You are seeing it on Federal raids where one guy puts tape on the doorbell camera, or later when the cops are ripping down the security cameras because they don't like being watched as they do other illegal things.

This kind of armed violence against LE has been happening far too often lately. In my state 2 officers were gunned down investigating a domestic violence report. They did not approach the home with any protection or plan and they were ambushed. Seems the same here.

There was a 3 hour stand off to get the wife and kid out so they drove through the house to get them out.

I just did a search to find a clear report of what happened (timeline) and could not find one. Even the AP report seems purposefully vague and confusing.
The team serving the warrant got into a shootout with the target of the warrant who was then killed outside the house. Individual(s) in the house then fired on the team and an armored vehicle was run into the house after that.

*NONE of the officers or marshals at the scene say the gunfire came from anyone but the 39 year old suspect.*
The suspect was able to see the LE task force approaching before they could get set up with the armored vehicles.
If you look at the chopper footage of the incident, everyone is forced to take cover behind their regular cruisers, *when the suspect ambushed them from an upstairs window* giving him the initial advantage.

How does this happen? Tactics have to be reviewed. The approach to the home ? Were the officers vulnerable? This kind of violence against LE is happening far too often lately. Need to review and alter tactics when approaching a possible armed and dangerous individual.

'Let's let him go home and hole up so he has help from friends, multiple guns, and ammunition instead of picking him up on the street where he would likely only have one handgun and maybe two magazines worth of ammunition!' Law enforcement just wants to act out their Call of Duty role-play fantasies in real life. It's like they all have oatmeal for brains. Complete incompetence. That's what got four officers killed. There have been news stories for years about how the quality of police recruits has been going downhill. They don't get paid enough, they aren't adequately trained, and criteria for becoming a police officer have are being consistently lowered.

Charlotte is something else. Went there on vacation and locals telling where I shouldn't be going. Supposed to stay three nights only stayed two. Don't plan on visiting anytime soon.
Come to memphis. Every city you go got bad neighborhoods. I went to st Louis which is just as bad as memphis. Walked around the downtown for a couple of days had no issues.

Officers went to serve warrant. Police were shot at immediately. Then swat came after the initial shootout to get an upper hand in the shootout.
Also a woman and 17yr old continued to shoot even when the perp was down. They must be charged with 4 counts of murder ASAP.

Why does it take a "task force" to serve a warrant? From this description it sounds like they were expecting some kind of resistance. Why didn't they just wait until the guy went to the grocery store and do it away from the house instead of doing a D-Day invasion style approach? We see the horrible outcome from this macho approach.

I’ve also read that his family members were notified weeks in advance, that they were coming to serve his warrant, and failed to get a response. That’s a massive tactical mistake right there. You just alerted him to your approach, as well as giving him time to set up barricades, gather ammunition, and overall prepare.

It's pretty incredible that one lone gunman was able to kill four police officers and wound 8, or was it two gunmen?. It's unclear how many shooters there were (AP implies there were two but the report seems purposefully vague). The AP also did not make clear when the armored vehicle was used to tear the front of the house down - was it part of the initial attempt to serve the warrant? Did it happen after shooting started and then the three-hour stand off? I'd like to know why all of the reports I've found online are so unclear about the timeline of events. That so many officers were shot (12) and killed (4) suggests a problem (or more than one problem) in that police department.
The 2nd gunman theory comes from a bad initial report of the incident as it was developing. The only other people in the house were a 17 year old girl and a woman. *No officers or Marshalls at the scene reported taking fire from anyone but the 39 year old.
The gunman spotted them coming before they could set up, and ambushed them from an elevated window with a high powered rifle before they could position the armored cars.
You can see from the chopper footage that the officers are forced to take cover behind standard police cruisers that are non-armored.
This caused initial confusion as people were hit, and they were unable to identify where the shots were coming from. The report also said the officers attempted to return fire, but "it proved difficult due to their lower position"
The house being torn apart is after a lengthy standoff. The 39 year old then tried to escape the house and was taken down in the front lawn.
As for why so many were injured? All I can do is speculate.
These weren't SWAT officers, in many of these Southern counties and cities, they just have officers take "training course" (many often don't even have to do that) to try and be stop gaps for that role.
