What other experiments do you want to see?
Could you creat a really blue . Blue lol if that makes any sence like a really neon pearl blue
I really want to see a red pearl or juice over top of wicked wine.
I want to see you spray a car in a base coat and then blow either iron or steel powder into the still wet basecoat, then after the dip is dry wet the car down and let it rust. Should Give it a wore our weathered rusted look. A while back it was in to strip a cars paint and let it rust, I think this could be a very good alternative that isn't destructive to the car. A flake gun may work for this purpose, or you may just mix up metal powder in a solvent and spray it with an hvlp or dip gun.
What's the cost for a full size SUV application?
Would be cool to see a dark color “juiced” top coat without pearl over a bright stock paint job (red etc) or over a bright dip to maybe give it a smoked effect? ...could look cool on chrome trim as well.
Love what you’re doing and thank you for sharing!
imagine driving that white pearl car at night and having a white car turn green when you turn your headlights on
Green hornet?
I really expected them to just both have the same colored gloss (like applying glitter nail polish over white nails or black nails. Same glitter just different back ground) this was very interesting!
Depends on the glitter actually. Some will look different over black and white polish. But, if you use powders over white & black nail polish, especially "unicorn" powders, you're going to get entirely different effects, just like the pearl powders here. This video turned out pretty much exactly as I expected it to.
Not a lot of people are willing to educate and share their knowledge...THANKS A LOT!!!
I'd love to see a white based pearl over a silver base. That would be interesting to see what effect is produced.
5:43 I still really like the Orange color it give out. I guess you have 2 choice of color shift? Green-ish and orange shift or the opposite i would assume
Bluegill completely changing colors over white is cool, I wonder what it'd turn out like if you kept layering it on to get rid of the cloudyness of it. I wonder if the other colorshifts will do something similar to this.
Also curious about grey bases, maybe do a greyscale test with a 75/25, 50/50, and 25/75 greys.
yeah and the question is, how many layers would be necessary to clear it up which would depend on how thick you lay-down each layer
Wow, the difference is huge! Thank you for this eye opening video.
I watch this after watched "Leandro" have what he wanted for 4 years...
Same, started binging
I have been binge watching this channel after first watching Leandro getting his dream come true!
The split black and white gives me Unus Annus vibes. Memento mori
You should see a doctor for that. Could be a sign of colon cancer 🤔
Never forget
@@Tony-iu7sw sorry chief, it's malignant

I would like to see you try more complicated paint jobs with multiple colors, pinstriping, fades and so on. I really want to see mixing up extremes, to see how far Plasti Dip can go. Like the Ferrari as a rat rod or a Mirror mural.
so lowrider paint huh, check out my ig CMNO87 Ive been messing with that for a while. Not plastidip but traditional paint and stuff
@@nitolinilo9034 I like to think of it as America's first cultural DIY. Unfortunately I refuse to use Instagram, read the terms and services and you might not use it either.
@@sparrow082 Meh, good for peoply to see my work and business
@@nitolinilo9034 have you thought about trying The autoflex Line, I'm not sure but I think you can use all your gear and dyc carries it, and it's compatible with the other dyc products.
@@sparrow082 I actually havent messed around with that or plastidip, have been sticking to oldschool conventional paints, candies, flakes etc.
Thank you for not making an eight minute video into a ten minute video just to make it ten minutes.
Michael Stenhjem who would do that..?
Jbeech513 ah, not our style. When the video ends, it ends. Thanks as always for watching!

He doesn't make money off ads, he makes money off getting people into plastidip and buying product.
I love the cloudy light purple over the white base coat. It just adds texture to it and would allow for more creativity with what else you could add to it.
INCREDIBLE demonstration!!
I have NEVER NOT been amazed by the videos that you post. Good Stuff! Kudos
Man, this is getting me all hyped up for what I can do to my charger.... I've got a few pricey operations to finish first, but this is definitely going on my to-do list!
As a hobbyist, I'd like to see some comparisons like this using aerosols since I would be using small amounts of product only.
AWESOME AS USUAL!!!! This video had so much work in it. Amazing!!!
As soon as I get back from Australia I'm dipping my car again!!! Really gonna do this time!!!! 😅
Thank you for sharing these test results. Had no idea pearlescent finishes were so dependent on the base coat color. You are definitely the type of professionals who know how to make those automotive finishes that some people just want to taste because they look so damn delicious.
That white Abalone on white is amazing. It looks so crisp and catchy.
Thanks for the big experiment! Amazing variation of results.
Great video. I'm not a painter but I definitely learned something advanced about painting with pearl today.
I love watching this channel to see what the colors
Great info!! I have an 06 Touring Harley with what they call Glacier White, which I need to repair a fender, so you’ve provided some very good info on this. Thank You!
Fonzie! You’re a god!! Thanks for all these amazing tutorial videos👍🏽 you’re the Best!!!
These videos are so mesmerizing I could watch them all day! Great stuff!
Graphics4Toys amen
Presented in a professional manner, thank you.
I was so stuck on what base I was going to use.. this made it so easy!! Thanks for sharing! :)
This was a great experiment! I'm leaning toward dipping my car once it's all prepped as I can paint the car the color I want but easily change it if I don't like how it ends up!
Love the explanation and experiment.
Thank you for showing layer by layer on this one!
Great demostration!
I’m glad you did this would love to see this in a full-scale application but start at the front end of the car with white or a very light gray and fade the base coats to Black at the end of the car and have the fade with the pearls follow suit
Fantastic vid. Tbh seeing how the base affects other pearl colors would be interesting too. Maybe make a little series out of it?
Try mix a whole kit, base topcoat and pearls into a big bucket mix it and spray.
i think the base would win out and you might get some pearl to come through if it stays suspended well enough, otherwise, waste of time.
Great demonstration! Thanks!
The middle hood is the best that green on the last hood is hitting too 😉🤞🏾
Your effort....deserves much more views.....keep it up...✌🏻
I like the green color on the black base that you got with the white base Pearl better than the outcome over the white base and especially liked the purple over the black base and I agree with you on the color shifting pearl on the black base
Buddy, this is excellent. Nobody does stuff like this.
Love the look of the purple solid pearl, as purple is my favourite colour. If I had the money I would love to have my car sprayed with a black base, then designs added in white base, then 4 coats of the purple solid pearl. This would give a great purple car with the designs in a lighter clouded purple, and so much easier than doing a single colour base and trying to add the designs with the pearl.
I kinda like the cloudy purple, it looks really cool.
Any plans on making a glow in the dark?
you can add your own glow pigment. find it on amazon
94camaroguy yeah if they wanted to be responsible for motor vehicle accidents all over the US lol “what happened here??!” “I don’t know officer I saw this glowing object moving down the street and thought it was a UFO!” 🤣 liability my friend, all about the liability
this is the cop's,you'll be so easy to find if you break the law
@@hickman7909 what if it's during daytime?
Jasen Henry true
I like the cloudy look
Wow, that was cool!
The white base solid pearl looks like stormy clouds.
this gives me the idea to do a ghosting effect or pinstripe, where you look one way and see solid and the other way and see magical appearing details or pinstripe.
Excellent wet out technique with that spray gun!!!!
Thanks for your video I was thinking silver base with vexing violet but now I know
Just ordered a new sprayer, I think it's been six years since I bought the first one.... Throwing that Bonita blue over a red base..... Turns the deep blue purple at it's darkest but hits that teal even better as well.... Recommend trying yourself!!!!
Another great video as always! 🤙🏽
I really liked the white pearl over black, turned a nice shade of green
Thanks for showing this!
I was wondering if you did a tri split hood with all 3 base coats and see which colors really work best with which base...
The 1st on, purple, was a dream come true need a bnw paint but instead of white do mint green or something
2nd one so majestic
3rd was epic yet basic
😻😻😻
holy cow! I want to see this with thermochromic pigment next
Super helpful! Thanks!
Thanks took a lot of work great info
I reaaaaally want to see a burgundy semi gloss base with lime pearl opaque topcoat!!!
Fonzie is turning into a beast look at those pipes!
If you haven't done this already, I'd love to see a durability comparison between a couple of different setups. I have a new car and I'm experimenting with how I want to finish it.
Creativity level on top 🔥🤘🏻✌🏻
Love the white pearls on white, reminds me of my old Audi
When I was in the service, we did a black spit shine that we then finished off with the oil from a cordovan polish. The result was a subtle reddish glow that made the black really pop. Since then, I've always wanted to see candy-apple red on top of black.
I seen someone use a matt lime green as a primer base and colored it candy red came out pretty clean
I am looking at redoing my desktop. This is very helpful, I wanna paint it in color shift.
Love your vids. Every idea I had about car color & paint was completely bogus. Many thanx.
PS; Who did the music for this vid?????
Awesome results! showing just how much further the customization with Dip can get!
But fonz! Can you take these and see how they are in the sunlight? I would imagine it changes quite a bit. Even if not its something worth seeing.
All vw/Audi hoods! Nice test 👍
blew my mind. thanx
Insane. Very informative
I want that green! For a Semi truck! Thanks!
So many ideas for activities!
Great Great Content as always !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love your videos! Keep 'em comming (Y)
This isn't restricted to just automotive painting. It is the same for painting in and around your home. Painting over white takes more paint to get full coverage. This is why most paint stores will ask if you want your primer tinted or a paint with built-in primer.
testing what’s possible a patina body panel would be pretty odd but cool too. Imagine what pearls would look like over a rusty hood or something haha
These are sooooooooo pretty!!!!! I want a white/iridescent car!!!!!! Btw this came up in my feed looking at nail polish and is totally relevant to my life for base coats!! 😂 💕 💅🏻
This was information I needed to know. Some painter just spray the car
Love love love this!
What would you recommend for a base for a paint code B98m Aquamarine Blue Pearl Metallic Paint?
This color is going on a 72 Cutlass Oldsmobile.
Great video! Thank you
I really like that green on the last hood
I'd be interested in seeing some of those white base colors with the extra pearl for full coverage.
Can you make something similar like the white base pearls but on black? So it looks black but the pearls shine when the light hits it?
I’ve always dreamed of pearl stripes. Something that subtly shows up when the lights hit it just right as it drives by and disappears as you pass. Heck Ben a pearl only flag or something or a skull.
I'd love to see more experimental stuff like using complimentary colored bases to pair with pearls. So instead of doing a Red Pearl over a Red Base, maybe try a Green Pearl over a Yellow Base or something. The coolest result you've had so far is the red base with komodo colorflip pearl. That thing was sick.
looks like we learned to follow instructions
How about a silver metalic basecoat ?
Really interesting, thanks.
I imagine the gun in use is HVLP, what type though? The coverage and finish is excellent.
I suspect it's cloudy on both sides... you just can't see it on the black side.
And since you can't see the cloudiness on the black side, it's not cloudy, at least for the most part. Some colors will still look cloudy but most colors are built for black base in mind
I agree. It's an example of how to cut corners. Doesnt matter what the base coat is. Full coverage is full coverage. The black tricks the eye. I've been a spray tech for over 20 years. A high end customer with plenty of money to pay for the job to be done properly would not settle. An experienced person with a good eye would catch it on both bases. Not to mention the camera hides the clouds in black but amplifies it on the white.
@@thugasaurusrex6004 most of the bases for their paint (I'm talking about the liquid base that are pigmented during video. Not pre painted base on car) are an ultra deep or a deep base. Which by definition are intended to be tinted with colors that require a starting base of something other than white. Some colors cannot be achieved if using a white base no matter how much pigment is used. Had he put some white pigment in the mix before painting or added same amount of color to a white base the results would have been equal to the black if not better as far as coverage is concerned
Would love to see the same test with black vs white vs bright silver base. Diggin this channel! PEACE!!!!!
damn that bluegill over the black was gorgeous.
Thank you
Curious how color matching paint would compare to the black and white tests here.
Can you experiment with different color base coats? I would like to see how the pearl looks against a blue base, red base, green base coat.
That background music during the painting sounds like the music to Trucker's Delight
I like all on the black part
I really like that purple
Would love to see a car with a black to white fade as a base to see what happens with the purls, colour shifts, flakes etc as the base tone changes
What do you use to add the pearls to is it a clear coat? Also why don't you criss- cross coats? Generally done with regular paints? I want to play with this paint and will have many questions later the more I see.
