I actually ended up instructing this company to do the job and my tenant was gone in 4 weeks !! Can't recommend them enough. Safe to say, it put me off letting out my property for a long while :')

A lot of these type of shows got cancelled or watered down. The production companies/producers were sued at one point on can't pay, we'll take it away for invasion of privacy
All of these follow a script: 1. Agents arrive at the house 2. Debtor pretends to be confused by the debt. They either have no idea what it's about, or they 'already took care of it'. Alternatively, they have an attorney apply to dismiss it, but treat the application as an effective dismissal. 3. Eventually debtor starts to get the picture - these guys aren't going away, and they pay up The tactical ignorance on the part of the debtors always makes me laugh. Somebody has been hounding you for a long time over this debt, typically years, but you have no idea where it came from. Yeah, sure.

This is npt always the case at all, i had a water bill for £700 at the start of oct, by the start of dec i had a bailiff at my door. No previous letter or any other contact other than the initial bil which is actually against the law, but i sorted a payment plan instead of fighting them.

As an American, I can't help but think what a dangerous job this would be here. Here, a Sherriff is a law enforcement officer, with the powers of arrest. Someone showing up and just walking into a home or business would likely be un-alived, no matter the reason.
Don't forgot the most famous Sheriff in the world, Sheriff of Nottingham He was the most senior law official in that Shire. The word Sheriff came from "Shire official".

Sold as seen is only for private sellers if they state this ! If not stated then they have to go by the law and there are rules same as as any other company
Just wondering why the writ doesn’t allow the agents to garnish the debtors bank account. Time and time again the agents are told the debtor doesn’t have the money only to be paid in full an hour later.
Taking advantage of the old, disabled, and the poor is terrible, and they should make it a crime what happened to the older lady in the beginning. They can't escape the final day when we are all judged, some to eternal life, and some to the lake of fire.

When someone says "We had our ups and downs" during their side of story, it usualy means that they were regulary butting heads with the other side and that conflict was not uncommon between them. And when you underline that with "I though we were friends. How could they do this to me?" it means that you were regulary disrespecting them and did not even realize how badly you were treating them to the point where boss decided to cut you off. I can be of course wrong. There are no details about the background of the case. But I experienced myself two cases (few years apart) where annoying coleague was pest to the others. Annoying, making stupid disrespectful jokes, obnoxious. When confronted about his behaviour one got all insulted about it. The other ignored the confrontation as if it never happened. And in both cases, they sounded exactly like Joan. Their rhetoric was spot on. They did nothing wrong. They had their ups and downs with others. They thought that everyone was great friend. They saw nothing wrong. They simply did not understand why they were being transferred/kicked out. They expected to be treated better for one reason or other. They did not sue, but if they did, I could imagine that they could convince court that the dismissal was unfair. I mean in one case they send that worker for mandatory psych exam in hopes to get rid of him (he had among other things habit of sneaking behind your back and loudly claping hands behind you and then acting as if nothing weird was going on). So her unfair dismissal claim may be absolutely valid. But it would mean that her boss wanted to get rid of her so much that they were willing to step over the line.

@@leewalsh2428 there are 55 High sheriffs of England and wales. They are by royal appointment and nominations are made each year in November. A simple google search will tell you who they currently are. They are Ceremonial appointments now of course. But they are still a thing. The people in this programme are High court enforcement officers, which is what the sheriffs of old once did. Enforcing court writs etc. probably why they call them sheriffs in this as technically it’s the same job.

Most countries hold employers to account for bad treatement of staff. It amazes me that workers seem to have next to no rights in the US.

There is no such thing as a Sherriff in the UK, these guys are plain and ordinary bailiffs given a fancy name by the television production company.
Incorrect, the term sheriff has been used for decades. It wasn't just made up.
@@johnmc3862 We may have had Sheriffs in the medieval period, but we certainly don't have them today, and my point was that these people who are in fact simply debt collectors are not and have never been known as sheriffs its just a catchy term probably dreamt up by the production company because it sounds better than the Bailiff's are coming, I do hope I have enlightened you?🤔🤔

@@leewalsh2428 there are 55 High sheriffs of England and wales. They are by royal appointment and nominations are made each year in November. A simple google search will tell you who they currently are. They are Ceremonial appointments now of course. But they are still a thing. The people in this programme are High court enforcement officers, which is what the sheriffs of old once did. Enforcing court writs etc. probably why they call them sheriffs in this as technically it’s the same job.
