I was doing some research for a middle school lesson on stereotyping when I came across this video. Zamina, your talk was more inspirational than you know. I shall be sharing it a lot.
Oh my gosh. Sis Zamina! You killed it!! I can't believe what a performance that was and with such a critical message. I couldn't be there but im standing for you now!
Incredible! I stumbled upon this video and found a Hijabi Muslim sister delivering amazing thought revoking as well as mindset changing speech! Zazakallah
So beautiful and heart filled with kindness . We need more people like you to remind people who are born to judge. Thank you, bless you. All your dreams come true.
Amazing presentation. I am starting to believe the root cause of all these stereotyping and having opinions on other people and subjects starts from the fact that we are trying to have "an answer" for what we don't know instead of asking questions. We should start promoting a "bad question" more than a "good answer".
Beta Zamina.... May Allah swt continue to guide you throughout your life. You delivered a powerful message in very eloquently with a good sprinkling of humor and a good helping of personal experiences. I AM PROUD OF YOU BETA and PROUD TO BE a Muslim and promise you to mend my ways when it comes to the temptation of judging a book by its cover. God bless you Maa!
Truly amazing talk by zamina. she, a Muslim, is talking before people spreading smiles. So making the negative thoughts about Muslims vanished! APPRECIATIONS
Then ask her why not even one Islamic majority nation is secular? How come every muslim-majority nation has to have Islam everywhere? Sharia laws, blasphemy laws abuse minorities. Except for Islamic nations do you see any other religion insisting on becoming theocracies? But they come to the west or other countries face discrimination and suddenly are sooooo enlightened
This is a message that is really often overlooked because it is mentioned often. Thank you Zamina for really demonstrating the slippery slope that is our judgement, with an awesome combination of wit, eloquence, and importance. Frankly, we all do this, and can definitely change the world through a little more kindness.
What an engaging speaker Zamina Mathini is! I wish the human brain could evolve past the inital judgement response and say "Oh wait! That's old programming! To "Unknown doesn't mean bad. They could be your new friend/colleague/classmate/partner" whatever the case may be. It is too easy to judge people purely on how they look. I am guilty of it myself. Yet some of the most unexpected kindness I've been shown was from people who were from other countries working and living in Ireland and who didn't look like me! It's like they could see with their hearts eyes! It's truly a magical gift to receive kindness from someone who is from a different culture from you and when the world seems like a tough place or you're having a bad day! The thing is, most of these people know what it's like to be different and i think that's what gives them so much compassion. That's why i grieve when i hear people rejecting immigrants or refugees. Most people don't voluntarily leave their homelands unless it's for a very good reason like escaping wars or inhumane treatments or conditions! Please cut these people some slack! Any one of us could find ourselves in a terrible situation like that and have to flee our countries with only the clothes we're wearing and leaving everyhing and everyone we knew! There but for the Grace of God go I/ all of us. Thank you Ted x. Thank you Zamina Mathini for your humour and generosity of spirit. Angel blessings from Precious Sweetheart 🙏🙂❤
This talk resonated with both myself and my young son - a great talk, that is cleverly crafted to bring out a true message that makes us STOP and think about how we individually judge others. It can make all the difference in the world, if we stop and change this.
Zamina, you are so eloquent, so funny and your talk made me think about all the ways we judge each other with out always even realizing it. Thank you for your message!
wow! that really blow me away, as i am typing i cant help but cry and ask my self, why people are easy to judge when they dont really know us personally. ive been there and its really hurting.
Yes, prejudge all people before you even meet them....do it in a unkind idea...or ask them in a kind way what their name is introduce yourself ask them what you want in a kind way.. this is an intelligent way.....
Thank you for educating us, Zamina. Ever since I came to know there was a muslim religion, I was led to believe that all muslims were like the strict, abusive men of Saudi Arabia.
Bravo! What a thought provoking, topical and powerful talk! Zamina is wise beyond her years. I hope her talk receives the widest publicity so that her uplifting message can change old mindsets.
Great talk. You are adorable, well spoken, inspirational, funny... not at all what I expected. KIDDING! That was a joke about judgements. True, you never know who is in front of you or what you can learn. Thank You for sharing.
Zamina! Your talk is so fantastic. You are a walking billboard for funny, inspirational badass Muslim woman AND you break down barriers wherever you go. Thank you for educating me on my own biases.
I request all our brother and sisters to pray for Our father has passed away, may Allah Almighty forgive him, and may all Muslim brothers whose parents or one or both of them passed away, may Allah Almighty forgive them all and grant them a high position in Paradise.
I have an experience like her grandma but in my case I decided trust in the guy who was standing in the sidewalk and then he mugged me on the corner jajajaja but that didn´t change much my desire to give people a chance. :)
It's a great speech. but when you put on a "Jesus loves you" t-shirt, or a MAGA hat, or a hijab, you are already sending a message. I wouldn't want to talk with the first two kinds of people, and I would assume that the third kind is not very interested to talk with me (a white man and atheist). Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the right to wear whatever you want, but when you do, you are making a very strong and clear statement. In most of the world, the hijab is the sign that a woman lives according to a more traditional role model, and this comes often with the rejection of Western values and ideas. I can't really understand this choice (if it is one), but I try to respect it by keeping my distance.
miss zamina the problem with people around the world is judging people based on custom, skin color or religion e.g. christian or muslim we are all guilty for that
Am so impressed, she used humour to pass her message across. This is so true of most of us. Judging people is what most of us do half of the time.

It's because Islam is perfect but Muslims aren't.
