Wow this was so considerate of you to consider people who live in countries where they can't find this or it's just too expensive. Thank you so much. This made me your fan :)
I like ur way of teaching homemade recipes to people who really need to know about these basic, easy and wonderful methods of creating something new from just one ingredient only. It's really incredible. I"ll also try some of these.
Thank you Gemma! I just made this without sugar and it's great for me because I have to watch my sugar intake, so it is a great option! I can enjoy the texture of the whipped cream without it being too sweet. I also tried adding this to coffee and it tastes amazing!

Gemma thank you for providing vegetarian alternative to gelatin, which the "other" video did not. I had seen that video before and wondered what else might work well. I have not played around with gelatin substitutes to know which and how much works best in different applications. Been avoiding anything containing gelatin for so very long, and want to try making some of them with a substitute, decided recently to purchase have agar agar but have not used it yet! Now thank goodness heavy cream is available here (how sad I feel for those who can't get it, so yummy!), but for those who need this, another informative (and thoughtful for Veg) video from BB! Thanks Gemma!!
A few months ago I made a cheesecake out of this and OMG, I made a very small one just in case it didn't turn out well and I regretted it, I'll make a bigger one tomorrow

I had to also keep an ice water bath while beating. care to throw some light regarding the same? however at the end I got a perfectly whipped cream.
Hi there, the problem with this is that it cannot ever be real whipped cream, it is a substitute, a jellied milk as it were. It is not for anyone who can get real fresh dairy cream. So, I am not sure why your one would not whip up for you, this works for me. I am sorry :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH, I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS RECIPE THAT HAS A SUBSTITUTE FOR GELATIN. because in my country it's hard to find it. thanks again, love you
I actually get requests for substitutes quite often. This is not meant to be a substitute for whipped cream in ice cream or baked recipes. It’s used more as a side or topping to desserts.
I just tried it, but I added a 1/2tbs of corn starch(don't know why). It resembled whipped cream but you could tell it was gelatin based. I liked it. In a pinch, you could sub this for whipped topping.
Hi Gemma, thank you for this video! Regarding agar agar, I was told that it must be boiled first in order to be activated (to set when it cools down). Is that true? Would it really work if I don’t boil it first and just add the agar agar powder to the cold milk? I really need your advice on this! I would like to make a nice desert this weekend! Thank you kindly in advance!!!
Hi Jay, my understanding is that there are different forms of this. One form needs to be boiled, and used as you say. There is also an instant type, but I do not know how widely it is available. Carrigeen Moss is a similar thing, as is China Grass, ask in your store :)
I do remember asking you awhile ago about how I can use milk to make substitute whipping cream. Thanks a lot Gemma, will definitely try it as soon as I pick up some gelatin from my supermarket.
Hi Fareena. Note that this will not work in my ice cream recipe, or recipes that require heavy whipping cream. This is used more as a side or topping to desserts and cakes. I hope this helps.

It will not work in my ice cream, butter or buttercream frosting recipe. The cream which I use for most of my recipes is fresh dairy cream. This needs to be at least 35% fat content to whip well. This is from cows milk. It is a liquid product found in the chill cabinet in your store. It will spoil in a few days, even when refrigerated. These are good for some applications, but they are not fresh cream. I am sorry, it cannot be actually made!
I wanted to make her ice cream with the whipped cream but that she said "But you can't use this in any of my ice cream recipes," , and I almost cried 😞😞😞

@@biggerbolderbaking too bad whipping cream is expensive too, just that compared to the price of gelatine, it's so much cheaper if I were to make this recipe
Unfortunately not. This alternative works for certain recipes only. You will need fresh dairy cream to make it usable for cake decorating. Here's my guide for that www.biggerbolderbaking.com/whipped-cream/
No it will fall donw even u can't use it on shakes bcz i tried it yesterday u can use it as pudding or in mousse . But no doubt it was tasty to eat . So yeah it was not a watse
The only thing that work for cakes, icecreams or shakes is only real whipping cream not homemade one😅 now i don't trust anyother recipe bcz i tried all
> ¼ cup (2oz / 60g) full fat milk, cold
> 2 teaspoons (1 sachet) unflavoured powdered gelatin or agar agar
> 1 cup (8oz / 240g) full fat milk, cold
> 2 tablespoon confectioners sugar

You're lucky to have cream available. It is not always so in many places.
@@biggerbolderbaking too bad whipping cream is expensive too, just that compared to the price of gelatine, it's so much cheaper if I were to make this recipe
Hi, Gemma!
Thank you for your lovely recipes. Just wanted to ask, can this whipped cream be used to decorate cakes?
Unfortunately not. This alternative works for certain recipes only. You will need fresh dairy cream to make it usable for cake decorating. Here's my guide for that www.biggerbolderbaking.com/whipped-cream/

I love your accent its just 😍😍🖤 you're Scottish right I feel like you are accents are so pretty, weird but in a good nd unique way😍
Irish through and through! Thank you for watching. :)
can I whip it in blender plzz???
A hand whisk will do for this. It is a set milk, and will not be real cream, but a good alternative for some occasions :)
