    I really love your driving reviews. It's exactly I look for in a review - how the car drives in twistie and describing exactly how the car behaves and feels. Anyone can go into the dealership to test drive a car and do the normal straight-line acceleration and get the general feel for the car. They would never allow the buyer to take the test drive car into the mountains to do a review like you did. Car driving enthusiasts like myself would never know how exactly the car would behave in twisties unless we buy the car ourselves. So, thank you.

    Polestar was the performance wing of Volvo. They created some spectacular ICE machines, so they know what they are doing when I comes to handling. I was in one of these a couple of weeks ago, here in the UK. It was so damn impressive. Why would you want a Tesla for everyday life when you can have this quality?

      @philorgneopolotin8762 2 года назад +2

      Why would you want a tesla? Dude polestar is a great car but why do people always make these absolute statements like polestar is better in every way? I don’t even love tesla but here’s just a few advantages the model 3 has off the top of my head:
      Better performance, faster acceleration, longer range (by a lot), faster charging, lower price, way better tech, better handling and much more generous base car. The model 3 comes standard with heated steering wheel + rear heated seats, a heat pump, adaptive cruise control, blind spot camera, sunroof, premium sound system just to name a few. All of these are multi-thousand dollar optional packages on the polestar.
      Idk what it is about people making EVs such an “us vs. them” mentality. Both cars can be great. Both cars can have some advantages over the other. But if I could get a quicker, faster, more powerful, longer range, faster charging, better handling car for cheaper? Yeah I think I know which one I’m going for.

  • @777Outrigger
    @777Outrigger 3 года назад +4

    Kris Rifa had the Polestar 2 charge from 10 to 80% in 38 minutes, and his most recent Model 3 charged from 10 to 80 in 35 minutes. But the P2 charging curve really crashes above 80%, and is really bad above 90%. Maybe Polestar can eventually be persuaded to improve that via OTA updates

    Love the PS2 - however.. my biggest gripe with it is the cramped feeling in drivers position. Beside the clumsily fenced middle console - there is no space to rest your foot rightside of the gas pedal - something I haven’t heard any reviewer mention so far. I asked Polestar/Volvo about this, and get this, they are marketing this annoyance as a ”safety feature” so your foot is always ready to step on the gas.. 🙄

The lease price I paid for mine is comparable to about a $40-43,000 car even though the sticker price on my Polestar 2 is over $60,000. I would also add that I wouldn't buy a used EV, all current EV's suffer from battery degradation. I always get the impression that Kyle falls in love with each new EV he drives. With the dizzying array of new cars you drive every week, I can see how that may happen. Each car, no matter the pricepoint, does have it's strengths and weaknesses. In this business, you need to step lightly if you expect a plane ticket comp, or access to a new model for more review content.
    Whenever a new EV hits the market, LITERALLY NOBODY on RUclips discusses the dealership malaise or the fact that Geely/Volvo, Ford, Hyundai/KIA or even VW are eking out tiny numbers of EVs in proportion to the millions of gas-gulping, ignite-and-burn, 19th century-tech air polluters in their lineups. Just once, I'd like one of the RUclips auto critics to say, "Ford sent 30,000 Mach-es to Norway to comply with Euro green mandates and N.America gets 20,000 units this year". Perhaps one RUclips auto guy (or gal) will explain that press releases and promises do not equate to actually building lots of Mach-es, Polestars, Hummer EVs or Bolts.
    Kyle is truly bored of Tesla, and new content is the name of the EV game. I get that, but time and again, we hear mention of comparisons between a mid-level, $53,000 Model Y to a $153,000 Porsche or nags on Tesla's touchscreen by folks who haven't a clue how amazingly well those voice controls work, compared to anything German, Chinese, Swedish, S.Korean or Japanese. One guy kept repeating, "I can't say Mercedes during this interview because of...you know what" (Hey Mercedes Voice Assistant)! LOL. I wish someone ...JUST ONE RUclipsR...Could stop effusing praise of the EQS or Porsche Taycan long enough to be real about fingerprints, complexity and the sheer stupidity of 3,4,5 screens splashed all over a dashboard. Gooey fingerprints and glass DO NOT exude lyxury!!!
    In all, one in media runs swiftly from they that state big, huge OBVIOUS truths: Tesla is SMARTER than all the legacy automakers. We are pigeonholed as, "fanboys" for stating the obvious. Sandy Munro sat in a panel on Autoline Detroit 3 years ago claiming Tesla did not know how to build cars. Never paid a penny by Tesla, he now strongly states all these Polestars and Mercedes are 5-9 years behind the American barrier-buster.
    When we look at just ONE company not promising to build a million EVs, BUT ACTUALLY DOING IT....Or a charging infrastructure any layman can find and use easier than finding a good roast beef sandwich? The truth is plain to see.
    In the future, we'll see more useful information that better assists a consumer. As in Motor Trend-style side-by-side shootouts between models that actually are in the same category and/or price range.
    EVs offer so many advantages to consumers over gassers. Refueling has been and is set to be the number one challenge to ease the transition to cleaner, better cars and trucks. We watched Marques Brownlee's team drive 600 miles in 3 different vehicles to drive home a VERY critical point. In a loop to Niagra falls driving a gas Audi, a Mustang Mach-e and a Tesla - the GIGANTIC WART of all CCS DC fast charge-enabled EVs was laid bare. The Audi completed the journey without a hitch, naturally refueling quickly at plentiful gas stations. 28 minutes later, the Tesla arrived home in 2nd place. The Mach-e directed it's crew to chargers that would not communicate with the car, sending them willy nilly off the path miles out of their way, finally finding 4 Electrify America chargers in a parking lot where 2 were out of order! The Ford showed up last, hours later.
    Ford responded next day with an announcement to hire "Charge Angels" you can call to come bail you out! Hey LEGACY AUTO, build out a reliable,simple, plentiful fast charging infrastructure and more than 50-80,000 Ford Lightnings each calender year and I may start to buy into some of the Kool-Aid.

    Very tempting car. Looks like it could actually do a track day (but i can't stand understeer).
    No regen trigger behind the steering wheel? I love that feature.
    Started my EV journey on an '11 LEAF w/ degraded battery so really learned hypermiling and how important it is to avoid unintended regen. Love that this car has the ability to have a glide mode where throttle off really means off. Having the mechanical brake use indicator makes this even better.
    Good review and darned tempting car, but waiting for my Lucid.
    You going to the Lucid tour/drive thing in AZ later this month?

    I wish the suspension was electronically adjustable and more comfortable/soft for inner city driving. Also the center console seems like a wasted space to me.
    Other than that, I love driving this thing. Still puts a smile on my face whenever I get into it as well as driving it. Very cool looking too. Glad I went for it rather than the Tesla model 3 or an EV SUV.

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
    from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
    Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
    on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas
    station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel
    pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in
    the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems,
    turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and
    New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be
    done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of
    crime here, called emissions and smoke crime....

  • @JonathanEzor
    @JonathanEzor 3 года назад +2

    Kyle,
    Thanks for this! I considered the Polestar 2 before deciding to get (next year) the Mach-E; one determining factor was the decision by Polestar to *not* let local Volvo dealers handle service, the way they do in Europe and the UK. Even though I live on Long Island, close-ish to the Manhattan Polestar service center, the idea of arranging pickup and drop-off with the attendant delays for any little service issue was a non-starter for me.
    Hoping you'll get to review the Mustang Mach-E GT some time this month--I'm planning on ordering a GT (non-Performance Edition) for delivery next spring/summer!
