Couple of things I noted should be corrected. When fitting the props, the conical washers go on top (with its flat side down onto the prop hub (so cone side up), then the nut - in this video it shows the conical washer being put on the prop adapter before the prop, and the nut being screwed directly onto the prop hub - very bad practise! the washer is there to spread the load across the entire width of the hub making the prop more securely attached and with less pressure evenly spread across the hub.
Secondly - calibrations for both RC and accelerometers: the video does not show RC calibration or even sub-trim adjustment to ensure the centre points are registering so on the flight controller - this is important to ensure the copter doesn't pitch, roll or yaw because the FC doesn't know the sticks are centred. I would say even for a maiden/test flight this is essential. Also, what about accelerometer calibration. If its someone's first build then they will be flying initially in a stabilised mode (accel supported), so would suggest calibration of accelerometers to ensure the KK2 knows when the craft is level.

great vid just to mention this is a kit from hobby king as i just bought this same kit from hobby king used there esc 30 amp and there motors turnigy aerodrive 2830 ,,the good news is theres an upgraded version of the kk2 board its called the k22-1 its approx about the same money more stable and less soldering as there are built in plug ins now on the board you can update the firm ware on the computer if you need a more radical 3d flight but this works great out of the box as is thanx

Yes your right Dans, this quad isn't really designed for lifting that sort of camera, your camera is around 660 grams so would be recommending a Hexa frame to get a good lift and stability.
Contact us if you need any more info!

Please check the way up on the bottom plate - I believe it must be the other way up with the solder pads underneath. This is especially important if a Multiwii flight controller (or any flight controller with a magnetometer) is used as the ground plane on the base will screen the board from interference from the positive rail. It also makes replacing an ESC much easier without having to remove the board.

Loving this vid till 18:57 when a few wiring processes were skipped, as a beginner to quad copters and purchasing this frame this video is brilliant, i just hope i figure it out, buying the parts each week as funds are low at the moment but looks a really good project and cant wait to sit down with my solder iron and get stuck in

Something you should mention to your viewers is that if you leave you iron on the PCB to long that it WILL damage the board. 3 to 5 seconds is good with 7 seconds being max. Thats if your not using a thermal shunt. If you are, then have at it.

The kk2 flight control board needs to be on the top of the frame, the way this was set up you would have to disassemble the frame every time you need to make PID adjustments during flight set up

Tan Jing Jie If you understand the basics of how a quadcopter flies, you will know, why it's important to have the motors spinning in anti clock wise and clock wise.

  • @DjHossonthedecks
    @DjHossonthedecks 11 лет назад

I maybe wrong but I'm pretty sure this particular one wouldn't lift all that, if you check their eBay shop though, they do another version which is a bit more powerful and comes with a camera mount, so maybe worth E-Mail them with the weight of the camera to get some ideas... But I suspect you'd need a hexacopter for something that size.

does the size of the wires that you solder to the board for the battery have to match the size of the wires that the battery has already. Like is it ok to have different size wires either size of the xt60 of do they have to match? My battery has 10 awg wire but I only have 14 awg lying around, will that do?

    Couple of questions:
    1) Receiver setup and connecting.
    2) When swapping ESC wires to correct reverse polarity you say swap any two wires. Does it have to be the two besides negative?

A big plus for taking your time and making the video. A big minus for the content. Right of the start, when soldering the battery connector wires, I started getting a feeling that the clip would not be worth watching. You MUST make it a rule to use different color wires for your power supply, and here you use the same black color wires. Then, motor installation. You just took any motor to screwed it to an arm. Which motor it is - CW or CCW - not a single word. You do get into the motor direction later on, but some motors come in sets - a pair with CW propeller holding nuts and a pair with CCW. The motors with the CW nuts must be rotating CCW, and with the CCW - rotating CW. So, the rotation direction must be established before installing the motors.

Does all your ESC's have BEC on them and if they do, then, is it true that your supposed to cut the small red wires on the ESC's on arms 2,3, and 4 because I heard that if you don't do this then it can cause problems on your flight controller. Can you confirm this for me? I would really appreciate the help thanks.

Recently built a 450 frame quad. All works but motors won't spin fast enough to take off. Using a Taranis Plus with X8R receiver and have throttle set to 150% and set max throttle in Mission Planner from default of 80 to 1000 and it still does not have enough power to take off. Any suggestions........and have calibrated ESC's and they work....but still not enough power to take off...??????

I didn't watch find this video until after my components had already been shipped to me in which I ordered simply by searching amazon for the specs I wanted. For instance, I just typed 450 quad, 1000kv motors/30a esc....long story short it ended up being almost identical to this kit you guys sell. Since I didn't purchase it from you, I just wanted to show appreciation for how much this tutorial helped me! I will be purchasing from you guys in the future. Anyways, I have a question: are there any links that you know of to guides on first flight calibration and further info on correcting the channels etc...for this particular build please. I have a spektrum dx5e and ar610 receiver. I am using the kk2.1 EVO.
