Brilliant review as always! Just ordered mine with Performance in Moon with Barley leather. Never seen any actual photos in that colour so hoping it's nice.. should be a gorgeous combination. If they had the vegan interior in lighter colour and trim I would have gone for that.
Great Review as always - many thanks Thomas for all the interesting details. Great work Autogefuhl Team. Best wishes.
This might be my favorite car of the moment, not just EV, but all cars. Only because its more practical than the Taycan though 😏 Interested to see what the more base models will be like in the future. 2WD is sufficient. The öhlins dampers are cool, but doesnt make much sense i'd say. Get the 19" wheels and standard dampers.
@@XLoaferY Most normal people don't need all wheel drive. People in corollas have been using the car just fine for a long time and most of the time you are not going to floor the pedal like an idiot. Thomas, I love the review, and I am waiting for my 2022 Polestar 2 to be delivered in about 12 days. I have to say you are very easy on the eye, which makes the review even nicer!
Dear Thomas, What a Super review Thomas! My compliments! I always love watching your video's. A lot of attention to detail and also some HUMOR here and there. I am loving it! Please keep up the good work!! Yours sincerely, Vincent Pothuizen from The Netherlands (Eindhoven).
Excellent review and if i was just doing local trips I would be ordering one of these. For most people the range is sufficient and they would be charging at home almost every time. My job still requires about 25,000 miles a year so the ease of the Tesla charger network and the extra range available pushes me towards a model 3. Having done some sample route planning, the Model 3 always has a shorter journey time, either because it doesn't need to charge or because the supercharger is faster. Hopefully we will soon have a vehicle that has the battery and connected tech of the Tesla, combined with the high quality interior design and build of the top European brands. Thank you for providing sensible reviews, not full of shouting, crazy graphics, annoying music, and irrelevant comments. I don't always agree with your conclusions but I understand why you've made them. Keep up the good work!
This is a beautifully crafted car. It looks and feels of quality (minus the plastic keyfob), and has all the right ingredients and very practical liftback design. I'm also a an avid user of Android Auto, so the infotainment is also perfect.
The floor carpet fixing points is part of the Volvo heritage from its era as a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. I have exactly the same solution for fixing the driver's floor mat in my humble Mondeo.
Great reviews Thomas, thank you. Based on your reviews, having never sat in one of driven one I've just ordered one for my next company car. Here's hoping that it lives up to expectations.
You asked for our opinion. Here it goes: this review is very interesting, very well filmed, your views on a number of subjects show how thorough you are, but I am not a vegan and I do not want to become one. The only thing I would change is to order a good leather interior in such great car. Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: ruclips.net/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/видео.html In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which exact body part you would be murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And if you want the slick look or something to wipe clean easier, that is possible with animal free leatherette. Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@@autogefuehl I do believe it is possible to source it responsibly. I have been in the Oil Industry for 35 years and we had the same problem, people were very against what we were doing and did not care to distingish between correctly designed refineries, correctly sourced crude oil etc. etc. and I strongly believe the same applies to the leather industry. I was your follower, I am not anymore as you continue religiously with that crusade against leather which is very unfortunate, as you are otherwise an excellent reviewer. You could have another site where you did your evangelisation and keep to your review as other reviewers do. Regards.
Speaking up for those who cannot defend themselves is no religion but compassion. I always wonder why people criticize others for caring for animals. Really sad.
Excellent review, as always, Thomas! For me it comes down to a choice between the Long Range AWD (not Performance) Tesla Model 3 and the Polestar 2. Both have almost identical power and acceleration and Tesla has a bit more range. The Polestar costs a bit more, but I believe that is money well spent for the vastly superior build quality, the more complete and luxury interior, versatility of the power lift back and possibly of a better overall ownership experience. One major difference is the charging network availability where you live. Tesla definitely has the upper hand there, but I have to consider how often I would be charging on long trips verses charging at home.
It's not "UV" protection. It is infrared protection that would help to keep the interior cooler. UV is a different part of the electromagnetic spectrum that doesn't involve heat.
About that tunnel in the floor; I watched the Car Pervert review this morning and Jonny Smith said it was there because the batteries were placed there as well as under the back seat in a T configuration, the idea being to allow a lower interior floor for the front occupants.
It's that configuration because it is based on the xc40 platform. They can make up as much whimsical reasons as they like to fluff it up, but all manufacturers have gone with the skateboard style for a reason. This is just making do with the space it's got, it is a lovely car though.
The “transmission tunnel” is there to provide a deeper foot well and more legroom for the real passengers. In other EV’s with all the batteries under the floor, the foot well higher. This in turn forces you sit with your knees higher providing a more uncomfortable seating position. So the transmission tunnel is there to provide better rear passenger comfort.
cracking review and so thorough. You are shifting me towards this car as I have a Model 3 reservation and it may boil down to whether over the air updates , interior space and supercharger network is enough to keep with the Tesla. Decisions, decisions decisions.
I talked to the guys at the polestar showroom in stockholm yesterday. OTA updates will be available for polestar cars produced 2021 and forward. If you are able to, go to a showroom and talk to the polestar team, they do have a lot of interesting opinions and information regarding the future of these. I would even dare to say that this (already superb) car is about 80% done at the moment. Purchase this car in 1-1,5 years and you will have an even more amazing experience with it!
Zerloot I will be purchasing April /May 2021 so maybe things will be different. There are no polestar showrooms here in the UAE where I am currently working as I’d really like to see it in the flesh.
@@molepatrol7529 i think it will be a good time to buy! I promise you, its absolutely gorgeus in the flesh! My personal favourite is the "Thunder" color.
I don't think having a range over 300 miles is necessary except in high-end GT cars meant for eating up highway miles, who commutes 250 miles each day to work? If they can up the power and keep the price competitive with the Model 3 Performance then this becomes a VERY serious competitor for those that want a more unique, attractive, and quality EV.
If you factor in the better quality, the Polestar 2 is better than a Tesla. Also looks much better and is more practical too because it's a hatchback (but looks like a sedan).
I think Google services are fantastic but I don’t agree with their privacy policy. So I would prefer say Tesla’s offering. I would actually not want to buy polestar just because of Google. Shame...
@5putput this is why VW is heavily investing in this to develop an own platform and they learn that this is huge project. This should help to avoid Google everywhere. Smaller OEMs like Polestar can not afford this effort...this is why about 5 other OEMs signed contract with Google for future cars...read this in press. In the past Blackberry and the Sytem QNX was the market lead in Car industry...gone...no one is too big to fail.
In Switzerland, the price starts at 57'900CHF. Black is the default color. Other colors will cost you 1000. The performance pack seems useless, especially for the price (6000CHF). It is only related to brakes and dumpers. So, the is not really faster. First deliveries expected at the end of 2020. You need to deposit 1000CHF for reservation. Price is in the range with the competition and seems fair (compared to the market). The performance is good. I suppose we all would like a bit more range (because that is never enough :-) ) And compared to BMW's laughable yesterday's iX3 presentation, with RWD SUV with 286ps, about 500km range but with the price that starts at 77'000CHF!(and you will need to check some options) is much better (even though not the same class).
Great review for a great car. Really excited to see the new integrated Google integration system, looks so slick, snappy and intuitive. Awesome job there! Definitely a car to consider whenever I decide to jump to EV. There is more world out of Tesla 😀
In Finland there has been this vocal group (of electric car denialists) who have been saying that why should you buy an electric car because you can't even tow things... Now there is an answer!! 👌 Let's see what they come up next
They stil try to avoid to sell all this valuable data to Google or Amazon...instead they for sure want to have control over this important data themselves. Other, smaller OEMs, like Polestar can not afford this huge effort to rebuild this kind of software infrastructure and sell all this data to a big company like Google
@@andrewthaboss6643 Exactly! nobody is selling data to anybody. Under EU privacy laws the consumer would have to be told. This company isn't a small company either its the company that bought Volvo.
I really have no connection to exhaust and engine noise. That this car accelerates with almost zero engine noise is a plus to me. I overall love the interior look but car could use more rear headroom, better rear visibility and I prefer a steel roof. Nice, nice auto. Maybe Polestar could refine the steering a bit more but it's very nice.
I would prefer this over the Model 3, just because the design matches my taste., but you need a similar budget. 27:15 Doesn't have Mazda a similar turning signal sound nowadys?
brilliant & detailed review as usual, fascinated by the full Android featured infotainment system, i think this is going to be the way forward for a few other vendors. just a shame the cost is starts at £46.9k just now.
I love your reviews. Very thorough and a pleasure to watch and listen to. My only reason to pick a Tesla right now (in the USA) is the Tesla Supercharger system. The other charging systems are more spotty and frequently the parking spaces are used by other (ICE) cars not charging. If all charging systems were equal (mainly for road trips) I would certainly consider the Polestar 2. I love the Volvo fit and finish. I have an older Model S and this car is comparatively very attractive.
Thanks Thomas & team for detailed review as always! I wondered if the aggressive deceleration using the one pedal driving feature could lead to rear-ending events (presumably brake lights aren’t activated when it slows)?
Tesla is nice but this, this is something else entirely. It's a mature car of quality. Also, German car reviews are so much better than British ones. And the units/steering wheel are right to!
Please bleep out the "OK Googles" in future videos :P Now my living room is 20 degrees (which is nice) and I have music playing in the background. Fortunately my house can't drive to Berlin yet. Solid review, though.
My car still have many years in it before it needs to be replaced, so I won't need to decide which new car to get just yet, but I'm excited that when the time comes I will be able to get something that is at least as good as this one at a reasonable price. Maybe by then full automatic driving will be the standard.
I wish you could use your own Activation word in the car Like "Please" or "Polestar" change the temperature instead of "Hey Google", which cheapens the experience in the car and doesn't keep it on brand.

I like the fact You always dress appropriately to the car. Every detail matters.
appreciated !
Brilliant review as always! Just ordered mine with Performance in Moon with Barley leather. Never seen any actual photos in that colour so hoping it's nice.. should be a gorgeous combination. If they had the vegan interior in lighter colour and trim I would have gone for that.
Probably the best and most thorough English-speaking test of the Polestar 2. Good job. I wish someone could test the non-performance version too....
Thanks a lot!
2 weeks ago these cars just arrived in the port of Netherlands and now Thomas already tested it.

Great Review as always - many thanks Thomas for all the interesting details. Yes, it's great that you don't have to spec expensive extras like an Audi or Merc - the UK configurator confirms that everything is included (ACC, BLIS etc), though not sure about a HUD! Great work Autogefuhl Team. Best wishes.
This might be my favorite car of the moment, not just EV, but all cars. Only because its more practical than the Taycan though 😏
Interested to see what the more base models will be like in the future. 2WD is sufficient.
The öhlins dampers are cool, but doesnt make much sense i'd say. Get the 19" wheels and standard dampers.
You do not want all that torque and 2wd. At least for me that's a non-starter.
@@XLoaferY Most normal people don't need all wheel drive. People in corollas have been using the car just fine for a long time and most of the time you are not going to floor the pedal like an idiot. Even most tesla drivers I have seen don't floor the pedal and driver normally for comfort. it is about usage
@@XLoaferY Surely it would be halved anyway.... It wouldn't be twin motor?
The best review of PS2 so far I have seen in RUclips. Keep it up..
thanks, feel free to recommend! :)
Thomas, I love the review, and I am waiting for my 2022 Polestar 2 to be delivered in about 12 days. I have to say you are very easy on the eye, which makes the review even nicer!
thanks! You ll enjoy :)
The design and infotainment system are absolutely superb
Dear Thomas,
What a Super review Thomas!
My compliments!
I always love watching your video's.
A lot of attention to detail and also some HUMOR here and there.
I am loving it!
Please keep up the good work!!
Yours sincerely, Vincent Pothuizen from The Netherlands (Eindhoven).
dankjewel! And of course we'll keep up the work. Did you see our latest subscriber update video? There we've an additional service to our vierwes :-)
Signed for this one yesterday, so happy!
The indicator sound gave me a shock, it's so satisfying to hear and I love it so much!!
This is a beautifully crafted car. It looks and feels of quality (minus the plastic keyfob), and has all the right ingredients and very practical liftback design. I'm also a an avid user of Android Auto, so the infotainment is also perfect.
This has so much more class than anything that Tesla produces. The 2 is probably the most desirable and (relatively) affordable electric car so far.
Oh cool! Enjoy 😊
Frame less side mirror stole the door closing sound
Love the new Google infotainment system, absolutely brilliant!
Dangerous system with surveillance from god knows who listen in. Not a place for private conversations!
@@swedishmotorshow As opposed to the US, the EU has strict privacy laws.
I think mall Volvos are moving to this system unless plans have changed.
As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: ruclips.net/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/видео.html
In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter.
Really sad.
Looks cool! Something different...🤷🏻♂️
Great car & great review Thomas!
thanks !!
I thought it was for the back occupants.
It's that configuration because it is based on the xc40 platform. They can make up as much whimsical reasons as they like to fluff it up, but all manufacturers have gone with the skateboard style for a reason. This is just making do with the space it's got, it is a lovely car though.
It also is safer too - the T-shape battery is protected by the body of the car and more difficult to damage in an accident if you're hit on the side.
I can see these being as popular if not more than Tesla Model 3
Just the interior alone is worth it to pick this over a Model 3. It's so much nicer.
Not available in Ireland as usual, I’ve ordered the model 3 but I would buy this over the Tesla.
Volvo has fixed all the issues i had with their cars with this one, shitty transmission and convoluted user interface. Looks like a winner.
Jan well it’s not made by a Volvo team, polestar team just used their chassis esthetic to start since theyve worked with Volvo cars before.
@@TK-gd9td its still 90% volvo!
@@TitanSKiZlz yes but not only that are part of Volvo the performance brand, bit like Audi being the performance brand of VW !
10:47 Thanks for the HIMYM reference, made me chuckle
Your reviews always reveals some details other missed. Good reviews.
cracking review and so thorough.
1:50 They don't scream: "HEY, I'm an electric vehicle" 😄
Google car infotainment system should replace all those systems car producers offer. they dont stand a chance.
@5putput I agree 100%.
I think Google services are fantastic but I don’t agree with their privacy policy. So I would prefer say Tesla’s offering. I would actually not want to buy polestar just because of Google. Shame...
Having google run infotainment system is a terrible idea.
TheRealNaxos yeah, Tesla’s using all your data too.
I suppose we all would like a bit more range (because that is never enough :-) )
And compared to BMW's laughable yesterday's iX3 presentation, with RWD SUV with 286ps, about 500km range but with the price that starts at 77'000CHF!(and you will need to check some options) is much better (even though not the same class).
What’s really interesting is logo on the exterior. It matches the color of the car
Yeah, an we couldn't see from distance which is sucks.😕
My Google Home was freaking out this whole video 😂

Great review for a great car. Really excited to see the new integrated Google integration system, looks so slick, snappy and intuitive. Awesome job there! Definitely a car to consider whenever I decide to jump to EV. There is more world out of Tesla 😀
👍
In Finland there has been this vocal group (of electric car denialists) who have been saying that why should you buy an electric car because you can't even tow things... Now there is an answer!! 👌 Let's see what they come up next
Amazing car and great review, Thank you!
16:50 - you were tempted to say it was Above and Beyond?
Really thorough to the point review.
The voice activation and response is so quick, Volkswagen should have gone with this rather than Amazon Alexa🤟
They stil try to avoid to sell all this valuable data to Google or Amazon...instead they for sure want to have control over this important data themselves. Other, smaller OEMs, like Polestar can not afford this huge effort to rebuild this kind of software infrastructure and sell all this data to a big company like Google
@@josefv-y8m Well said
@@josefv-y8m I'm not sure I follow. Using your logic isn't Volkswagen selling their data to Amazon...by using Amazon Alexa lolol
@@andrewthaboss6643 Exactly! nobody is selling data to anybody. Under EU privacy laws the consumer would have to be told. This company isn't a small company either its the company that bought Volvo.
Very informative, well presented , excellent vehicle ...
Can’t wait for a Polestar store to open locally to me so I can go test drive one!
HAHA Thomas, you showed a pic of your cat so that you can add "cat" as a search word for this video...clever Thomas, very clever 😄
LOL =)
Fantastic Voice systems Thomas ,
I really have no connection to exhaust and engine noise. That this car accelerates with almost zero engine noise is a plus to me. I overall love the interior look but car could use more rear headroom, better rear visibility and I prefer a steel roof. Nice, nice auto. Maybe Polestar could refine the steering a bit more but it's very nice.
Great! so now the 11 months wait for my next lease car will seem like eternity. I guess you're just doing your job. But do you need to do it so well?

I would prefer this over the Model 3, just because the design matches my taste., but you need a similar budget. 27:15 Doesn't have Mazda a similar turning signal sound nowadys?
I own a Mazda, yes it sounds almost the same. LIke to coconuts hitting into each other
Pretty good first go I would say from Polestar. I will definitely consider buying their products if they keep this going.
The most beautiful and elegant electric car so far.
Great review as always and a beautiful car!
Awesome review as usual Thomas!
One suggestion, can you mute the "Hey Google part" , it's triggering a lot of Google devices 😶
brilliant & detailed review as usual, fascinated by the full Android featured infotainment system, i think this is going to be the way forward for a few other vendors. just a shame the cost is starts at £46.9k just now.
I have seen one on Tjörn (Sweden) Two days ago ;) looks good
I love your reviews.
👌
Thanks Thomas & team for detailed review as always! I wondered if the aggressive deceleration using the one pedal driving feature could lead to rear-ending events (presumably brake lights aren’t activated when it slows)?
They are activated at a certain NM threshold- fixed by law

You should beep out the "hey google"'s from the audio. My google home just set the temperature of my living room thanks to you
wow, 17 kwh/100 is great for such a heavy car. Now waiting for test result for the BMW ix3...
Hahaha 😛 yes we did do that in other reviews
The only EV that caught my attention. Unfortunately, seems that it will be available in Italy later on...and on...and on...and on...
Same, waiting for it in Austria :(
Very nice review.
"General Overview." 👮
