  • Ive talked about sunscreens so many times in my channel and for sure
most of us already know by now the importance of sun protection and how to properly use sunscreens and what kind to choose for our skin type and skin issues.
In this video I try to answer one very common question I've been getting a lot these days: Do I NEED to RE-APPLY sunscreen when INDOORS?
Let mw know your thoughts, questions, comments or suggestions below!
This video serves to educate and give information about anything related to skin and skincare and shall in no way take the place of a proper consultation with an expert, such as a board-certified dermatologist.

Reapplying sunscreen every two hours, not just when out but also indoor, is insane. Not only does it cost a lot, but is also very impractical. But this was suggested by number of dermatologists on RUclips. Thank you for informative video. I want to take care of my skin but don't want my life to revolve around it. I don't think that's healthy.

Thank you so much for this informative video! As a student it is impossible to justify reapplication every 2 hrs when you're inside most of the day. Thank you so much for this video, and for doing all the research you did! This was something I was wondering about (and actually stressing over) since I started working from home. My kitchen gets a lot of sun and I had low level anxiety about going in there mid day when the sun is blasting through the glass door. I finally bought blackout curtains for that room and from the information I got in this video, I think between applying adequate sunscreen in the morning and keeping the curtains closed when I'm in there during the sunniest parts of the day, I should be fine.

Thank you so much for this video. I stay home most of the time due to the pandemic so it's good to know that I don't have to reapply them every 3 hours. I'm a student so in case I go back to school, reapply after 2 or 3 hours somehow annoys me a bit. I have to go to the bathroom where tons of girls gossiping and asking nonstop why I use sunscreen so much. I don't hate using sunscreen but I just don't like how the girls or boys at sometimes keep asking questions.
Also, does sitting next to the window reduce the effect of sunscreen? My classmates always pull the curtain so I am exposed to the sunlight for the whole morning.

    • @irenegaile

In my opinion, ok lng to wash the face more than 2x a day basta using gentle cleanser especially in instances wherein pinag pawisan ka talaga or nadumihan ung face mo. Otherwise u can use a blotting paper or facial tissue to wipe your face off excess oil and dirt before reapplying sunscreen. Mas madali kc para sakin, ako i just re-apply using a compact powder with spf.

Dra. what can you advice about me who is so PICKY AND HESITANT to explore skin care products po? I am really frightened for the purging kasi or any reactions, naka-ilang readings na ako sa ingredients but then in the end, I won't try it pa rin, that's why until now I only have my go-to soap for the face only, and a cleanser (starts with letter E, ends with letter L), THEY ARE BOTH PINOY BRANDS ACTUALLY. I'm planning to start the sunscreen before it's too late and I don't really know what to buy. I think I really need to improve my routine na.

Should I follow my doctor's routine or should I reapply sunscreen!

    • @irenegaile

In my opinion, if you are indoors in an air-conditioned room or you did not sweat there is no need to re-apply. There was a study done in thailand that show sunscreens lasting up to 6-8 hours when indoors without application.
But ultimately, its up to you. Theres no harm in reapplying.

Most sunscreens naman now are water-resistant dn, best to check the label if you want to make sure.
