at the final game in Hartford. I was 12. I still have the final homestand program and a sealed team photo. I remember the energy in the building and nobody wanting to leave.

Thank you for mentioning the arena workers! They're low level compared to the players and management for example, but they're still important and as someone who is an Arena worker for the Abbotsford Canucks I couldn't imagine if my team were to just leave and relocate. Thankfully I'd still have a job as the venue is also used for concerts, but still, I can only imagine how much this sucks for all of them! At least the players still have a job (they just have to move, and I don't doubt they'll be compensated for the move by the team owners) but it sucks for all involved and the fans too, gonna suck going from having a team in your town, to not having one in their town
@@MsDesignDiva The one bright spot to that is Mullett Arena isn't going anywhere, they still have Arizona State college hockey there, maybe some other events, too. Our city was emotionally destroyed for an embarrassingly long time after we lost them. I remember as a 14 year old kid, contributing 100 dollars to the eventual 13mill we collectively raised in a few short days in a last ditch effort that effectively got us one final season (and prevented the team from going to Minnesota). Thanks for taking good care of them, and for bringing the NHL snipers like Matthews. The Coyotes will be missed.

From an Islanders fan, a team that is all too familiar with the uncertainty of where they're going to play the next season (The Nassau Coliseum debacle still stings as that arena now sits barely used), I say thank you Arizona for supporting the Coyotes. At the time, I thought that bringing a hockey team to a desert state was a risk, but it turned into one of the most passionate fan bases in all of sports. I really do feel for the die hard Coyote fans, I couldn't imagine going through that with my Wings.
They still exist luckly, they are just relocating, same players, same name, same logo, new home.

I'm an oilers fan. I cried watching this. Arizona, you guys have always had a great hockey club and awesome fans. Nothing can hit a hockey person in the feels more than watching a tribute like this to an amazing team leaving the ice. Thank you for the years of entertainment.
If any team had to deny the Oilers their 50th win of the year tonight I’m happy it was your team. My heart breaks for Arizona and its fans. I hope to see Arizona back in the NHL one day soon. Arizona is as passionate a fan base as I’ve ever seen.
Then why are they leaving.
@@David-ut1xjbecause our ownership suck and have made terrible decisions. Because Glendale screwed the team. Because of a massive disinfo campaign to tank the Tempe bid. Because our former GM cost us picks.
Choose any/all of these. The fans here are the ones getting royally screwed from this.
Moron.
Ehhh when they had an actual arena they really struggled with attendance, it is def sad for the fans who were passionate but Arizona really isn't a good hockey town if we're being honest
Fans so passionate that the team is leaving - ok
Born and raised in Arizona.. never had I cried so hard for any of the teams. I was born into this coyotes franchise and followed them my whole life.. this is absolutely rough. I feel like they ripped them away from me
Actually, on the other hand, you may not be without a hockey team forever. I think the NHL wants you guys to be the first team up for expansion if there ever is a 33rd team added.
Sorry bud. It never gets easier
Fans like you from your comment i feel sympathy for. I can't fathom losing my team. What do you do now? Do you guys follow them to utah or find a new team to love?
Flames fan here despite all the shots the hockey community take at Arizona it was people like you I thought about last night. We were on the brink here for a while back around 2000 and I don’t know what I’d do without them. We used to have a triple A baseball team in Calgary and I cried like a baby when they left. I’ve been there. Tried following them afterwards but it wasn’t the same, they weren’t my boys anymore. But keep that jersey handy, there’s always hope ❤
@@DonPeppinoo
But they're not our team anymore. They made the choice to leave. Why would we keep rooting for them to do well for a different city? I know it's not the players fault, there's still an inclination to root for the team because of them, but behind the players is the management that ought to be rooted against. Can't separate the two.
As a lifetime Winnipeg Jets fan, I feel your pain. You were originally our franchise and when the team left it was heart breaking. I had hoped that the Coyotes would succeed.
As a Kings fan, I always saw the Arizona Coyotes as worthy adversaries. The Kings faced them a couple of times during the playoffs and they were indeed a tough team and the fans were truly united everytime we had to face them at thier place in the playoffs. I'm happy to see they were able to win their last game and give the fans something special. RIP Arizona Coyotes
As an Avs fan, I am going to miss our cross corner state rivalry. I'm so happy you were able to get this last win.
As someone that went to a ton of Coyotes games, Avs games were some of the most fun. I remember the Detroit/Ducks/Avs/Sharks games in the 2010s back when we were all pretty decent and it was always a blast. Good luck in the playoffs, dude.
They are still going to be in a corner state though.
As Avs fans, this could turn into a heated rivalry that will be a blast to watch.
Goodbye coyotes as a kraken fan it's sad to see this team go

As a Seattle fan, we saw what the greed of owners did to the Sonics and understand and sympathize with you all in Arizona.
I'm really happy you got a new team in Seattle last! I really like the Kraken. I'm not too worried right now because it took 6 years for the Knights to win. It may take a bit longer, but I doubt it's going to be as long as some people think it is.

My feelings go out to every Yotes fan in AZ, i really hope the clause will be triggered and we get our team back!
@@jamessimpson4160 it sucks but something definitely had to give, year after year, empty promises, and eventually it starts coming down to the fact that the NHL has to maintain their brand, they are a professional league and the fact that the owner had this team playing in an arena like that was a disgrace to the league and his ownership.
I feel for the fans of the team because they cannot control the outcomes of these "suit and tie" problems. I think I speak for all NHL fans when I say, it never should have come to this.
@@KT22672 yeah absolutely i understand that. Just over here the idea a team/franchise can just up and move so seamlessly is insane.
I think if the owner actually put effort into the team, and got the arena deals, I think Phoenix would have taken to hockey like any other big city.
Lol, why are you a coyotes fan? You could be a fan of of any team in the league from England and you pick this one?

Coming from a Hurricanes fan, this reminds me so much of when the Whalers left Hartford in 1997. Alot of heartbreak and emotion among the fans who supported the team. Arizona deserves to have a NHL team.

I'm an Avs die hard, but my friend and brother in arms is a yotes fan. Arizona is the only opposing team NHL arena I've ever attended (not mullet) and I had an absolute blast even with my avs getting shut out that night. They either have to move to Utah or find another job that really sucks.
@@ryans413 yeah these poor people, I can imagine my La kings moving from LA cause I’d just cry nonstop
But definitely is one thing that's always overlooked is how this affects the people who work in the arena, since that's one less event for them to do. There still could be concerts or other things held there, but a team like this is guaranteed so many home games a year that you get to work.
You remember that 2012 semifinal Yotes vs Kings dude? That was wild. One of my favorite Coyotes memories was making it that far in the playoffs even if we ended up losing to you all.

This was surprisingly emotional. Feel bad for everyone there
Can't help but feel like this franchise has been cursed. As a Winnipegger, I feel your pain. Kinda wish we'd been given the same support and as many chances as the Yotes fans got but I understand it's a totally different world we're living in now.
