Okay, CONGRATS ON THE PONY!!!! You asked for comments. Love the Mustang as is. Fix her up keep her original. These cars are always modded. You almost can't find an unmodified 1st gen Mustang. I have a 67 Cougar, I did buy it to restomod. It is a entry level car. While a 289, AT Mustang was not rare, today they are pretty rare from what I see. Build the Cougar to be a street sleeper, keep the Mustang original. Just my .02.
Keep it original, modify the cougar. Maybe add some 14 inch cragars 5 spoke if you want to updated it. keep it in the same time period correct. 289 is a good motor.
I think that due to the level of some of the repairs that need to be done, it is completely acceptable to modify it to a point that would elevate your excitement about the car. The original engine and trans can always be reinstalled.

Thats really what I was thinking.
Nice score! Stick to the plan - drop the 300hp engine in the Cougar and keep the Mustang original, its great the way it is.
We shall see
Does it do wheelies?
Yes, over speed bumps
