one of my best skate memories was this dude. he stopped at the SMALLEST skateshop in connecticut called axis boardsports in brookfield. i was maybe 15 and he jumps out of a gold tahoe (this was during the chadilac muskalade era) boom box on his shoulder. rolls up nose slides the ledge. hits the quarter pipe rolls back and 3 flips the flat on a pyramid. like fresh out of the car late as heck in the tahoe for probably 10 hours to get to this spot which MAYBE had 10 of us there. this dude is a legend
Kids nowadays don't get it. It was different back in the day when there wasn't just media available at all times to see the latest whatever about whoever. You had to go months without knowing what was going down.

I am an artist, who loves to skate, and much stronger as an artist than as a skater, but I feel the same way about art, ability is great and all but the love of it is the very essence of what it is, and why it's important to do it, and anybody who makes art has the right to call themselves an artist. In skating, as in the art world, there is a lot of elitist nonsense, and like Muska I think the vital thing is to participate, create and love it for its own sake. That is what I think 'core' is.
Muskal was never an elitist skater. He was a skater for the people and thrived for the connections he would make all over the map. Big ups on this episode. The G.O.A.T.

I step on a board once every other year ( hey I can still bigspin lol )but I still credit skateboarding with making me tough and helping me through tough times. Muska was skateboarding for me, glad to see life is still good to him. Thanks muska for good times with friends.
Have noticed that in a lot of these episodes like the Tony hawk and Steve-O ones. These dudes are really good listeners and the comfort level their guests must feel to talk for that long uninterrupted

This episode epitomizes why I love The Nine Club. Muska starts out unsure and apologizing for telling his own story. Then you guys reassure him and keep reassuring him and he just relaxes and it all flows. He’s a classic ADHD person; I had no idea how intelligent and insightful he is. Serious, if you get a moment check out the Beagle tape that was just released with Muska, you can just tell the guy is just so stoked on life and skating. Then you hear Beagle so stoked that he filmed a Muska line.
He actually paused and said, “the city” I noticed because it would have been edgelord for him to say it, but by just clarifying, he highlighted the potential joke then cruised past it. Never thought I’d say it about Muska, but that was hella classy. He’s always been a good dude, but he’s grown into a really awesome man.

Muska has a big heart but bam really is a prick of a person. He acted like an asshole since a teen. Guess that’s what happens when you have parents you know are walkovers.
Bam needs to head to Rehab and then just have The Muska with him for a few months that would pull him the fuck outta whatever darkness he’s going thru! Muska is hella positive
I’ll Never forget the time the muskalade pulled up to me and my group of friends heading to a demo, the dark tinted window rolled down and Muska shouted “Yo! Where the demo at?” He killed it that day like the legend that he is.
That’s because he’s knowledgeable, genuinely interested in his guests and allows them to actually talk! The fact Chris has a good sense of humour doesn’t hurt either!
I love sarcasm but constructive criticism like sounding insincere three words into the guest’s response kinda sometimes stifles the flow of a story and can be disrespectful. Also , validating and paraphrasing with a kinda patronising tone is unnecessary. Just trying to offer my observation for better interviews.
I love watching some off these guys first come on the show and you can totally tell they don't know what to say and where to start but by the middle of interview the stories start straight flowing and by the end they don't want to stop!!!it's like a form of therapy for them and I love it!!!

Chad Muska knows he is a flawed character and instead of fighting against what would be a negative aspect to most mortals Muska has embraced the flaws and incorporated it into who and what he is. 4 hours well spent learning the history of the lifestyle I love.

@@SYratherripped there's no solid proof anywhere, but its assumed he over stayed a visa or had some tax issues. He still travels and skates a lot but never to U.S. .... He was in Canada last month though
@@SYratherripped I think I remember penny talking about it in an interview. He had visa issues and got deported back to England and he hasn't been back since IIRC. I think he said he might be able to come back but hasn't tried.

He’s all stressed from city noises and madness .. then he puts on the headphones 🎧 and throws his board down and that Spanish song goes on dude is cruising doing Ollie’s it’s a metaphor for skating being a an escape from the bs of the world yet finding this inner peace.
