I have an Idea for the leftover chickpeas, you don't have to discard those, just soak them in just enough water to soften them and make falafel with them. I think it's a great idea.
Like so Gemma can see this.
Great idea, Mariam! I love falafel. Thank you for the suggestion. :)
This is exactly what I was abt u say.... Being from India.. we believe in minimum wastage of food.
We use chick pea flour to make something we call tomato omelette which is basically flour, finely chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillies and cilantro along with water and salt, not too thick not too thin. And then you cook it in a greased pan or a non greased non stick pan will also do, on a low flame. Its very healthy and delicious.
Gemma we were also raised with the mentality not to waste any food. I love that you encourage not to waste as well❤️ love from Edmonton,Canada
Gemma thx for the recipe. You are truly a amazing chef as you not only show your recipes but also create videos for the beginners. So thx for that.
Thanks so much gemma I just found out yesterday that I was gluten intolerant and I finally found the explanation to my pimples, fatigue, depression, weight, feeling like throwing up.thanks gemma I can always count on you
Hmm it would be lovely to watch you making something with that chickpea flour. ☺ I am Indian and it's called "besan" in Hindi. I love this flour and snacks made from it taste delicious. ☺☺☺💕

I love how your showing us the basics and how to make ingredients that can be hard to find at the store. Absolutely enjoyed this tutorial on different kinds of flour. It would be great if you could give a tutorial on how to make phyllo dough and any other pastry doughs.
This is an invaluable video Gemma. My Grandmother needs Gluten free, so this is perfect. Thanks for sharing. Lee x

Great video! I didn't know how easy it was to make these flours. Thank you!
Thanks so much, really glad you like them Ashley! 🙂
I have to try the chickpea flour, I myself find oat flour the easiest to make and use...I tried making my own rice flour and that went horribly wrong and tasted even worst lol. Someone else mentioned it and I also think it would be great to have a video that tells which flours work the best for different recipes for things like breads, cookies, muffins etc.
Thank you for this suggestion. this is such a broad subject. I will think about how best to tackele this one :)
Gemma Stafford I look forward to seeing what you come up with 😀
Yes and u don't want to ruin the blades
Thank you, thank you, thank you! My mum is coeliac and this is perfect

IKR! It's almost scary, LOL, but wonderful! I was just in the store @ two hr s ago looking at all the different flours and the prices. I didn't get anything. I thought to myself as I passed the pure vanilla extract, "No, you stay on the shelf, I've made my own. Hhmmm, I wonder if Gemma has a video for gluten free flour." I'm just getting a chance to check now, but I see she posted this about the time I was in the store.
Thanks, Gemma! 🙏

Hello.
Thank you. I didn't know that was so easy.
Your recipes are amazing thanks a lot making is amazing baking show
I'm incredibly jealous for your kitchenaid magnetic drive blender. Such a nice machine :D
Thank you ...this is so much helpful
This video was so helpful !! :D
yay gluten free flour! I tend to buy mine ready made, but for variety these are a good option.
Almond flour is actually made from blanched almonds. It also requires double grinding. First you grind them in a food processor or a blender (meal) and then in a coffee grinder to obtain fine grit (flour). That way you don't have any leftover course meal and no sieving necessary.
Nice tip, thanks!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!! Gemma, you have NO idea how useful this is. I just came across a recipe for paleo chicken fingers and it requires almond flour. I was thinking of making my own and BAM, you came through. I can't wait for your nut milk video. I'd like to make as much of my own food as possible. Thank you again!
Great, I am happy to hear that, happy that you are making everything from scratch too :)
Gemma Stafford Thanks, Gemm! I'm really trying!
I love you and your recipes
I love your channel!
Thank you so much Eva :)
Just a little tip for the chickpea flour:
Vegan scrambled "eggs" (I judt call it that because it really resembles that, but feel free to call it whatever you like).
Take some of the flour, the finer the better, and mix it with water to make a very liquid batter, it shouldn't be any thicker than pancake batter.
Season well with salt and whatever else you like, I like Indian style with chili, curry and some paprika. If you have it, add some black salt, also called Kala Namak. It has a sulfuric flavour which is very similar to actual eggs.
Heat up some oil in a pan and pour in the batter. Break it up a bit with a wooden spoon while cooking just like scrambled eggs. It does take longer to set up properly though. I like to add another splash of oil at the end to get crispy bits since the batter otherwise soaks up the oil from the beginning and gets a bit dry.
Serve anyway you like, in a whole grain pita, with loads of yoghurt, with a salad or however you like.
You can also sauté some veggies like mushrooms, onions etc first before adding the batter.
I have not had a craving for eggs since I didcovered this. It's so simple and yet very yummy.
So helpful!!
Super helpful!!
Hi Gemma!
I love you videos
I want to share..
you needn't discard chickpeas bits ....
1) You can wash, soak, drain and season them to make a salad
2) soak cook season for stuffing
3) soak cook add in to make vegetables, soups
😃
This is awesome because I just found out I'm gluten intolerant so this helps me alot

Hi Gemma! Your videos have been a huge help to me! I love all your videos
Came here to find out how to make almond flour, so that I can use it to make the frangipane recipe from your first book! Thanks, love!🙏❤️
Hope this was helpful!
Thanks for the recipe
You're welcome!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I posted in your forums a while ago about gluten free stuff. I never knew it would be this easy though. You're amazing :)
I have a food processor and nutribullet. I can't afford an expensive blender. I'm still going to try it. The chickpea flour sounds neat! Full of protein.
Loved it😘
thanks so much for the gluten free recipes😊
This was brilliant! I ran out of breadcrumbs & discovered I could use oatmeal which has no salt & healthier.
Thanks for your tutorial I appreciate it
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for being here.
You are welcome
Chick pea flower? wow I always learn something new when I watch your videos Gemma
That's great hope you do more gluten free recipes
You know Gemma, you can buy ready made chik pea flour from Indian grocery store. You left the skin on while grinding it. 'besan' is the word they use for it. Yellow gram or chikck peas are skinned and are split into two piece and then run through the mill. I don't know why but I think the skin may affect the quality of the flour.
yes it is available
abc defg dried nuts are soft, whereas chick peas are hard. Industrial scale millers also use split chick peas, they do not use the whole grain. However, if the shown blender is very good quality blades then I would not know. But, you will reduce the life of the blade if you process chick peas in blender.
viral patel .....thanks for that information.
abc defg okay
Some people say that grains contain some poisonous substances that is why you need to soak them in water first for 24 hours ,dry them then grind them ..
Love your videos
Thanks a million!
Thx so much!! my family always uses almond flour, it's so expensive.
Send us some of your favorite recipes (info@biggerbolderbaking.com) :) :)
Omg thank you!! I am Gluten alergic.
I love your nails! 😊 absolutely beautiful
Thank you so much! :)
I asked for this a while ago so happy
Yes, I am happy to have this one up now, it was a huge request :)
Amazing...👍
Hi Gemma
I really liked this video and the mix is really healthy. Could you please share some more ideas for healthy floor for baking cakes as the commonly used while flour is not too healthy.
H ithere, you can use a mix of flours, whole wheat and white flour in many recipes. Do experiment a little :)
Thanks for sharing. Would love to see more gluten-free recipes...!
Will be working on this! :)
Simple solutions for my health 👍🏼
Glad this is helpful, Nat. Thank you for being here.
I’ve been making almond milk but I soak the almonds overnight to take the husks off and then I use whatever bits that are left for flour but I spread it out and let it dry out in the oven and then let it cool and blend to a fine flour
It's so nice u mentioned what can be done with what is left after sieving. In your DIY cream cheese tutorial u did not mention what can be done with the juice after sieving out the cream cheese. Am good @ making my cream cheese now but i always feel sad throwing away my juice. A tutorial on what it can be used for will be appreciated
Great Video Thanks
Sure thing!
thanks for given variety in gluten free flours ,I didn't know chic peaflour or besan as we in India call it was gluten free
I just love your videos...Can u please make a video on maple syrup....like how can we use it, recipes, etc..
i would love to see your version of oatmeal pancakes
Love the oatmeal flour pancakes, it’s the best pancakes I make it all the time,
Hey Gemma.....Most homes in India do not have an oven... If you could show how to bake a cake without a proper oven... Or how to create oven like thing at home and bake a basic cake .... That would be just fabulous......ur substitute videos have being a life saver for us from India whr some ingredients are not so common.. Lee
YesI am begining to understand that ovens are not a common feature of indian homes, so much cooked on heat, rather than in heat. Cakes depend on a regular, consistent heat in order to bake, I think I would be very rich if I could invent a way to bake a delicate cake without an oven. Traditionally in India I think they would have used clay ovens, usually outside, for bread making? Perhaps these are still used, and some people will be able to tell you how cakes were made in the past. You can also 'steam' a cake, like a pudding, in a sealed bowl in simmering water. Check out my slow cooker recipes here (www.biggerbolderbaking.com) :)
I luv you ND your recipes.... Luv from India ❤️♥️😍
Gemma love u,ur recipes nd ur channel sis....u r always sweet and special.....thanq for ur great efforts..... 💜💜
Nice video, the almond flour that you made is actually almond meal which have denser texture then almond flour which is lighter, even when you cook with both you will notice the difference. Almond flour is blanched first then you remove the skin, let it dry then you blend.
oat flour is my favourite! i use it for everything!!😍
I do too, I discovered it by accident tho.I was curious and I added a few cups of old fashion oats to my vitamix and that's all I use now for my banana bread, or anything I'm baking
Can it be used for cakes ?
with chickpeas flour I cook so delicious sweets like soft very soft cookies they are sweet and delicious
Thanks Gemma :)
thank you , thank you , thank you for that almond flour
I love you Gemma
Thanks Gemma, this is so helpful! Do you have a blend that you use as a 1:1 for for regular flour?
that's awesome
Now I can crave all those gluten free foods 😀😀
Gemma can these be used to substitute regular flour in all recipes or do they need specific measuring ?
Hey, Gemma. Love your channel, thnx for your work ) Will you make any recipes with these gf flours? I'm especially interesting in chick pea flour recipe. Thnx in advance ;)
