Bought my D810 back in 2015 and never saw any reason to buy anything else (except a smaller X100F which I love too). I think you may have missed an important aspect of the older lenses that you can stick to the D810: it gives a really nice vintage look to your images, with some vignetting and sometimes imperfect focusing... which is much more charming than what you get with the almost perfect modern lenses. The D810 is definitely a keeper, I will never sell mine ! Thanks for your video. You should try the old and cheap 50mm 1.8 D lens on it!

personally i like the bokeh a lot more than a modern lens.

gonna use this for dslr scanning 35mm film. seems like a good option.

it is a very small (nearly pancake), manual lens for $64. Sure, it is a bit quirky ... but that's part of the fun!

I bought mine, the 10-24 f4 WR used as well and saved 25% of money comparing to a new one.

I think the camera does actually have some weather sealing.

Hi, I own a xt30 and I plan to make a change to xt3 for the bigger body and weather resistance. But I heard some people said that the xt3 has a really common problem with the battery that sometimes it reset all your camera settings and that’s a unexceptionable problem for me. Do you the same issue or any other issues with your xt3? My xt30 works perfectly fine.

I just got mine. I'm having a bit of trouble using it, like how to set the settings up and something like that, but hey that's what makes you understand it right, so yeah. I'm been doing a lot of research about the camera to be more familiar with the features.

I have a D810, swapped a Mirrorless Nikon for a D750. Sigma Art 40mm is best in tests & Sigma Art 28mm for daily use, wider. *Nikon Cameras can zoom to 100% by setting up the ok or another button

As a long time user of D810, I can tell you that using that camera for video shooting is like using an Abrams tank for grocery shopping. That camera is for stills - especially action shots such as birds in flight, sports, fast moving vehicles and indeed, air shows! It must be paired with Nikkor prime lenses for the best results. With its focus tracking feature, particularly if you have activated the back focus button (do a web search for that fascinating feature which only high end Nikon DSLRs offer), tracking two raptors dog-fighting 200 meters away would be a cinch. What many users of mirrorless cameras consider a disadvantage (the weight of the body), wildlife photographers see as an asset. The extra weight gives the body the much needed stability. Also, no mirrorless can replicate with its digital display the speed of a physical viewfinder. This camera (and the 850) will be in demand long after their production has ended.

Replaced 50mm with 28mm recently. Reason being the 50mm is too tight as an all-around lens

Yup, the af on this camera leaves a little to be desired as far as accuracy is concerned, even for when it was released. But depending on the type of photos one takes, it might not be a big deal. You can fine tune Nikon lenses in camera. Don’t know about the older Nikon or third party lenses. I own it for a little over 8 years now. Probably use it till it won’t function anymore. Probably get a new D850 or Z8 not take the loss on my F-mount lenses but would like to try the Sony & Canon line-up being their AF seems to be a little more accurate & easier to use, judging by reviewers. Happy shooting. PS; I have the pv button set for image preview which steps down the Aperture to what ever it set for plus, live view gives a decent idea of the exposure & can have a histogram display & highlight warnings.

Mine has terrible autofocus, which sometimes randomly stops working and even stops my camera buttons from working!

i used a d810 now im using the d850 im thinking of a d810 to back up my d850 ive had 2 z6,s hmmmm im back to my d850 !!

you can see trough the viewfinder with manuel lenses en look for the dot-and-arrows to focus!

I dont think the ttartisan lens is just a temporary until upgrade lense. Right now I have a Fuji 18mm f1.4 wr, Fuji 33mm f1.4 wr, Fuji 50mm f2, and Fuji 90mm f2. The reason I am wanting to get this lens(ttartisan 25mm f2), is because its NOT clinical. I am wanting an imperfect lens with some character.

With a flash like the SB-900, you can use its SU-4 optical slave mode, and have it as a remote triggered by the camera's pop-up flash.I'm doing this with my D600.

Okay that is insane.

I got weird problem with this lens, some photos come out like taken with a diffusion filter. Out of focus (focus is set absolutely properly) and background parts of the photographs is blurred especially in places where sunlight enters. I shot f/8 - f/11 Very weird 😮

on the D810, you can set the multiselector button to zoom in out. I press once to zoom in to 100% and again once to reset. it will centre the zoom wherever you put your focus point. No need to endlessly press the zoom in and out buttons. I literally never use those. You can set the button to zoom to 200% if you really want to punch all the way in and out.

If you look at the TTartisan version and the Fuji version, you will realize that they are the same exact lens. So, Matt didn't do his homework.

I own a Nikon D810 and I mostly use it for landscape photography. Since I'm new to photography, I don't know much about cameras (I only had a Nikon D300 before the D810), but it seems to me that my phone, both in raw mode, does a better job of capturing more accurate colors and smaller details in photo, such as a delicate and subtle haze. I am using high quality, professional grade lenses on the Nikon D810, which then makes me wonder: is it the fact that it is an older processor? Do newer processors do a better job of capturing color? (Again, I am talking only Raw mode here) Whatever, the case, I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanks

my d810 has a shutter count of 640k and ive seen much higher. So i wouldn't worry.

DO NOT USE plastic lens cap, looks ugly. But the metal screw in cap is acceptable

I was searching this video from my watched history because I was looking for a new lens and remembered watching a really well explained video of a rounded up lens collection a year ago, and wanted to watch it again. So I typed "lens" in the watched history search box, scrolled through the entire results, could not find this video. Weird, I thought, maybe "collection" would give me better results. Nope, gave me results with "collection" in the title of all kind of crap I had previously watched but not this one which I was looking for. Well ok, maybe the title didn't contain any of those keywords, so I went through 30 minutes of scouring all youtube channels to find this. Now I notice there is literally "lens collection" in the title, why didn't it show up in search?! Went back to the search history to do a scientific experiment. Indeed, it does not show this video for either "lens" or "collection" search terms (shows other videos with any of those words just fine), it only finds this video when searching for "lens collection". It was painful to notice, *youtube censors some of the search results as if you have never watched them*, if it thinks they are not relevant, even though the words appear in the very description of the video! For a moment I was doubting my own sanity there, but no, it's youtube search which is rigged. I think your channel is one of the best photography related on youtube, and I have always wondered why there are so few subscribers but how on earth there could be more if youtube boycotts your channel for some reason! I really really hate seeing something like this happening, it's just not fair. Sorry for a long rant in broken english, this is unbelievable trickery by youtube.
