  • The grand finale!
    In this scenario, an aging Tamar must launch one final conquest against Khwarazm Persia. First, you have to raid as many villages as you can to build up population and resources, and then go all out against the Shah's armies.

    I loved the Mountain Royals campaigns! I mainly come back to AOE2 for the custom campaigns and both the official and fanmade ones are amazing. I also really appreciate the new focus on creating civs in parts of the world that tend to get neglected (Last Khans, Dynastines of India, Mountain Royals). It feels awesome to play campaigns connected to your heritage vs. the same europeans civs over and over again

    i hope they make an east asian ( japanese , chinese & korean ) campaigns dlc next, been waiting for ages for those.
    maybe they could make an Odo Nobunaga campaign for japanese, three kingdom era for korean and Wu Zetian campaign for chinese.
    and maybe add for japanese campaign only a Sōhei warrior monk.

      Same here. I hope they also add campaign dlc for Vietnamese and Cham since they offered interesting historical moments, just to name a few:
      - The defensive campaigns of Tran Dynasty against Mongol-Yuan armies (1258, 1285 and 1287)
      - The defensive campaigns of Korea, led by a Vietnamese refuge general named Ly Long Tuong against the Mongol armies (1232 and 1253)
      - The life and exploits of the last strong Raja of the Cham, Po Binasuor, against Dai Viet. (1367-1390)
      They could add a new Elephant and Navy civ called the Cham so they could make some dlcs revolve around Dai Viet and Champa Kingdom historical rivalry and some Cham campaigns.

    I gotta say the lack of small easter eggs in the new campaigns is a bit sad, there are a few mistresses in Tamar campaign, but not even a single Ornlu the wolf (refund material). In the older campaigns you could often find that random bandit and a house tucked in a corner of the map, that was fun to look for

    I think the woman who told the story is Rusudan of Georgia who is the daughter of David and Tamar the Great. She succeeded her brother George IV and also is the only one survive the Mongol conquest and the last ruler of Georgia Golden Age, the one defeat her is Subutai and Jebe with an army much smaller. She said your father is the greatest conquerors so I assume the one point his bow at her is Jochi, Genghis Khan first son - father of Batu Khan who found the Golden Horde.

    I’d love to see the day when hussar is redesign to have these wings cut off. I really like the new Persian civ. Tbh they seem pretty OP. This bonus civ with cavalary generating gold for each unit killed is insane. And the castle firing with bullets is dope. I hope these features will come to other civs because it’s pretty unfair only Persian get these dope features. 😂

    I personally think Tamar is the best of the new campaigns, though there were some great scenarios in the others as well. Now that there are four DLCs for AoE2 DE, maybe you can do a new top 10 best campaign scenarios? There are loads of great scenarios in these DLCs that deserve to be mentioned. Some of my favorites are:
    A Man of God (Longshanks 2)
    Bohemond and the Emperor (Hautevilles 3)
    Wonder of the World (Hautevilles 5)
    The Tatar Yoke (Algirdas and Kestutis 3)
    Duel of the Dukes (Jadwiga 3)
    Vytautas' Crusade (Jadwiga 5)
    The Golden City (Jan Zizka 4)
    The Battle of Panipat (Babur 4)
    Rising Star (Rajendra 3)
    Bloody Crestwaves (Thoros 4)
    The Protectorate (Tamar 3)
    Tamar the Builder (Tamar 4)
    Not sure which scenarios are your favorite, but would love to hear your take ;)
    And also, at some point, please place The Mountain Royals campaigns on the campaign tier list ;)

  • @inductivegrunt94

    It took me 3 tries, 3 whole tries, to get that achievement for this level. First time I went north to the first base, then south to the next base, then west to take that city before taking down both Blue and Green before the timer ran out where I missed 2 supply depots. Second time I (having used the post game return to map to find the depots) moved faster and built a second army to deal with Green, but I still failed because I couldn't take down Blue's TC fast enough. Third try was when I realized my mistake, I built Pikemen when I should have stuck to cavalry to the depots and cities and Blue, so I tried it again and got all objectives with only around 7 minutes left on the timer.
    That achievement frustrated me but was so satisfying to get, and the final battle was really fun and interesting, I chose to have the Armenians help me as they were always there for Tamar since the beginning of the campaign, and I really like sieging the Persians and knocking down each castle one by one until achieving victory.

  • @TheAireaidLord
    @TheAireaidLord 6 месяцев назад

    Best strat I found was to go for the western-most persian town and convert the elephants there to help you out with the other towns. Blue is also closeby so trebing their TC doesn't take long. However, I was only ever able to do 1 or the other (kill green or kill blue). I either don't have enough soldiers or everybody is too far north to kill the other. I have to imagine there's a way. It didn't hurt me too much in the final battle - I spammed castles near my army and converted over 30 elephants lmao. Combinded with halbs heavy cav archer menopauses (lol) it was quite the army and very rewarding to trample over everything.
    Also I appreciate the georgians telling me to GETYOUASS and get DATASS throughout this campaign. so cheeky of them

    This one was hard. I only managed to liberate the four Persian cities, pillage three supply deposit sites and took on Ghorid's Fortress by taking on one castle most of the buildings, but failed to take out the final castle before the timer ran out. As for the rest of the scenario, it was a long battle since most of the enemies constantly attacked, but it took a while to simply systematically take them out.

  • @gebhard128
    @gebhard128 7 месяцев назад +5

    I took the ressources for the final battle, you get a huge bank and spam monaspas, halbs and cav archers forever with some eco added behind. I wonder about your low usage of CA btw, they only miss thumbring and felt really helpful against halbs and as DPS behind my monaspa

    One advice, anyone who wants to max this scenario, start with the northern city, then the Turkomans, then go around in an anti clockwise manner, and keep 6 - 7 monks for the westernmost city. And, destroy every single building of the Ghurids, including towers, else the Auxiliary forces will be way too large. In the final battle, train Monaspa/Halb/Monk. Your monks can convert their eles in the initial battle, and keep on converting eles/Imp camels to have an easier time, sine youll have ~10 relics from blue

    Really enjoyed this DLC. Tamar was my favorite overall, best story line and scenario design/variation. Loved Thoros for being the only challenging campaign and Ismail for its post-imp ele/savar deathball.
    I have two major gripes though.
    1. Hero upgrade mechanics - why did the devs skip one of the coolest mechanics in the game? Why are there no hero upgrade triggers like Jadwiga/Rajendra? Personally thought Tamar would be perfect for this.
    2. Difficulty - Ismail/Tamar on hard are way too easy. Thoros is the only challenging campaign and should be the base line for a campaign on hard. Ismail is way too easy the second you have eco for savar/eles and Ornlu just showed how easy Tamar 5 is (easily smashing the time challenge and surviving a ele/savar/camel death ball with like 3 monks). Don’t nerf Thoros further, increase the difficulty on the other two.

      @KroM234 7 месяцев назад +5

      You didn't like it but calling it "poor" is a little bit far stretched, it ticks all boxes of a great campaign, the scenarii concepts were all great, and it feels easier than it should be mostly due to bugged Monaspas' attack. Also, AOE2 at the moment has such a canyon between players' skill levels, that it is basically impossible to fit all players' expectations with only 3 difficulty settings. If you're a regular custom campaign player, of course you'll have a stroll even on Hard, but for the average player, Hard can feel pretty challenging already. If only 5% of your player base manages to play a campaign on Hard it's a problem.

Yet, for this alone i would only give 3/5 stars, because i was bored basically the whole time, even though i highly enjoy campaigns.
