The UK has fewer legal protections for such incidents and businesses are expected to carry insurance for this type of event. When we had the family business here in the US I made sure the proper insurance policies were in force and paid current to cover our own asses.

It sadly goes down as a dispute. Very maybe after pursuing for a long time he would get somewhere, but his bank account itself was not compromised so the bank will not reimburse. In a case like this they have to find what account it was sent too fast and have the opposing bank freeze the fraudsters account. Usually they withdraw within minutes so its just a sad situation in general. The only option is reimbursement from the fraudster being arrested and ordered to pay back the money, other than that hes shit out of luck :(

The event planner was absolutely sure he was in the right so why didn't he go back to court to fight the judgement? He was told he had two weeks to file to have it set aside after making payment so he had plenty of time. It just seems like most of the people in these stories who kick up a fuss about having to pay never actually contest the debt.
As it was all on camera I would have made a complaint to the police regarding threats to kill, they are all brave men till they arrive in reception at prison, seen it many times.
