Honestly, this game is legendary to me for one reason: Agent. Agent is probably one of the weirdest, most random topics in my scope of gaming trivia, and every time I tell someone that doesn't know RE6 about him, they're usually left completely baffled. Agent exists as nothing more than an intangible ghost that wields tangible bullets, and he straight up teleports to get around the fact that the devs either purposefully or accidentally disabled most of his interactive triggers. He is by far the most mysterious character in the franchise, and we will likely never get a follow-up as to why Ada travelled with a ghost.

    • @Kosimo
      @Kosimo 2 года назад +45

There's just agents placed all over the area and Ada just leaves them behind

The Jake, played through the entire Jake/Sherry campaign with me, and he ONLY USED HIS FIST. It was fucking beautiful watching this guy make a beeline to every enemy and square up with them, even the goddamn Ustanak. The funniest few hours I ever experienced with a game.

An invasion mode where you invade other people's campaigns. A horde PvP mode. A deathmatch mode where you respawn as a zombie if you die, probably the basis of RE: Verse. A 1v5 mode, that was like DBD if your goal was to kill the boss. This game was pretty forward thinking with multiplayer as some of those could have been a standalone ongoing game.

The stuff in the lab was awful while trying to figure out room to room progression over voice coms without any idea what the other person was looking at. After that the burn out quickly soured our opinion of the last couple levels. As for Ada's campaign... that was not designed for multiplayer and they shouldn't have bother to give it multiplayer. We got less then an hour in and said "Fuck this we are done here"
I really liked the first couple of stories and honestly I think the game could have done without Jake's campaign and been better for it.

Also need to say - A lot of people complained about the greater focus on combat in this one, especially in the Chris Campaign. The game takes place more than a decade and a half since the first Umbrella incident and the change in gameplay style can be seen as an indication of (mostly) everyone's veteran status with dealing with freaky bio-weapons. It's no longer terrifying to them, it's their job to be able to kill these things. Similarly, Leon's campaign is more reminiscent of the earlier survival horror titles because in comparison to Chris, who at this point has been a member of a dedicated anti-B.O.W. organization, he's relatively lacking in experience; while he is capable of fighting these monsters, Leon has spent more time as an agent of the US government and bodyguarding the president more than battling B.O.W.s, and the same can be said for Helena. Also note that he lacks the heavier firepower (at least initially) of the B.S.A.A. Jake's campaign is a compromise, with hints of the Nemesis/Mr. X confrontations from previous games. Both Jake and Sherry are physically more capable than ordinary humans thanks to their genes, and thus can go toe to toe with B.O.W.s easily, but as with Leon and Helena, they are ill-equipped compared to Chris and Piers.

@@jaioncebollero1168 Not really head canon because the games show Chris dealing with years of outbreaks, along with Leon, granted less then Chris but still. It's more a story/character thing, but sure head canon, I guess. 🤷
Also explains why Capcom went with a completely new protagonist for 7 - Ethan has *no* experience with the typical RE shit, so it adds to the horror because you aren't someone who has gone through 20 different end of the world scenarios. Just a guy looking for his missing wife.

Its the asymmetry that really gets me going, like you're on this covert co-op adventure where one moment you're escaping an exploding boat, then you're running away from a tank, and then in another campaign you're friend gets the ability to shoot lightning! Its just NEVER slows down, so it was practically perfect for my dumb-baby brain. Only big problem with it was really just Ada's campaign (notably played in co-op) and Chris' being a bit slot.

I absolutely, wholeheartedly, unabashedly love this game precisely for how over the top it is. I can understand why it's polarising and why it's not for everybody. It's got gallons of nacho cheesiness.
But I'm an American and I love cheese. God, playing this game with friends was fun as hell, but even alone I find something to laugh at. On the subject of multiplayer, it is amazing when you have someone who shares your type of humour who also loves to riff things.
    "So, where to now?"
Me, aiming at propane tanks beneath our feet, "The hospital."
    "NO-" *bang*
This was the first game to make me aware of Troy Baker and Laura Bailey, voice actors who I've come to enjoy in a number of roles. I'd heard them before, like Laura as Trunks for example, but it was here I would pick up on their voice and try and find them in everything else.
I guess, yeah, it was when it came out and most of my friends were as into it as I was that my enjoyment is more out of nostalgia. But I'll at least play Leon's campaign myself every now and then and still enjoy it.

    - Leon
    - Jake
    - Ada
Reason being that Leon in Resi6 is super annoying and it has my favorite version of Chris (it would be Resi 8 if he wasn't the reason for the story to be so contrived), plus I really like Piers.
And honestly, sometimes I prefer Jake over Leon's campaign, but then I remember the lab level.
Leon has the most resi campaign, but I can't stand him. The only reason I tolerate the campaign itself is because I really like Helena.
But by far the worst character in the game is Ada. She is even more annoying than Leon, I can't stand anything she says.

do think it looks nice in presentation and while outside the qte's is mechanically well(especially in mercenaries mode.) it's definitely along with code veronica/zero the worst of the main games being when the series went too far with the action that it got old quickly with leon's bad luck, nowhere near as charming/annoying partner and unnecessary amount of deaths, chris being a generic shooter(while i wish jill was with chris i enjoyed piers though and considering we had rachel wouldn't mind seeing him come back with his mutation abilities with his sanity intact sorta like "spoiler"ethan"spoiler".)and jake being as unfocused as the game itself(would say sonic adventure was more coherent even with big as jake just felt like re's version of donte with how fanfiction his origin felt/unbelievable wesker having a kid is when they had that option for it or a successor to umbrella with excella and tricell.).
making the story feel aimless thanks to 4 and 5 ending umbrella and it's closest connection off prematurely(actually remember a 4d film that had a scientist take over a squad through the virus possessing them to keep her experiments hidden from umbrella and with how it ends with her escaping actually would be interesting/a real unexpected pull if they brought her back as the main villain for a new game maybe as the last of umbrella's founding scientist getting research data from all the games locations with the main characters stopping her facilities in teams .).from being a climax to it's remaining threads it's history's direction could've done more with(that i hope 4 remake brings in.) .
to instead just stretching the story out(ada being the biggest case as unless she's revealed to be supplying the samples to an ultimate focal point of the antagonist she might as well just be a rouge the bat esque good guy hitched with leon with more times a agent would realistically let someone live without some attachment to them and especially how bluntly obvious her attraction to him is which i think works like dangerousbride's version of ada & leon give a concept for how it could work.).
and not be a resident evil game with the loss of the campy nature 4 and 5 at least had that made 7 feel even more like a breath of fresh air, though did like the concept of the family(imo think village was when it had a great identity instead of just being the patriots as i love miranda being the origin of the entire series.) and enjoyed the extras like the l4d appearances(and thinking glados in mario was next with how we had tf2 in sonic transformed.).

Jake's campaign was where I started getting bored for one reason; snow levels are so hit or miss to me. I enjoyed Castle Cainhurst from Bloodborne but that is because it wasn't mainly about the snow, but the castle, while the snow merely accentiated it. Frigid Outskirts from Dark Souls 2 was nothing but misery. It's also in RE6's snow level where the instskills got ludicrous. Haos from Chris' campaign was also pretty bad with that because you need to climb up the shaft almost flawlessly.

This was the time Resident Evil fell into the same trap a fellow Capcom series (that being Dino Crisis) ended up in, going from survival horror to a more action oriented, cinematic type of game. It really did feel like Capcom was just chasing trends at the time, instead of focusing on what made these franchises great to begin with, and the hiatus that Resident Evil took was much needed, so that Resident Evil VII could make the impact that it did.
Though, we may not ever get another Dino Crisis game, because after Dino Crisis 3, with its dinosaurs in space shenanigans, where could they go from there, and, have we really recovered from such an event like that?

At first, I didn’t like it near as much as I absolutely loved RE5 (and honestly, I still don’t quite), but I do still love this game. My friend and I played this SOOO many times. Jake and Sherry’s was always our favorite campaign because my friend loves Jake’s moveset and because it’s Troy Baker’s voice, which I love too, and I’ve always just loved everything about Sherry. Plus, we also thought Ustanak was pretty cool as a recurring enemy. We always called him Hoobastank. I enjoy all the campaigns to a degree, but I’ll say Leon and Helena’s is actually probably my least favorite because of how freaking slow it starts, how dry Helena generally is as a character, and the fact that I don’t really like most of the settings and environments in it for some reason.
