In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan. As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands as one of the last surviving members of his clan.
He is resolved to do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.
Venture beyond the battlefield to experience feudal Japan like never before. In this open-world action adventure, you’ll roam vast countrysides and expansive terrain to encounter rich characters, discover ancient landmarks, and uncover the hidden beauty of Tsushima.
Explore meticulously-crafted regions showcasing diversity of life on the sprawling island-from billowing fields and tranquil shrines to ancient forests, villages and stark mountainscapes. Find peace in the quiet moments of natural harmony and solace in the moments you’ll share with the people you help along the way.
Jin was raised and trained in the ways of the samurai. When the Mongols handily defeat the samurai forces, Jin’s world is shattered. He is faced with the most difficult decision of his life: honor the tradition and customs of his samurai upbringing and maintain a fight he cannot win, or deviate from his samurai path to protect the island and its people by any means necessary.
In his quest to reclaim Tsushima, Jin must seek the guidance and support of old friends and new unlikely allies. He must break away from tradition, become a new kind of warrior, and protect what’s left of his home at all costs.
The Mongol enemy is unpredictable and formidable in warfare and weaponry. Get the upper hand by adapting Jin’s skills and learning new tactics to defend the island and protect the people of Tsushima.
Challenge opponents head-on in close quarters with your katana for a unique immersive samurai combat experience. Master the bow to eliminate distant threats with lethal precision. Develop stealth and deception tactics to disorient and ambush enemies with surprise attacks.
An adaptive landscape and organic approach to combat makes Tsushima the perfect playground for mixing and matching skills, weapons, and tactics to find the perfect combat blend for your play style. As Jin’s story unfolds, versatility and creativity will become your greatest weapons.

ACG?
@@rabidrob4210 Great review channel u shuld subscribe
What is acg
I watch a lot of reviewers/youtubers that, whether I agree with them on a specific topic or not, I know I can trust them. Cowboy obviously being one of them.
For the most honest, least biased, most inclusive of the stuff I need to know if I'm on the fence reviews, I think ACG is it.
For you guys who haven't heard of him, check out a review or 2 of his for games that you are already familiar with. He's also just a really good dude that cares about the industry. He'll often tell you to "show some love" to other, lesser known youtubers.
I love ACG
A cowboy review before the let’s play!?? Nice
When its quality you have to applaud
The sound effects are straight ASMR.
Ghost of Tsushima out here trying to save 2020.
Hopefully it will 🤓
Best comment ever!!!
Take my upvote.
Yes! That and Liquid Richard dropping a hot new single also helps. 🤓👌

The dude loves the game. That’s all i need to hear. Cheers!
I know man. Cowboys opinion of a Brand new RPG game is all you need.
@@Chris00792 plus hes not even done with it and he said all this. I'm sold. I'm preordering mine as soon as I get home lol
ACG sent me your way, just thought I'd say Whattup.
With this game I can now imagine Nioh 3-open world demon slayer game and that my friend. Could be game of the century.
An open world Nioh game would be definitely the best game ever, well, for me Nioh is already the best game ever but only Nioh open world could beat it :)
Elden Ring is coming.
Game of the century?..not even close.
Tyler Drainville who cares about clunky ring?
Alia Imam yes, game of the century
Praise the glorious Nippon steel. Can’t wait for this game. The hype is real.
"Can't wait for this game, praise glorious nippon steel, the hype is so real." I took your rhyme and made it a haiku.
I just wish that steel was from a Tachi instead of katana. But I long since gave up on the game being historically accurate. At least it looks like a great samurai fantasy
@@SeanHiruki glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. I like tachis better than katanas. Helps that a character in a game series I love a lot uses one as his weapon
Thricefold Awesome 👏🏻
You & ACG. All I need, with all due respect to the other review channels. Good stuff sir
Top tier quality content, straight to the point and delivers every time. This is why I love cowboy🤙🏻👌🏻
Made my way here through ACG. Two of my favorite reviewers now. Awesome content Cowboy!!!!!!
A cowboy review? Smells like GOT turned out to be great.
I'm new to this channel so I don't get what you mean.. does cowboy only review good games or something?
@@TimoNaaro cowboy reviews every game he plays at the end credits, so him doing it now is a very good thing
It's unusual for him to review a game before he's finished it.
He doesnt normally review a game before he's finished it. The fact that he said that this may be his new favorite game is saying a crap ton about the game itself
I watched a ton of your Nioh 2 videos and loved that game too so when you said that you love Ghost even more, I was instantly convinced that ill be buying it. Was on the fence with some good and badish reviews but you changed my mind. Thanks and keep up the great videos!!
A cowboy review what he says matters to me LETS GO your so underrated my friend
Knew won't regret preordering it ...also glad for mentioning ACG ...you two are my favourite reviewers
One of the few games to ever come out that seems to look better in the final release than it did in the previews!
Who is acg
@@wernerrodas5136 He's a game reviewer who does no bullshit detailed reviews and some other stuff like "walking the walk" where he talks in great depth about what it's like to "be" in the games. He's very well respected by fans and peers alike. Check out his channel
@@HighLanderPonyYT What's your source for that?
Great review. I also love this game -- I'm about 25 hours in. It's one of the best open world games I have played in the last 2-3 years.
Thanks for your review. I’ve been on the fence til now. Just pre ordered based on your endorsement.
Thanks cowboy! I was on the fence and this was the push I needed. I always respect your opinions, it's much appreciated dude
Loved the review. Just a little feedback: i heard this video on my phone speaker and for me the game audio was at times way louder than your voice made it hard to hear you sometimes. Great vid, big fan
I Can’t Wait To See Your Walkthrough Guide For This Beautiful Game Cowboy!!!!
Your Walkthroughs Are Top Echelon In My Opinion. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💯💯💯
When you said carrot of acg. Theres only one person I'd watch over him and now I'm headed over to check his review out. I didn't wanna watch anything but kinda glad I caved in I was like its only 9 minutes. Cant wait for the let's play. Awesome work.
Thank you so much for this! I'll finally get to experience this game tomorrow when it release on steam 💖💖
Thought it would be another generic open world game but after all the stellar reviews from people like you, ACG, skill up, easy allies etc I'm definitely getting it
Must not watch till I get my copy lol. 🙄
I can’t wait for my collectors 😁
but... it's so much fun to watch cowboy... grrrrrrrr
Prime 118 ive had the special edition ordered since March, can’t wait
To late we all couldnt resist
Just play it and listen then. That's what I did. No spoilers and he basically squashed the only concern I had with this game.
if I wasn’t already bananas hyped for this game before watching this, which I was, this review has me stupid excited
You should do more reviews. Awesome content man!
I can't wait to play this and check out your content on it.
I will say it again, YOU have the best gaming videos out there buddy.
Keep em coming
This was my favorite game during the Covid Pandemic. When I first got it during the holiday season of 2020, I spent like half of my holiday seasons playing this game. The gameplay is good as it combines both katana sword play and stealth. The story is good as it’s not only well written, but gave me an historical education about the the Mongolian Invasion of Japan. My favorite part about this game is the environments is I get to explore Feudal Japan during the Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. I was supposed to got to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics by Covid ruined those plans. But there’s next year’s Spring Break or Summer Break. I would give this game a 9 out of 10.
everything you and acg has said so far has me so excited to play this been watching that damn timer for awhile now >.< 2 days 6 hours to go
I was going to get it before, after hearing you rep it it's a definite day one pick up. Thanks man
Cowboy and ACG are good quality channels! Glad to see the peer respect!
Great review, Cowboy! I realy like the high quality of your videos and the work you put in it. Thank you so much! Greetings from Germany.🤗
I like how u n acg mentioned each other... on other note. Even facebook groups like ps4 platinum or even nioh or darksouls community. Alot of us mention u in comments. You and acg are the top most viewed content I ever watch. Without kissing butts here. I play new games only if acg recommends it. And you for all the content u put. The passed few months with streams and walkthroughs even on the covid moments. U bring us life man. U keep us safe n indoors lmao
Followed your Channel since dark souls 2, and to hear you say you love this more than nioh, now I’m excited
Witcher 3 is my fav game ever, and Nioh 2 was my favorite this year mostly because of your channel so for you to put it up there with both I'm excited to play the shit out of this non stop.
The editing is top notch
To be honest, I am pretty skeptical about this game even after several gameplay trailers, but Cowboy convinced me of getting this goodness.
Edit: just finished the Game I am SO glad I picked it up, DEFINITELY one of the best games I’ve played in recent YEARS. GOTY material right here.
I do not mean to offend but Cyberpunk 2077 needs to be really really astounding to beat Ghost for goty...
Its cdrp so its gonna be
Sony just competes with themselves. Another great game.
They literally just released a trash game a couple weeks ago.
Internet Explorer it was a controversial game, not a trash game.
Good review Cowboy! Very much looking forward to getting this game when it is released.
(Only criticism I'd have is the game sound is a bit too loud, kind of hard to hear you)
My soul needs this game so much, come on allready.
This slots in my top 5 games I've ever played easily
ACG sent me and I really enjoyed this. This sub was an easy call.
This is precisely the type of game i've been looking forward to. I love open world games and samurai/japanese culture. I like the idea of something somewhat challenging that won't beat my head in for not absolutely mastering the battle system like Sekiro.
I’m defiantly using the black and white cinematic mode and living my Kurosawa fantasy.
I'm into Kurosawa mode as well but it might have to wait for a second play through, all those colors are so beautiful.
I looked closely to rocks and i see that they don't have that high resolution or crispness if you will, but the art style is so well and all the elements blend in so good that it looks astonishing and probably saves crazy amount of performance. Very good job.
Can not wait to play this Friday, has been my most anticipated game for years!
This game will compete for GOTY. Cant wait. 3 more days ^_^

@@louistown7835 cyberpunk releases too late to contend
@@HighLanderPonyYT Im hyped asf, pre-ordered it couple of days ago but imagine last of us 2 become goty lol
For me it’s currently nioh 2 with doom eternal as the runner up, but I’m sure GOT will be in my top 5 of the year
@@denhector6123 TLoU2 is my goty, have you played it or just parroting internet outrage?
Really good stuff, well edited and articulate review. looking fwd to the let's play!
Hi Cowboy, if you could compare the control and movement of the game to another game? Which would it be similar to? Sekiro? Assassins creed? Or horizon zero dawn?
None of them really, it's fluid but kind of hard to describe
I see. Nevertheless, i’m enjoying the series 👍 keep up the work and make sure to keep yourself healthy !! Cheers!!
Was waiting for a reliable source of info to see if I should get this. Looks like I'll be picking it up.
Started following you for your Nioh 2 content. Been enjoying the channel.
I just found out about ACG in 2019. Great reviewer for sure. Trusted journalist.
Thank you so much? So far which do you like better Ghost or Sekiro?
5:26 "motonomous" 😂😂😂 Love ya Cowboy, great review, really looking forward to your let's play!
Which do you rely on more? Are you the sneaky type or do you want your enemies to know death is standing in front of them?
Oh I straight call out groups of enemies and fight em anytime I can.
You helped me beat Sekiro! Thank yoooou
Thank you sir for your review. Now I am real excited to play this game. I will be looking forward to your walkthroughs and playthroughs. Thank you for the great content sir.
Game of the year? Yes! Great review brother. I couldn’t really ask for anything more. You’ve done an outstanding job for what you’ve played thus far. Looks like we’ve got our new PS4 killer app boyyos!!
Was this played on a Pro or an older PS4? I have an old PS4 and im kinda worried it`ll not live up to my expectations because of the old hardware. Have seen multiple reviews and most gloss over the difference, if they mention it at all... And when they do mention, ive heard different reports
Looking forward to this playthrough, Cowboy...with my PS4 broken, I have to live it vicariously through you lol
Look at the grass blades, rocks, mountains, lakes, plains, wind, etc. This is basically Japanese breath of the wild!
good stuff here cb, the editing was good too got chills during the samurai showdown lol
This man is fast becoming my favourite RUclipsr.
What difficulty did you play it on? Basically interested in how combat is on "hardest" difficulty, I love really hard games as do you =P. Edit: The majority of the "faults" you mention could be patched especially the camera angle and option to set different buttons for picking up items vs. mounting horse etc.
I had a hard time listening to what you were saying because the game audio was too loud :( but other than that, you've earned yourself a subscriber! Came straight from ACG :)
Yeah I tried to tweak it a couple times but felt like my voice was too loud actually and pulled it back down.
Oh man... Gorgeous game... and more then Nioh 2? Can't wait to see let's play then... THANKS FOR MID-GAME REVIEW!
I'm so glad you decided to do a review. Honestly this game looks like everything I wanted
Great review, will definitely come back to see your videos in the future! 2 questions I think are very important for most players specifically for open world:
1) How is the game-saving (checkpoints autosave/manual save?
2) is there any missable content (side missions gone if progressing the main story or dying etc) should you explore first or do side content first?
Looking forward to your feedback on those 2. Cheers
The game looks great although some areas look a little To colorful but I’ve never been to Japan so I don’t know if this was done by design. Is there a base difficulty or can you choose it and if so what did you put it on?
The developers actually went to this place to get the feel of it, and there are 3 difficulty settings easy medium and hard
Good review so far Cowboy, reminds me of the exploration of Zelda BOTW with interesting things everywhere and lots of vertical exploring too. I am so excited now!
Samurai BOTW isn't far off in terms of a description.
@@FightinCowboy wow that's great too hear because botw has my favorite exploration in any game and mixed with samurai stuff sounds almost too good haha
Thank you for the review. Now I cant wait to get a hold of the game!
Your voice audio is great, but I couldn't help but think the game/sfx volume could be lower to hear you better. I get that the game and music sounds amazing and you want people to hear that too though haha!
Just found your channel today, subscribed.
This game certainly looks far more interesting than I was giving it credit for. The environments look beautiful, too. To hear you rate it higher than even Nioh 2 is certainly VERY high praise indeed!
Either way, a very solid review that covered pretty much everything I wanted to know.
Now, I'm not sure if my laptop's speakers are at fault here, but the audio of the video did sound a little off, like the game volume was a bit too high and you were a bit too quiet.
Finally a samurai game where the enemies are not zombies!
Dope early review bro. Super hyped now
For some reason I like the fact that when you cut guys some of them stand there for a sec like they're thinking wtf just happened and then they fall. Kinda reminds me of trunks in dbz abridged when he cuts the guys and they're like nothing happened and he says nah give it a sec then the guys all fall lol
What kind of difficulty adjustments are there in this game? Great video BTW
There's easy medium and hard, i play on hard and am constantly bombarded by enemies. Maybe 3-4 hits and I'm dead.
Nice review cowboy, you have great taste my man!
thanks , starting friday looking forward to following
hey this might not seem like a big deal, but would you say that the japanese dub lip syncing ruined the immersion or the quality of the experience in any way? great review btw definitely dropped a sub
My biggest problem with it is the sparks that come off the sword with every block. How often does that happen in real life? Almost never right, like once in awhile it should do it. Plus it sparked when his sword blocked a kick. Pretty weak. Little things but noticeable
The length of the game as you describe it gets me excited.
Earlier today, I read an article from Gamespot saying that it would take 20+ hours for the main story and 30+ if you wanted to do everything the game has to offer.
However, you said it could be upwards of 60 hours. That's amazing!!
Also, the comparison to Witcher 3 is also very cool! Witcher 3 is probably my favorite game I've ever played
so excited for this game
love your channel Cowboy!
Happy new year!
Was skeptical, but this review has convinced me to make Tsushima my first day 1 purchase of 2020.
Thanks for the review Cowboy. I like the look of the game (and like you, playing as a samouraï sounds dope), but I’m worried that beyond the main story, side missions/activities will become too repetitive (like Assassins Creed Origins) instead of being more Witcher 3-like. What are your thoughts on this potential issue?
They're way more in line with Witcher 3. There's a lot of tracking actually.
I was as high on this game as FC is in this video when I reached the end of Act 3. I think it's a great game, but after platinuming it and finishing a 2nd playthrough already, I can say that it loses a lot of its appeal after a single playthrough. For most people, this won't be an issue. The main culprit for this is the difficulty. Ghost is an easy game. Lethal mode my be hard for a NG until you get some upgrades going. By the end of Act 1, even Lethal becomes a cakewalk. This is due to the A.I. Likewise, stealth in this game is similarly a breeze thanks to the braindead enemies. Despite the many Ghost tools you have to facilitate cool stealth infiltrations, you never feel challenged trying to ninja your way unnoticed through an encounter in the same way as in the other recent stealth title TLOU2.
Ghost needs a NG+ mode, some way to make combat more challenging, and stealth a little harder to pull off. As it is, it's still a really fun game with beautifully stylish visuals, that despite having overly familiar open-world game design tropes, is successful at giving players that samurai cinema experience. 8.5/10
Thanks for the confirmation that this game is for me. Preordering very shortly.
Man I really hope they fix the wonky camera movements. In addition to having no transparency on walls during combat like you mentioned, it was nauseating every time you passed through a tent (like at 4:30)
That and I noticed there's no friendly fire for enemies. Being able to sidestep and have enemies strike down one another by accident woulda been cool
After beating the main story can you explore the world? Or is that the end of the game?
A samurai game without fantasy, open world and good combat? On yeah!
From what I understand it’s not completely without fantasy, it’s just not one of the main components of the game. Still amazing either way.
are you able to talk about difficulty at all ? (which mode did you pick and how challenging is it so far ?)
You select it, easy/normal/hard, hard is a good challenge.
Pre-ordered! Your seal of approval really makes me confident I will love this game!
GOTY over Nioh 2 from you is HIGH praise. Didn't expect that.
And ghost of tsushima has become the benchmark for what open world games should be like from now on, no politics, no hidden agendas, just pure, unadulterated quality, beauty and joy.
is this a new format your gonna go for? couse if so, i like it. will give us a nice indication on how the game is, and helps those of us (like myself) thats abit unsure in buying it or not, to decide if you want it or not.
hope to see more of this in the future.
The only reason I did a review is cause I had the game 2 weeks prior to launch, typically it's impossible to get out something like this.
ACG got me over here checking out your content
If I could ask a question...
How would you compare the sword-play to Nioh 2.
OBVIOUSLY they control and play EXTREMELY differently (from the looks of it), as GoT doesn’t seem to be very ‘Soulsian’.
But in your opinion, which feels more dynamic? Which style of combat feels more significant? Obviously, this game just seems to be of a higher make and quality as a whole... but I was just wondering about the swordplay/combat in general.
Closer to Sekiro then Nioh
Absolutely loving it, it might end up being one of my all time favourite games! I’m going for the platinum as well! You going for the plat cowboy?
