I have undifferentiated schizophrenia and ptsd an depressed an panic attacks and anxiety and agoraphobia an I have family and friends who know me well but sometimes it's like I'm not me an I get mad an sad I was told I have this since I was 19 years old!!

absolutely! my daughter would consider herself beyond blessed to have a father like him. her totally self absorbed so-called "normal" dad is basically dead to her. the world needs more dads like this one
That blew me away. They're doing so good with her, it brings up so many feelings about what I didn't get. But I'm happy people are out here being raised with so much love.

I wish people talked more about mental health and having children. There's still so much stigma around it. I have a daughter and she understands at 4 that I am sometimes sad and need medicine to be happy. It's the only way I have been able to help her understand my anxiety and depression.
A masters degree, a special education teacher, a painter, a beautiful father, and he thinks he isn’t interesting ??? And listen to the daughter just rattling off his positive attributes. @@Liam-ke2hv This is so true. After seven years of therapy I choose to see good and realize the negative people put out, whether directed toward me or someone else, has more to do with them. And I choose how I allow myself to respond. It's a learned skill.
For real and I can't believe his daughter is only 9 years old.. she sounds wise beyond her years when she speaks. My sister is 9 years old and a very smart girl but THIS girl is SMART smart.

Yep it changed me as well I had no empathy before I had children .I like the way he called it a brain disease think that's a really cool way of describing it .
Us children with parent with schizophrenia feel like we have to become more mature because sometimes the things we go through depending on the person we have to be the adult or we feel like we do. I was the adult in my situation at the age 7 because my mother mixed her mental health with drug use and she hasn’t ever come back from that

maybe its becuase at times she has to feel responsible for him. Maybe for example answering hallucination questions or making him feel better. They seem to have a very lovely relationship though, and its so beautiful to see that.
@@kianamarie9348 I feel for you. I do think it may be a little broader, though. I would say children who grow up in difficult situations tend to be forced to grow up faster or they'll break under the weight of it. My mother was bipolar and an IV drug user (meth), and there really wasn't much difference between me and the average adult by the time I was 14. In fact, a lot of my friends at that point were 20+ years old, because I just didn't get along with people my own age.
I am been thinking about how different words have different connotations. Disorder: bad, not a part of you, needs to be cured. Disability: Not bad nor good, but a part of you and doesn’t need to be cured. Schizoaffective disorder can be truly disabling, as is with any other condition. And also another secret: you can get services for Schizoaffective disorder.
I also agree 💯 But, I am also not interested in parenting in anyone (unless it’s a furbaby, snakes, spiders, birds or … my villagers in ACNH) and I don’t want to carry a child.

Kye's answer to the question, "Do you love your dad?" tells you everything you need to know about the loving family she is surrounded by. "Everybody loves their parents" is such an innocent take, because she's known nothing but love her whole life.
"she can't begin to realize how brilliant she is and what a future gonna be like. That's my favorite thing about her." Those words right there are amazing. She'll never forget them. And it's something I need to say to my children. Thank you.
I wanted to say that she is a beautiful soul, but caution not to put too much emphasis on "becoming" "someone/something brilliant". She's already great, and she's allowed to make mistakes and falter. She doesn't have to be brilliant or even great in the future. She just has to be true to her heart and her understanding of the world. Sometimes even the good labels "brilliant" can come with great weight - a feeling of hacing to live up to external expectations. Lots of love to you all. I hope that you can interpret the positive intention behind this message.
@@daria3665 totally understand where you're coming from but wanted to point out that it doesn't seem like this particular case is one to worry about :) the dad (and the original comment) both said that the daughter IS brilliant not that she will BECOME brilliant. it's just the way certain parents look at their children; some children will never think of themselves as highly as their parents do, not because they think poorly of themselves but because to that parent, they are just so amazing and spectacular. it has nothing to do with what the child does or doesn't achieve, it's just the fact that they existence. the daughter also seemed touched by the compliment
I'm a parent with schizoaffective disorder depressive type to one amazing daughter (pregnant with a son too) and his message moved me to tears so many times. I don't feel so alone now. Thank you, Brandon. For your courage and strength in getting through every day and for sharing your story.
I’m so happy he talked about how important it is to stay away from drugs and alcohol if you have a parent/family member that is schizophrenic. I hope he realizes how important his voice is. What a wonderful person!
I stayed away from drugs and alcohol before I knew I had bipolar disorder and I definitely believe it is part of why I am firstly still alive at 40 but also med-free for 15 years. Early therapy was also part of that . And very tolerant friends and partners. But I'm so glad I never went down the road of drugs and alcohol; it helped give me the best fighting chance for the happiness I have today.
I have schizoaffective bipolar type and I'm a recovering meth and heroin addict. I'm only 21 but I'm trying to stay clean. I mean, drugs are just instant psychosis it's crazy. I'll see people and hear people immediately upon doing drugs and I'm glad I'm on a better path for sure. So so glad they mention that
My mom has schizophrenia and has been outside of society for over 15 years, so I really appreciate this video. Brandon, you are SUCH a good dad, and working through your struggles every day. I do agree. Being a neurodivergent parent can work, obviously. And even if we do well, we keep holding on to shame about being "too much" sometimes. Which is valid and it shows that you just don't want to hurt anyone around you in any way. But if they just love you and are educated about what's going on, then don't worry. You guys will do the right things. Not just them, not just you, together.
My father was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia around the year I was born 1987. A psychiatrist told him "you are useless, and will never be a functioning member of society". Shortly after he went missing, lost contact with my mum and I his sisters, his parents. I spent my whole adult life looking for him. Last year the police came to tell me had passed away. When I spoke to the supervisor of disability support provider that worked with him she shared in their notes that he felt he had no one in the world. He died alone. I guess he could never come out of that hiding. No one should have to hide. Thank you for having the courage to show this for others. I never got to have a dad and he never got to have a daughter but I am so glad that you guys have each other.
The practically quit sleeping part. I had that experience after my late husband passed away by suicide. I would fall asleep, but then I would have terrible dreams. Night terrors probably. I got to the point where I feared falling asleep, even though it’s inevitable. It took grief counseling to help me get through it. I had to do self-talk, and telling myself that I wasn’t going to FEAR anything in my dreams. It took time, but it worked for the most part! I’m thankful for that counseling. I have faced other bad dreams with that outlook as well.
The most wonderful about this channel, is that it shows cases that used to be kept under the carpet for too long, it takes us closer to people like you, helping us to understand you more, to be prepared of how to act, when something happens to you while you're having a crisis or spacing out, or whatever it is that's causing you your illness. You're not alone, you may never have too many people in your life (and probably that's a good thing from a point of view), but you'll have those who'll be just enough and worthy to stay by your side. Like someone who is missing a leg or something and learns to live with what he has, thus you must keep on living with your struggle, embracing your fears and becoming stronger and stronger. Just a small step day-by-day. And my tip: use humor even the blackiest in your darkest hours. It helps! I'm so sure it's not easy at all and I'm speaking without dealing with what you do, we all have our own issues, but whenever you feel really down in a quite deep hole alone, try to remember that some people around the world (like us, watching these videos) and near your circle, are thinking of you and are worried about you! So, you are not alone, try to remember this! 😊🍀
Me and my dad both have schizoaffective disorder. We both deal with the stigma from it. Every time I look in the mirror I see my dad. This was SO awesome to see being talked about. Thank you so so much
I think of it as any other disease. Alcohol, drugs,gambling. I'm diagnosed with bad anxiety, though I've never heard of good anxiety...lol I'm bipolar 1 and 2, I have a heart disease, I'm in Remission of Hodgkins Lymphoma back at 23. I'll be 51 next month, still in Remission. I used to do all I can to keep the focus from me at social gatherings. We all know it's easier to focus on someone else, than to look in there own back yard...
I'm sorry, I understood when you said it's awesome to ya when your talked about. People definitely need to check themselves to remind them that there not qualified to judge anyone
This was simultaneously heartbreaking and stunningly beautiful to watch. I've *never* been so moved by another human being's conviction of life and mastery of self. What a role model for his family, his daughter, and a loudspeaker for those who haven't yet discovered their own courageous voice. Absolutely beautiful. The fact that he is talking openly about mental health is one of the best things he can do for his child’s development and health in the future. I’m 24 and am just now learning to identify and describe feelings because I didn’t have that growing up
I’m sure he has climbed many mountains his entire life and he has not finally made it to the top where he can enjoy his life!! Everyday is a battle and he has won! He obviously had to fight very hard for himself and get help himself! He’s an amazing person who has never given up!!

I keep seeing comments about him but his wife has to be pretty incredible to have helped raised this courageous young lady and be so supportive of her husband. What a blessing she is
"He could be your brother." My older brother is schizophrenic, his dad was schizophrenic (ended up taking his own life in front of my brothers face when he was 5 years old) and I have a friend who is schizoaffective. My brother was our protector when we were younger. He was intelligent, got all A's, and when he was 17 he moved away. Because of circumstances I didn't see him again for 5 years and by that time he had gotten into drugs, alcohol, wrecked a car, and was fully in the grip of schizophrenia. My brother goes long periods of time where you can't get ahold of him, can't reach him mentally, he is in that well. Down that hole. I would love to be this man's friend. Everyone meets you where they are at, and you meet them where they are at.
I got it at 15 and have a similar circumstance. I love all three of my little brothers to death, but I understand they can’t be around me all the time. I’m sorry for you, but I’d bet that your brother loves you very much.
The daughter is so darn sweet. Recently I found out a way to cheat hallucinations as a schizophrenic… a man said that he pulls out his phone to video them and if they show up on the camera they’re real and if not, not real 😊
Brandon is so inspiring. This interview actually taught me a lot. Not only about schizophrenia, but also about "life-stuff". Many kids with "normal" dads don't have that good of the relationship as he has with his daughter.
You're a good father, your daughter seems like she will be a compassionate, upstanding citizen who will make the world a more intelligent and better place.

I appreciate that they are prioritizing the mental health of their children, through counselors etc. Growing up in a house with a parent having a chronic disease, I have seen how easy it is for other people to get left behind accidentally. My uncle had schizophrenia. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Like any organ in your body the brain doesn’t always work the way it’s supposed to. Sometimes, it turns against you in ways you never thought it would. We really need to de-stigmatized mental health and treat people who have these sorts of illnesses with the same dignity and respect as everyone else.
I needed this interview today at this moment. I came to RUclips looking for something to relate to. Schizoaffective has taken almost everything from me and I’m building back but today I am tired. Thank you for what you do and thank you for being courageous and speaking out.
Bethany it is very tiring trying to be "normal" when your brain chemicals aren't doing normal things. If you stay open to hearing about how others with our disorders feel it is easier to recognize when you are spiralling down. Brandon said that well. A therapist once said that we each have a garbage can full of things we don't want anyone else to see. We sit on the lid of that can to keep them all hidden inside. Sometimes we get tired, sad, lonely and get tipped off the lid by something stronger that day. We have to use all of our coping skills to deal with that "thing" and make it weaker so we can climb back up and control the lid. I believe in you and all of us who daily fight for a "normal" life.

This week has been one of the most stressful weeks of my life and definitely the most stressful since my last inpatient hospitalization last year. I feel like I am relearning every single thing about my life and building everything back except I’m also a homeschooling mom of 4, running my husbands paperwork side of his business and a million other things. This week just a series of random events happened in rapid succession and I truly felt today it might break me and I can’t go back to where I was. I want to hold on to these coping mechanisms I’ve learned. I’m going to keep fighting. I am just so exhausted by life kicking me when I’m fighting to get back up from the disorder kicking me down. It seems life and the disorder just take turns. I’m not into pity parties, and I know this week will end and I will see better days. I’m just so so tired. Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Depression, ADHD/Autism, and borderline all run in my Family on both sides. We are a family that has severe trauma from our struggles in mental health, but we always try to stick together. I empathize greatly greatly with them all, and couldn't thank Thank them all more for sharing your story publicly .
I have been diagnosed officially with PTSD and ASD with acute anxiety. Each disorder is it's own struggle, but I've come to find an acceptance in my diagnosis and that has really helped the daily living issues. I wish you the best in your mental health journey ❤

My dad is schizophrenic. I’ve seen two really bad break downs. My childhood friend or 16 years is schizophrenic as well. A lot of us can definitely understand whether we are dealing with it or have family/friends dealing with it. We see you.
As someone who's stepdad (Pretty much dad as he's been there since I was little) has schizoaffective disorder, I can tell these two are troopers, and he has nothing to be embarrassed of. He seems like a proper top notch bloke. And omg when he cried, that brought a tear to my eye.

I had 12 wonderful years with my wife, who had schizo-effective disorder. I spent a lot of time helping her navigate what was real and untangle / interpret the auditory hallucinations she frequently had to deal with. I wasn't always as patient as I could have been but it was a privilege to be trusted so much by someone I loved with such a difficult disease. Thank you for sharing this families story.

My roommate who is one of my best friends has schizophrenia and bipolar. I’m probably one of the few friends she has told. She does an amazing job of masking this but I can see the days where she is struggling more. This has put a lot into perspective.
Beautiful. I was raised by a schizophrenic mother who is a wonderful person and so much more than her illness. There have been ups and downs in our relationship of course but she always made sure my sister and I were taken care of. Watching this video and hearing Brandon speak so eloquently and so open and honest truly brought tears to my eyes. Seeing the relationship between him and his daughter felt like looking in a mirror. That little girl has such a kind and compassionate heart already at only 9 yrs old. She will do wonders for humanity. Thank you for this video ❤️
Amber, I was also raised by a mother with schizophrenia. She was the most loving kind person I’ve ever met on this planet, she was my best friend. There are so many misconceptions, this is a great video.
Yes, his daughter is brilliant, but that's probably due (to a great extent) to how brilliant he is. He raised her kindly and with his good heart made her understand what really matters in life. Great father-daughter bond, hope they keep advancing medications so he feels like he can go out into the world. As someone with an auto-immune issue that makes me really skinny and throw up all the time, even in the middle of conversations, i know the feeling of anxiety/embarrassment you get just going outside to meet with people. Keep your head up and pushing forward. You gotta make it to your little girls wedding some day :)
@@sarahcoletti6946 I haven't got checked for gastroparesis yet, they thought it was superior mesenteric artery syndrome, then cannabis hyperemesis syndrome, then cancer, then crohns disease, now saying auto immune since they can't figure it out and want to do a lupus test and other tests. Not fun at all.

Beautiful to see this smart young lady understanding and supporting her dad. We have a family member with the same disorder and have dealt with the same types of issues, but have learned how to support and help them, just like this angel. It is not easy sometimes but we understand their disorder and will love and support them forever.

I feel so bad for all the shame and guilt he carries. Imagine feeling that way on top of dealing with his hallucinations and constant fear and low mood? It's like feeling embarrassed you have cancer... it's an illness, he didn't ask for it, and you can tell he's such a kind soul. He didn't deserve it.

@@proudexmuslim2354 please don’t be misinformed. The statistics show that if anything those with mental illness have a higher risk of being victims of violence then actually causing harm to other!! And proper medication management has meant that many live normal health fulfilling lives with families and a job. Sometimes they need to take things slower and that is 100% okay too.
“Sometimes it’s just easier to be alone”. I’m so much more at peace when I’m alone. I totally get it. Though I also have lost contact with nearly everybody I’ve known.

Im also schizoaffective and definitely feel his pain. I especially resonate with how he depends on his wife. You tend to have a favorite person, an anchor while in between worlds that assures you'll eventually come back to a safe place. Interviews like this really give someone with the same disease a lot of encouragement. I hope Brandon develops more self esteem and acceptance.

I wish people talked more about mental health and having children. There's still so much stigma around it. I have a daughter and she understands at 4 that I am sometimes sad and need medicine to be happy. It's the only way I have been able to help her understand my anxiety and depression.

@@kianamarie9348 I feel for you. I do think it may be a little broader, though. I would say children who grow up in difficult situations tend to be forced to grow up faster or they'll break under the weight of it.
My mother was bipolar and an IV drug user (meth), and there really wasn't much difference between me and the average adult by the time I was 14. In fact, a lot of my friends at that point were 20+ years old, because I just didn't get along with people my own age.

I am been thinking about how different words have different connotations. Disorder: bad, not a part of you, needs to be cured.
Disability: Not bad nor good, but a part of you and doesn’t need to be cured.
Schizoaffective disorder can be truly disabling, as is with any other condition. And also another secret: you can get services for Schizoaffective disorder.

I wanted to say that she is a beautiful soul, but caution not to put too much emphasis on "becoming" "someone/something brilliant". She's already great, and she's allowed to make mistakes and falter. She doesn't have to be brilliant or even great in the future. She just has to be true to her heart and her understanding of the world. Sometimes even the good labels "brilliant" can come with great weight - a feeling of hacing to live up to external expectations. Lots of love to you all. I hope that you can interpret the positive intention behind this message.

I stayed away from drugs and alcohol before I knew I had bipolar disorder and I definitely believe it is part of why I am firstly still alive at 40 but also med-free for 15 years. Early therapy was also part of that . And very tolerant friends and partners. But I'm so glad I never went down the road of drugs and alcohol; it helped give me the best fighting chance for the happiness I have today.
I have schizoaffective bipolar type and I'm a recovering meth and heroin addict. I'm only 21 but I'm trying to stay clean. I mean, drugs are just instant psychosis it's crazy. I'll see people and hear people immediately upon doing drugs and I'm glad I'm on a better path for sure. So so glad they mention that

I do agree. Being a neurodivergent parent can work, obviously. And even if we do well, we keep holding on to shame about being "too much" sometimes. Which is valid and it shows that you just don't want to hurt anyone around you in any way. But if they just love you and are educated about what's going on, then don't worry. You guys will do the right things. Not just them, not just you, together.

My father was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia around the year I was born 1987. A psychiatrist told him "you are useless, and will never be a functioning member of society". Shortly after he went missing, lost contact with my mum and I his sisters, his parents. I spent my whole adult life looking for him. Last year the police came to tell me had passed away. When I spoke to the supervisor of disability support provider that worked with him she shared in their notes that he felt he had no one in the world. He died alone. I guess he could never come out of that hiding. No one should have to hide. Thank you for having the courage to show this for others. I never got to have a dad and he never got to have a daughter but I am so glad that you guys have each other.

The practically quit sleeping part. I had that experience after my late husband passed away by suicide. I would fall asleep, but then I would have terrible dreams. Night terrors probably. I got to the point where I feared falling asleep, even though it’s inevitable. It took grief counseling to help me get through it. I had to do self-talk, and telling myself that I wasn’t going to FEAR anything in my dreams. It took time, but it worked for the most part! I’m thankful for that counseling. I have faced other bad dreams with that outlook as well.
I struggle with schizoaffective disorder as well, hearing this story has made me feel less alone in this world. Thank you.

The most wonderful about this channel, is that it shows cases that used to be kept under the carpet for too long, it takes us closer to people like you, helping us to understand you more, to be prepared of how to act, when something happens to you while you're having a crisis or spacing out, or whatever it is that's causing you your illness.
You're not alone, you may never have too many people in your life (and probably that's a good thing from a point of view), but you'll have those who'll be just enough and worthy to stay by your side.
Like someone who is missing a leg or something and learns to live with what he has, thus you must keep on living with your struggle, embracing your fears and becoming stronger and stronger. Just a small step day-by-day. And my tip: use humor even the blackiest in your darkest hours. It helps!
I'm so sure it's not easy at all and I'm speaking without dealing with what you do, we all have our own issues, but whenever you feel really down in a quite deep hole alone, try to remember that some people around the world (like us, watching these videos) and near your circle, are thinking of you and are worried about you! So, you are not alone, try to remember this! 😊🍀

The fact that he is talking openly about mental health is one of the best things he can do for his child’s development and health in the future. I’m 24 and am just now learning to identify and describe feelings because I didn’t have that growing up

I keep seeing comments about him but his wife has to be pretty incredible to have helped raised this courageous young lady and be so supportive of her husband. What a blessing she is

My older brother is schizophrenic, his dad was schizophrenic (ended up taking his own life in front of my brothers face when he was 5 years old) and I have a friend who is schizoaffective. My brother was our protector when we were younger. He was intelligent, got all A's, and when he was 17 he moved away. Because of circumstances I didn't see him again for 5 years and by that time he had gotten into drugs, alcohol, wrecked a car, and was fully in the grip of schizophrenia. My brother goes long periods of time where you can't get ahold of him, can't reach him mentally, he is in that well. Down that hole. I would love to be this man's friend. Everyone meets you where they are at, and you meet them where they are at.

PLease give him the book 'Your soul's plan' by Robert Schwartz. It might resonate with him on a deep level. If it does then that's his way out.
I got it at 15 and have a similar circumstance. I love all three of my little brothers to death, but I understand they can’t be around me all the time. I’m sorry for you, but I’d bet that your brother loves you very much.
The daughter is so darn sweet. Recently I found out a way to cheat hallucinations as a schizophrenic… a man said that he pulls out his phone to video them and if they show up on the camera they’re real and if not, not real 😊

My uncle had schizophrenia. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Like any organ in your body the brain doesn’t always work the way it’s supposed to. Sometimes, it turns against you in ways you never thought it would. We really need to de-stigmatized mental health and treat people who have these sorts of illnesses with the same dignity and respect as everyone else.

I needed this interview today at this moment. I came to RUclips looking for something to relate to. Schizoaffective has taken almost everything from me and I’m building back but today I am tired. Thank you for what you do and thank you for being courageous and speaking out.
Bethany it is very tiring trying to be "normal" when your brain chemicals aren't doing normal things. If you stay open to hearing about how others with our disorders feel it is easier to recognize when you are spiralling down. Brandon said that well.
A therapist once said that we each have a garbage can full of things we don't want anyone else to see. We sit on the lid of that
can to keep them all hidden inside. Sometimes we get tired, sad, lonely and get tipped off the lid by something stronger that day. We have to use all of our coping skills to deal with that "thing" and make it weaker so we can climb back up and control the lid.
I believe in you and all of us who daily fight for a "normal" life.

This week has been one of the most stressful weeks of my life and definitely the most stressful since my last inpatient hospitalization last year. I feel like I am relearning every single thing about my life and building everything back except I’m also a homeschooling mom of 4, running my husbands paperwork side of his business and a million other things. This week just a series of random events happened in rapid succession and I truly felt today it might break me and I can’t go back to where I was. I want to hold on to these coping mechanisms I’ve learned. I’m going to keep fighting. I am just so exhausted by life kicking me when I’m fighting to get back up from the disorder kicking me down. It seems life and the disorder just take turns. I’m not into pity parties, and I know this week will end and I will see better days. I’m just so so tired. We are a family that has severe trauma from our struggles in mental health, but we always try to stick together.

I have borderline personality disorder and bipolar depression and acute anxiety it's wicked I wouldn't wish it on anyone
I have been diagnosed officially with PTSD and ASD with acute anxiety. Each disorder is it's own struggle, but I've come to find an acceptance in my diagnosis and that has really helped the daily living issues.

My dad is schizophrenic. I’ve seen two really bad break downs. My childhood friend or 16 years is schizophrenic as well. A lot of us can definitely understand whether we are dealing with it or have family/friends dealing with it. We see you.
As someone who's stepdad (Pretty much dad as he's been there since I was little) has schizoaffective disorder, I can tell these two are troopers, and he has nothing to be embarrassed of. He seems like a proper top notch bloke. And omg when he cried, that brought a tear to my eye.
I wanna tell him that he shouldn't be embarrassed about anything. Brandon is extremely brave. This story is absolutely heartwarming. And his daughter is amazing ❤️
I had 12 wonderful years with my wife, who had schizo-effective disorder. I spent a lot of time helping her navigate what was real and untangle / interpret the auditory hallucinations she frequently had to deal with.
I wasn't always as patient as I could have been but it was a privilege to be trusted so much by someone I loved with such a difficult disease. Thank you for sharing this families story.

My roommate who is one of my best friends has schizophrenia and bipolar. I’m probably one of the few friends she has told. She does an amazing job of masking this but I can see the days where she is struggling more. This has put a lot into perspective.
Beautiful. I was raised by a schizophrenic mother who is a wonderful person and so much more than her illness. There have been ups and downs in our relationship of course but she always made sure my sister and I were taken care of. Watching this video and hearing Brandon speak so eloquently and so open and honest truly brought tears to my eyes. Seeing the relationship between him and his daughter felt like looking in a mirror. That little girl has such a kind and compassionate heart already at only 9 yrs old. She will do wonders for humanity. Thank you for this video ❤️

Amber, I was also raised by a mother with schizophrenia. She was the most loving kind person I’ve ever met on this planet, she was my best friend. There are so many misconceptions, this is a great video.
Yes, his daughter is brilliant, but that's probably due (to a great extent) to how brilliant he is. He raised her kindly and with his good heart made her understand what really matters in life. They are both lucky to have each other. Wish you all the best💙

My uncle developed schizophrenia after he was in the gulf War and doesn't talk to anyone besides his parents and it makes me so sad. I wish nothing but the best for this wonderful man and his family!!
Great father-daughter bond, hope they keep advancing medications so he feels like he can go out into the world. As someone with an auto-immune issue that makes me really skinny and throw up all the time, even in the middle of conversations, i know the feeling of anxiety/embarrassment you get just going outside to meet with people. Keep your head up and pushing forward. You gotta make it to your little girls wedding some day :)

@@sarahcoletti6946 I haven't got checked for gastroparesis yet, they thought it was superior mesenteric artery syndrome, then cannabis hyperemesis syndrome, then cancer, then crohns disease, now saying auto immune since they can't figure it out and want to do a lupus test and other tests. Not fun at all.

Beautiful to see this smart young lady understanding and supporting her dad. We have a family member with the same disorder and have dealt with the same types of issues, but have learned how to support and help them, just like this angel. It is not easy sometimes but we understand their disorder and will love and support them forever.

I feel so bad for all the shame and guilt he carries. Imagine feeling that way on top of dealing with his hallucinations and constant fear and low mood? It's like feeling embarrassed you have cancer... it's an illness, he didn't ask for it, and you can tell he's such a kind soul. He didn't deserve it.
My dad has mental health issues he never got diagnosed and we all suffered.. this man being so open.. his love for his daughter.. ugh crying
Took my dad years just to seek treatment. I don’t think he’s even taking his meds and I’m 100 % positive he is schizophrenic.

@@proudexmuslim2354 please don’t be misinformed. The statistics show that if anything those with mental illness have a higher risk of being victims of violence then actually causing harm to other!! And proper medication management has meant that many live normal health fulfilling lives with families and a job. Sometimes they need to take things slower and that is 100% okay too.
“Sometimes it’s just easier to be alone”. I’m so much more at peace when I’m alone. I totally get it. Though I also have lost contact with nearly everybody I’ve known.

Im also schizoaffective and definitely feel his pain. I especially resonate with how he depends on his wife. You tend to have a favorite person, an anchor while in between worlds that assures you'll eventually come back to a safe place.
Interviews like this really give someone with the same disease a lot of encouragement. I hope Brandon develops more self esteem and acceptance.
