Winds were angry that Day
Have you considered doing a video on the Apr 27 2011 tornado that hit Little Rock AFB?
I’m an Air traffic controller in Fort Myers now and this video popped up on my feed. I was shocked to see this comment because I was in the control tower at Little Rock AFB when that tornado hit. I remember the c130s on top of each other, and the car on top of the commissary. I also have a video recording the sirens and when the lightning flashes in the video, you can see a funnel cloud. That to me was worse (sound wise) than riding hurricane Ian out. Can’t believe you asked about that storm here.
@@smitty16s Worked on the 130Js in Gold section for a few years until they contracted out the squadron. Small world, isn't it?
@@SuppliceVI it is a small world.
Normally when I think Florida, I think "oh they have hurricanes all the time there, they'll be just fine."
No. Things were NOT just fine.
It was an incredibly powerful storm.
@@CeltonHenderson luckily all of my family in South Florida is fine though communications to them are down.
I really think complacency in storms is a big deal now. I been through dozens of tornado warnings, been direct hit by a waterspout as a kid, and now they don't scare me (but a tornado warning always should). My family there including my Dad survived Andrew in 1992 in Miami and the stories they told are incredible. Before my Grandmother passed in 2020 she treated hurricanes as an incompetent living in South Florida her whole life...but she always warned me every year about taking precautions on storm preparation.
I wanted to become a meteorologist as a kid especially since Dad loved storm chaser shows, but ended up being a mechanical engineer, funny how that works. Still want to get into it though, I think SKYWARN would be a good fit especially with my amateur radio skills. Unfortunately since COVID getting classes for it has been hard.
@@Unb3arablePain They have online certification available. I have mine through NWS Tampa. Storm chasing even on a local scale is an incredible hobby to take up if you get the chance.
I’m ur 1000th view
I was outside in it. Found a concrete enclave and recorded footage.
You shouldn't stop under the electrical lines.
I was living in Tampa when Ian hit. Tampa was originally supposed to be taking the direct hit, but then it shifted its direction toward Fort Myers instead. I’d say we got really lucky.
