It smells amazing! 😍 Update: Oh my God, Gemma! That’s the best thing I have ever put in my coffee in all my life. Used full fat, organic milk and good quality sugar. Thank you!

(forgetting all I need is milk and sugar..LOL) When I made it I was so astonished. It was very easy and very tasty. I didn't even need to use it in any of my cooking because it is great by itself(i know this may be bad..but come on can you blame me :) Thanks Gemma!

I tried this with coconut milk at home and it came out perfectly well! I could tell because it looked just the way you'd described it (light brown, thick, reduced in volume by half, exactly 8 fl oz) and my dessert (in which I used this finally) turned out delicious :) Thanks for this useful recipe! It's easier than I had imagined!

This is excellent. This was also my first time trying it, actually, my first time trying to make any kind of dessert except for a cake/brownie out of the box. I'm trying to make a dessert that calls for sweetened condensed milk, and of course I don't have any. The one thing I would want to add to Gemma's advice; if you have a flat-top stove make sure your pan sits flat and not able to wobble around as mine did. I was so tempted to stir the milk because the simmer point in my pan was restricted to a very small area while the rest of the milk was not at a small simmer. By the time I noticed that was happening it was too late to switch pans. I never noticed how some of my pots and pans weren't totally flat until I got that stove. :)
Hi Gemma! I wanted to ask 2 questions and I would be pleased if you could answer them. 1.What happens if the milk starts to boil (for about 7minutes), but you put it to a simmer? 2. How long can it simmer for? Is 40 minutes the maximum? Or it can boil longer? Because mine has been simmering for 50 mins and it is still liquidy and whitish :/ THANK YOU!
I didn’t want to go to the store. Decided to see if someone had an easy way to make it. Perfect. Thanks! Mixing this with half and half for my coffee creamer!

I've seen other videos that say to constantly stir if the heat is too high as it'll curd at the bottom up. Could also be that the milk is going sour. Sour milk will turn solid when heated.
Just take some normal liquid cream and mix it with a robot until it looks like whipped cream, you can also add some vanilla extract or some vanilla sugar. its really easy but it takes a bit of time if you dont have a robot
+no t cool The heavy cream is expensive. I tried whipping some chilled all purpose cream once since this is the only affordable cream, but it started melting after awhile. Didn't really work, so I avoid recipes which use whipped cream (which is a lot). :/

Are there certain brands or ingredients you should avoid when making this with nut milks? Like, stabilizers for example, that make it not thicken properly?
I made this exactly how you did in the video. And it took almost 2 hrs to get this way. Not 35 minutes. I had it at a little less than medium heat. What did I do wrong?
Good question! Did your milk get to a gentle simmer? It is inevitable that this milk will condense given the right ingredients and the correct temperature. Confidence seems to help too. If the temperature is too low then that will not happen.

This was excellent! And I recommended to my friends too. In fact this was much better than the store bought ones. My only concern is the texture was slightly like curd and not very smooth. What do you think could be the reason?
Thanks.
I've seen other videos that say to constantly stir if the heat is too high as it'll curd at the bottom up. Could also be that the milk is going sour. Sour milk will turn solid when heated.
Hello Gemma Stafford, recently knew that i am diabetic and my question is can i make condensed milk with stevia or other kind of sweetner?
Yes, it says on her site
But why is her voice so nice to listen to😂😍
Delicious. It's impossible to break away.
Probably a silly question but..... can I use almond milk for this ?
No silly questions! If you want to go dairy-free, use coconut. www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-dairy-free-condensed-milk/
I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for asking
Whipping cream is extremely expensive in my country. Can you please make a video on how to make a homemade version of it please? :)
Just take some normal liquid cream and mix it with a robot until it looks like whipped cream, you can also add some vanilla extract or some vanilla sugar. its really easy but it takes a bit of time if you dont have a robot
+Bhawna03 Is it the heavy cream that is expensive or the actual finished whipped cream?
+Bhawna03 I will see what I can do. Stay tuned :)
+no t cool The heavy cream is expensive. I tried whipping some chilled all purpose cream once since this is the only affordable cream, but it started melting after awhile. Didn't really work, so I avoid recipes which use whipped cream (which is a lot). :/
+Gemma Stafford Yay! Thank you so much!! :)
I just want to make condense milk because I like to drink it
Thank you. Husband is a diabetic so I will try making it with Swerve in place of cane sugar. I will let you know how it goes.
I'm curious....

You LOOK SOOO PRETTY AND YOU ARE SO AMAZING
Aw thank you!
Are there certain brands or ingredients you should avoid when making this with nut milks? Like, stabilizers for example, that make it not thicken properly?
I recommend using any high quality ingredients you have access to. Less is more, so read your ingredient labels. Hope this helps :)
@@biggerbolderbaking Hi, Have you tried using the instant pot? Maybe using the yogurt setting.
Try adding milk powder, it'll speed up the process.
This is so good, tbh you have inspired me to become a baker when i grow up

Wanted to make a pizookie with ice cream. Didn’t have chocolate syrup, watched how to make that at home. Didn’t have ice cream, watched another video. And then again don’t have condensed milk and here I am. I hope I don’t need to look at another recipe, or I’ll end up not making it. 😅

+Ruby Lewin You absolutely can make this condensed milk using dairy free milks such as nut milks and coconut milk. Here is the recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-dairy-free-condensed-milk/ :)

Hi Bold Bakers!
I really hope you like the first of many Bold Baking Basics. For a DAIRY FREE CONDENSED MILK go to www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-dairy-free-condensed-milk/ . it is made the exact same way, just using coconut milk. You can also use other nut milks like almond and cashew.
Stay Tuned for Thursday BBB because there is a brand New No Machine Ice Cream Video including Starbucks Frappuccino and Cereal Milk Ice Cream.
Gemma xx.
How long does it last and how do I store it if I use coconut milk?? :)
+Annika Helgesson Months and Months. keep it in the fridge in a jar and make sure you lable it so you remember what it is :)
+Gemma Stafford Oh how great!! Thank you so much. :)
Would I be able to use almond milk?
Can it be like any type of milk? Like coconut milk or almond milk.
well you can use regular sugar in ice cream from my experience, but you also have to use a substitute for condensed milk by taking 1 tbl spoon of milk powder and 3 tbl spoon of water.i made vanilla ice cram this way and it came out just perfect! it was creamy, not too sweet and tasted amazing! so if you dont have condensed milk you can also make ice cream this way.hope this helped :)
Thank you for sharing.
