    I like videos like this that genuinely look at a lens for what its capable of and not completely destroy it for not hitting all the marks. Makes it feel realistic to why I would gravitate towards it, its decent and more for the general use. Something for the backpack. Just not the business standard if that makes sense.

    i unfortunately was unable to test this lens out to its fullest potential. when i ordered it the focus ring was not working. when i contacted support their main solution was to update the firmware. when i tried to do that i found out you can only update the firmware through windows systems which i dont have. ended up returning it because i didn't want the hassle and i also didn't like the flaring when a light source was in frame. but other than that i enjoyed the image it produced

    You’re right. Can’t let go of the fact that there’s no aperture ring. Without that you might as well get the Fuji XC 35mm f2 which is smaller,lighter, focuses closer, sharper at f2 than the TTartisan, is not a lot more expensive and also has no aperture ring 😁

    I'm very happy with their 27/2.8 AF, especially for the price that I got it for. And now I'm a bit more happy that I went with a 7Artisan 35/1.4 which was also 50EUR.

    Got it to have a beater lens for only $120 new! I wont let my precious Xf 35 1.4 get hurt 😅. This and their 27mm are pretty good on my old X-m1.

    I say just save up and buy a used 35mm F2 WR

    I don't see the sense in buying this lens when you can get the Fujifilm XC 35 f2 for around the same price and which is optically identical to the XF version .

    I have this lens. The "minimum" focus distance is really not good, it's very annoying.

  • @gpjennett9819
    @gpjennett9819 8 месяцев назад +1

    An 11mm extension tube with electrical contacts more than fixes the minimum focus distance. Folks are spoiled on the min focus thing. Leica lenses stop at 0.7m. 60cm is actually great.

      I guess if you compare it to the lenses with the farthest minimum focus distances out there, it is great! Haha, I would much rather my lens focus close by itself than have to incorporate an extension tube. It’s okay to recognize a lens’s weaknesses as well as its strengths.

    confused between 27 af vs 35 af. Which one would be better for in general photography? (I've a kit lens only)

    • @MattJacobs
      @MattJacobs  8 месяцев назад +1

      I would go 35 for the faster aperture

      Get the Viltrox 23mm.
      There's a reason that 23mm is the lens that's built into the x100v. It's the perfect jack of all trades focal length.

      also a good choice just a lil more expensive

      Just to confuse you a bit more, the 27 (either the TTArtisans or the Fuji one) is a good option because it's so small - it's much more convenient to carry around than the 35 or 23, especially on a small camera like the XE4. It's also a bit more flexible than 35, imo - I sometimes find 35 a bit too tight, and 23 a bit too wide, while 27 is usually just right.

    which would you prefer between this and the xc 35mm f2 of fuji? the 2nd hand price of xc35mm f2 is the same as this ttartisan bnew

      Tbh the XC 35mm is better all around

      @@MattJacobs thanks, i was looking for my first af prime lens because last year I bought a mf 25mm f2 but I'm having a hard time focusing on my x-a7 which does not have a view finder. just want a lens for better portrait shots

      I actually never see anyone compare this lens to the Fuji XC It's kind of weird to me
