  • I got hold of this TITAN TTB705BDS 80MM ELECTRIC BAND SAW after fiddling around with jigsaws and scroll saws to cut through thick wood when I should have just cut to the chase and got a bandsaw in the first place :)
    My other channel, where I'll next be using this in anger on a guitar build: / chrisfranklyn
    Overall I'm impressed for the money and I'm convinced it'll help me along the way.
    It's available from ScrewFix.

    As someone who only started woodworking last year I found it bemusing that Titan power tools don't come with a dust extractor connector.
    When I got my Titan Miter Saw it only came with a dust bag which quite frankly sucks (no pun).
    I later got a Titan Circular Saw and again no dust connector.

    *This is my second WEN tool and they are both great **MyBest.Tools** I needed to do some trim work around the house and needed a scroll saw for the intricate work. No complaints so far.*

    I've just bought one and the first thing I did, (after reading and watching other reviews), was to make a decent fence, Peter Millard style), and buy a couple of blades from Tuff Saws. (They sell a variety of the apparently difficult to find Titan 1575mm blades).
    Dust extraction... I cut a 40mm straight push fit coupler in half, wrapped a bit of tape around it and it fits perfectly into the exhaust port. I've made a load of vacuum attachments with 40mm waste pipe and a heat gun and my Henry fits a treat.
    Cheap & it's definitely worth doing. It cuts the dust right down.
    I love this band saw.
    I cannot see what would be better in a more expensive one that would justify the extra £s apart from cutting capacity.

      Cheers! Thanks for all that. I do need to work on a series of attachments for things - I'm slightly terrified to use my belt/disc sander combo in the garage because the clouds of dust it'll kick up. I will check out Tuff Saws, a good blade would work a treat I'm sure.

      I’m thinking of getting one. Is it still working ok and do you have any pictures of your modifications. Great review. Cheers for your help

      it seems 40mm is the go-to for extractor piping : ]

    I bought one of these a year ago and have only just started to use it. It’s fantastic. I bolted a large 15mm ply on top of the existing plate, cut the line into it and it cuts so well and straight. I’m terrified 😱😱 of the table saw, so this bandsaw suits me fine 😁. Great review, thank you very much, enjoyed watching you 😊

      Thanks for the advice. I have meant to out a stronger and perhaps wider table on top of mine too. Especially when I'm using it for guitars and could do with the extra support.

    Great video, I had my band saw today, I've set it up but when I try to cut a curve the saw blade twist and starts to slow down! Can you give me any advise on what to do, thanks 👍

    Thanks Chris, great video! Can you let be know the dimensions of the base of this bandsaw. I have a table that is 50cm deep so just need to know if this will fit on my table. Thanks!

    Great review, I bought the same saw yesterday and set it up but I'm having trouble with the saw blade turning, when I try and cut a curved shape the blade turns and slows down! Any advice on how to prevent this? Sorry for the essay👍

    • @chrisfranklynmakes
      @chrisfranklynmakes  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I've had a couple of stalls where the motor slows right down. Perhaps it's too week... or a blade with a different tooth count or adjusting the guide height? If it's pushing into the guide sides it might stall? I'm just guessing though. I've hope you had better luck since you posted that.

      Yeah, long term plan would be a good plan. Especially for something at the cheaper end of the market. I think the best improvement will be a decent new blade for it, which I'll upgrade at some point.

    • @chrisfranklynmakes
      @chrisfranklynmakes  Год назад

      I hope so. The best thing to do is to get a new blade with a tooth count suitable for the wood thickness.

    How has this been and have you used it to cut any metal?

    • @chrisfranklynmakes
      @chrisfranklynmakes  3 года назад

      Really good. Especially since I got some new blades with appropriate tooth counts for different jobs. I've never cut any metal with it... not deliberately, I hit a nail once and needed a new blade!

    Can I ask. I’ve bought this recently I’m a hobbyist and I still get the blade straying. I’ve tried increasing the tension in quarter turn movements until it’s fully tightened but nothing works. I’ve done the tracking six times even removing the blade twice. I have bought a new blade from Tuffsaws. Is there anything I can try at all.

    • @chrisfranklynmakes
      @chrisfranklynmakes  3 года назад

      I'm afraid I'm a beginner like you and it's frustrating I agree. If I work something out I'll let you know. I actually tend to cut going into the blade at a 10 degree(ish) angle these days. Since I got it the fence and guards aren't that useful now.

      Now that you've added a blade from TuffSaws, does the blade still wander? Do you use a 6mm or 10mm wide blade?

  • @OOAK-Ireland
    @OOAK-Ireland Год назад

    I have never seen anyone cut from the side. place should be in front of the blade. that is how you push the product towards the blade not pull it along.

      Hi, sorry to take a long time... I've cut guitar bodies out of teak and one that was a sapele, walnut and maple laminate since getting it. So yes, it works for guitar bodies. Sorry to take so long to get back to you!

    The fence on the TITAN BANDSAW has always been a major issue. If u can get ur hands on a different one or maybe do something to make it not move so much & put a new blade on it then it's a decent little saw.
    I was hoping u would do a longer video on it bcos I've watched a fair few of these. Look at some of the other ones on YT to see how they did with the fence. The table wasn't really an issue on the other videos I watched tbf but the fence is a nightmare on them all. Maybe u should make a fence from a piece of wood and just clamp it to the table mate. U can get some really nice veneers from it that way.
    Check out PETER MILLARD's "10 minute workshop! videos on bandsaws if u need a bit more advice on these budget saws

      Cheers for the comments, I tend to cut more freeform shapes so don't really need a fence at the moment but I would probably just clamp on a straight edge if I did.

    I bought this from Screwfix, The blade as supplied is too long. The tension is at its max as fitted, experiments reveal that a blade length of 61 1/2 inch is better. The blade supplied is 62 inches 1575 mm and is just too long.otherwise the saw is good value. Apart from the rip fence and the opening of the doors which is another story. Hope this helps best wishes Derek Rowe

      Derek, take a look at this:
      ruclips.net/video/ip4CYW3ee-Y/видео.html
      I did what Jer suggested, just using a hand-held metal file/rasp - it worked a treat, fence now attaches perfectly to the table.
      Also, I bought a Starratt 1575 blade for about €12; improves the saw immensely
