I only apply sunscreen for my morning commute. 6:30am. Full faced helmet. Double visor. I dont reapply throughout the day since wala ako sa window side sa office. It breaks me out kpag i wear spf for extended hours. Works for me.
Thank you so much for this video, and for doing all the research you did! This was something I was wondering about (and actually stressing over) since I started working from home. My kitchen gets a lot of sun and I had low level anxiety about going in there mid day when the sun is blasting through the glass door. I finally bought blackout curtains for that room and from the information I got in this video, I think between applying adequate sunscreen in the morning and keeping the curtains closed when I'm in there during the sunniest parts of the day, I should be fine.

Windows only block UVB but not UVA. Ok lng yan, you can start sun protection now, may products naman that can - to a certain extent- repair and reverse the damage UV rays have caused 🙏🏻
Doc, do we have to wash our face upon reapplication of sunscreen? Or just overlap it lang? And is it okay to wash your face more than 2x a day if need be to reapply sunscreen as frequent?
In my opinion, ok lng to wash the face more than 2x a day basta using gentle cleanser especially in instances wherein pinag pawisan ka talaga or nadumihan ung face mo. Otherwise u can use a blotting paper or facial tissue to wipe your face off excess oil and dirt before reapplying sunscreen. Mas madali kc para sakin, ako i just re-apply using a compact powder with spf.
Thank you Dr. Gaile, this is really informative. But because of the mandatory wearing of mask, it looks like it decreases the sunscreen faster than without it. how about the cushion that provides Spf 15 only, is it sufficient as an alternative for the day? Thank you 😘
I agree! As evidenced by the part of my face in contact with the mask. And yes compact cushions with spf 15 can be used to re-touch or re-apply sun protection. I use a compact powder with spf 20. :)

depends on the situation, i would say if you were exposed to the outside environment, sweat a lot etc it would be best to wash your face prior to sunscreen reapplication, otherwise its ok to put a new layer.
Hi can you tell me about the potential risk of chemical sunscreens and ingredients like oxybenzone, homosalate, avobenzone and such ingredients...are they harmful for skin?

It depends if you sweat in between, if your masks rub off on the skin and if you are mainly indoors or outdoors. There is no harm in reapplying in between just to be sure. It;s very personalized. I, for instance, apply once at the start of my work (11am) and I dont reapply anymore, I get off from work at 6/7pm.
From what I know, ampoules refer to products that contain higher concentration of a particular ingredient. Some would say that it is a more potent serum, others think it is interchangeable with serum. You use it depending on the ingredients and your skin needs and issues.

Iam currently doing laser treatment for skin.So my doctor told me that it's not required to reapply sunscreen when indoors.Iam confused because,In online sites, videos many people say different things regarding this. So what is your opinion for this? Should I follow my doctor's routine or should I reapply sunscreen!
In my opinion, if you are indoors in an air-conditioned room or you did not sweat there is no need to re-apply. There was a study done in thailand that show sunscreens lasting up to 6-8 hours when indoors without application. But ultimately, its up to you. Theres no harm in reapplying.
thank you so much for the video..i have a question do you reapply sunscreen indoors when you wear a face mask and how (mist, stick, lotion)? because as i can see part of the product has been absorbed from the mask...moreover when you wear a face mask you sweat easily... thank you!!
It really depends on the conditions you are in when u are indoors. I tend to not reapply when I am just in the clinic since I am not directly exposed to the sun and my table is not by the windows.
@@irenegaile thank you for your answer...i am a school teacher so i am not only indoors.. but when you want to reapply sunscreen after wearing a mask ( either you are indoors or outdoors) is it a good choice to use sunscreen spray or lotion is better?
Dra. what can you advice about me who is so PICKY AND HESITANT to explore skin care products po? I am really frightened for the purging kasi or any reactions, naka-ilang readings na ako sa ingredients but then in the end, I won't try it pa rin, that's why until now I only have my go-to soap for the face only, and a cleanser (starts with letter E, ends with letter L), THEY ARE BOTH PINOY BRANDS ACTUALLY. I'm planning to start the sunscreen before it's too late and I don't really know what to buy. I think I really need to improve my routine na.
I suggest you seek the help of a dermatologist so that your skin can be assessed and you can make a guided decision on which products and ingredients to buy.
Hello, Beautiful 🌻 i just found your chanel and found you so informative that i subscribe immediately 😂 I used and re-apply sunscreen whenever i go out. I'm currently using a face lotion that contains alpha arbutin. Mostly i stay inside all day long. My window is closed and i used thik curtains. I don't even seat near window. Do i still need to wear sunscreen? Or i should apply sunscreen once in the morning and skip re-applying?
Hi doc ❤️ Im your avid fan with your videos and contents. I am also want to achieve a better and healthy skin. I always follow your contents and it really helps me alot. I just want to ask if the tinted sunscreen is still the same with normal sunscreen. Thank you in advance ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the support! Not all sunscreens are tinted, tinted sunscreens contain iron oxides that give added protection from visible light :) I recommend tinted sunscreens to those with darker skin types and those with existing pigmentation.
It's not something that I recommend as part of a normal daily routine. I advice my patients to ice after a resurfacing procedure or any other procedure that would benefit from icing to minimize inflammation. May I know what you are doing it for? :)

Hmmm... You can try AHAs (glycolic, lactic), PHAs (gluconolactone) but best to consult a dermatologist so your skin can be properly assessed and be given the appropriate recommendations.
Hello Doc. New subscriber here. Can you also make a video about when and how to apply sunscreen for call center agent or for those people who works night shift. Thank you!
Yes but best paired with skin lightening ingredients like kojic acid, arbutin, licorice, niacinamide, azelaic acid etc and sun protection -- protective clothing, seeking shade etc
Hello Doctor!! I get the importance of wearing sunscreen on your face indoors, is it necessary to apply sunscreen on the exposed parts of your body if you’re staying indoors all day? And if so, is it necessary to reapply?
Thank you so much po doc! I broke out po kasi for I dont know, maybe because of my new sunscreen or my oil cleanser. Out of stock na kasi sa lahat ng stores yung axis y sunscreen ko so i tried a new one. Nakalimutan ko po kasing magbulk order. Siguro kailangan ko na lang maghanap ng bagong sunscreen na hindi na kailangan ng oil cleanser. Hehe. Pero thank you so much po doc!
And by the way po Im leaning towards the isntree hyaluronic watery sun gel. Just for info lang po doc baka may comments kayo about this sunscreen. Lagi po kasi akong nagmamadali sa morning kaya I often use sunscreen na moisturizer na rin po. Thank you so much po ulit!
It is said that seb derm can be triggered by several things -- stress, change in weather, proliferation of a commensal fungus in the skin. Moisturizers can help by strengthening the skin barrier. But best to still have a proper consultation to better understand your skin and skin condition :)
Uv index around this time is usually low, if you wont be exposed to the sun for a very long time, you can probably get away with not putting on sunscreen, but if you will be outdoors for an extended period of time, it would be better if you apply sunscreenx
It’s good na concerned ka dn sa skin on your body. Marami kc - including myself- minsan nakaklimutan yan. Same as how youbcare for your face - use gentle cleansers, moisturize after bathing, you may exfoliate occasionally and use sun protection (sunscreen and protective clothing). Pag d ka naman nag papaaraw mag lilighten ung skin color mo but u may opt to add lightening lotions in addition to sun protection :)
Doc, how about a dose of sunscreen? is it 2mg/cm2? 1/4 tsp for face only? 2 fingers long for face and neck? is 1 finger long for the face and 1 finger long for the neck correct? can you practice it in the next video for each type of sunscreen (water based, lotion, oil, etc. to cream based)? Thank you in advance 🙏
I have a video where I show how I use sunscreen. The 2-fingers long methos is just an estimate, as long as you cover your face adequately that should be ok. You may also layer sunscreens if desired :)

Walang water-proof sunscreen, only water-resistant. Most sunscreens naman now are water-resistant dn, best to check the label if you want to make sure.

I will see how I can make content about allergies. But the best way to treat your allergies is via a proper consultation with a dermatologist because it’s very personalized :) anything can be an allergen to anyone, meron lng iba na mas nakaka cause more than others :)

Yey doc! Thanks for this po napaka informative 🥰
You’re welcome! Thank you din! ☺️☺️☺️
Hoping that I can consult with you Dra. Gaile, see you soonnnn💞
Yes, see you soon! :)
@@irenegaile
Thankyou dok🥰 very Informative
You;re welcome and thanks din!
thank you so much for the video..i have a question do you reapply sunscreen indoors when you wear a face mask and how (mist, stick, lotion)? because as i can see part of the product has been absorbed from the mask...moreover when you wear a face mask you sweat easily...
@@KKatia-nk2gf for the face I prefer to use compact powder with spf or a lightweight cream-based one for my face. For my body I prefer the spray.
Hello doc, I shaved my head. I want to ask if I should also put sunscreen on my head. If yes, is it alright to place sunscreen (for body)? Thank you.
Yes and yes. If you dont want to out sunscreen, wearing a hat is another option :)
I am Indian and brown skinned and use spf 50 sunscreen 🧴.
Yay :)
Which sunscreen did you use Dra? Chemical or physical? Thanks!
Most of my sunscreens contain a mix of both physical and chemical sunscreens and iron oxides (tint) :) And I have A LOT of different sunscreens.
Dra. what can you advice about me who is so PICKY AND HESITANT to explore skin care products po?
Hello, Beautiful 🌻 i just found your chanel and found you so informative that i subscribe immediately 😂
I used and re-apply sunscreen whenever i go out.
I'm currently using a face lotion that contains alpha arbutin. Mostly i stay inside all day long. My window is closed and i used thik curtains. I don't even seat near window. Do i still need to wear sunscreen? Or i should apply sunscreen once in the morning and skip re-applying?
thank you po doc gail, learned a lot from this video 🙂
Yay! Thanks too!
Hi doc review retinols from South Korean brands thanks.
How to reapply sunblock upon makeups when you're outdoors and using rerinols or tretinoin cream?
You can use a compact powder with SPF :)
@@irenegaile thanks so much for your advice 🙏🙏
Thank-you so much!

Doc i'm your new subsriber. 😚 I have a question is it okay to apply ice twice a day? Day and before you sleep?
It's not something that I recommend as part of a normal daily routine. I advice my patients to ice after a resurfacing procedure or any other procedure that would benefit from icing to minimize inflammation. May I know what you are doing it for? :)

Hi doc! Good day po, do you have your own products po ba or nagsusuggest po kayo products from the market?
I don't make my own products, I have some in my clinic but all the medications I prescribe can be bought outside.
Hello Doc! How many times should i apply sunscreen in 1 day?
Depends on what you are doing during the day. For instance, if youre outdoors every 2 hrs, if you are sweating/swimming every hour. etc.
Hi doctor What is the best skin acid for removing dead skin cells and hyperpigment skin
Hmmm... You can try AHAs (glycolic, lactic), PHAs (gluconolactone) but best to consult a dermatologist so your skin can be properly assessed and be given the appropriate recommendations.
Salysilic acid or glycolic acid what is best for remove dead skin layer
@@Mohamed-ue8jh ruclips.net/video/cJ63li7WzvE/видео.html
@@irenegaile i watched that video but im still confused
Then salicylic acid does not help to remove dead skin layer of the skin
@@Mohamed-ue8jh both are exfoliants hence both help slough off (remove) the top layer of the skin. SA is recommended more for those with oily skin.
Hyy here ....i only apply sunscreen on 8:45..after i will go to clg ..and i apply when I came back to home at 5 ..... Is it ok .....plzz tell me....
you dont need to reapply at 5pm as the sun is not that strong anymore, unless sunset is much later in your country
Hello Doc. New subscriber here. Can you also make a video about when and how to apply sunscreen for call center agent or for those people who works night shift. Thank you!
Good idea :) skin care routine na cguro for nightshift :)
Hello doc i just want to ask wearing sunscreen daily reduce melalin level after several months as i have dusky skin tone and wanted to be fairer 😬
Yes but best paired with skin lightening ingredients like kojic acid, arbutin, licorice, niacinamide, azelaic acid etc
and sun protection -- protective clothing, seeking shade etc
@@irenegaile please recommend me sunscreen that has all of these
Should you wash your face before reapplying sunscreen?
I normally dont anymore but if you got sweaty and dirty, yes i recommend washing
Hello Doctor!! I get the importance of wearing sunscreen on your face indoors, is it necessary to apply sunscreen on the exposed parts of your body if you’re staying indoors all day? And if so, is it necessary to reapply?
If there is no sun, then you dont have to apply sunscreen
how to check effectiveness of spf lotions at home? Thanks doc.
hard to do that without the right tools, best to just use a brand you trust
Hello po Doc, currently taking isotretinoin 10 mg. .Is it OK to used hello glow 3-in -1 Sun Care Gel?
Thanks po Doc 😊
Hello doc ❤
Do i need to wear sunscreen when I'm all day inside my room. There no direct sunlight, windows are closed and has curtains.
nope :) if theres no sun no need for sunscreen
What if we wash our face in the afternoon even though being indoors,is it recommended to reapply after washing?
Late in the afternoon no need na
thank u much po...very helpful ung imformation nyo...ask ko lang po safe po ba mag lagay sa eyelids at under eyes ng sunscreen...God bless po
Yes wag kalimutan ang eye area :) ingat lng na wag mapunta sa loob ng eyes kc it can irritate the eyes :)

I have oily skin, so should I wash my face before reapplying or you have any tricks?
Hi po Doc! Tanong ko lang po kung kailangan pa pong mag oil cleanse using non water resistant, mineral sunscreen? Thank you po doc in advance!
Tingin ko kaya na yan ng regular cleanser mo :) but if you experience breakouts better mag double cleanse. If hindi naman ok na ung 1 cleanser lng :)
Thank you so much po doc! I broke out po kasi for I dont know, maybe because of my new sunscreen or my oil cleanser. Dati po kasi wala akong oil cleanser kasi natatanggal yung sunscreen ko agad using my cerave. Pero po ngayon hindi na, kaya napagamit po ako ng oil cleanser.
Hi doc, good day po, does moisturizer helps prevent sebderm po ba?
It is said that seb derm can be triggered by several things -- stress, change in weather, proliferation of a commensal fungus in the skin. Moisturizers can help by strengthening the skin barrier. But best to still have a proper consultation to better understand your skin and skin condition :)
@@irenegaile thank you doc!
Do we need to apply sunscreen at 6 am in the morning?
Uv index around this time is usually low, if you wont be exposed to the sun for a very long time, you can probably get away with not putting on sunscreen, but if you will be outdoors for an extended period of time, it would be better if you apply sunscreenx
Thank you doc🥰
You're welcome! :)
My dr suggested screl sunsreen cream for me at 8 am 11 am and 2 pm .how to use this? In each time can i wash it my face before sunsreen??
Your doctor has seen your face so better trust him/her :)
unrelated but what age should i start using retinol? my mom has a 0.1% one!! i am 16 with oily-normal combination skin po thank you!!
Retinol is an anti-aging ingredient, which I recommend to individuals aged 25 and over :)
Thank u maam 🤗🌿 really you skin is good maam
Oh, thank you, that’s very nice of you!
Is this different if I am using a chemical sunscreen? I assumed chemical sunscreen stopped working after a period of time?
Same for all types of sunscreens :)
Hi po ulit doc, ask ko lang po kung okay gamitin na soap yung Dr sensitive yung may niacinamide plus salicylic acid.
For what? to wash the face or body? ok lng naman if your skin is ok with it, but if drying cya best to switch to gentle cleanser :)
Pag d ka naman nag papaaraw mag lilighten ung skin color mo but u may opt to add lightening lotions in addition to sun protection :)
do we need to reapply tinted sunscreen throught out the day?
I answered this question in the video :)
Yes, please make video about thr study outdoors :)
I want to! :) thanks for the encouragement!
Hello doc, how about if your working spot is beside the window po? Lalo na ngayon pandemic WFH. Thanks po
If pinagpapawisan ka, best to reapply and if you’re exposed for more than 4 hours
Doc does benzoyl peroxide cancel spf?
No :)

hi doc should i wash my face when re applying sunscreen?
It depends on the situation. If you worked out, were outdoors, sweat a lot, yes I recommend washing your face. Otherwise you can just reapply sunscreen again. I often use a compact powder with SPF to reapply sunscreen when I need to.
Mam,i have to cook daily..i dont want to burn my skin in gas stove thats why i recently buy a induction stove..is it necessary to apply sunscreen during cooking in induction cooker???
For me no, but it might help to cool the skin from time to time if you cook for a long time and to not stay to close to the cooker
Hi, Doc. Water-proof po ba ang ginamit mong sunscreen? Does it matter po ba if water-proof or not water-proof?
Walang water-proof sunscreen, only water-resistant. I think important cya if you are exposed/outdoors most of the time, engage in activities that make you sweat or when you are at the beach or are swimming. Most sunscreens naman now are water-resistant dn, best to check the label if you want to make sure.
