The first 30 minutes REALLY brought the movie down

Could've been a great animated movie, but nah the first 30 minutes killed it for me.
I feel like they did it to show Batgirl having a kind of a Jokerish enemy of her own. Joker is obsessed by Batman and now Batgirl had one of those herself. It could have been done better but that is what I got out of it.

When I watched the movie, I had insider knowledge. One of my friends who saw it before told me to just skip that first half hour and I would have a better time. I did that and enjoyed the movie a lot. I have yet to watch that first half hour and I think I'm glad that I did.
I actually enjoyed the film thought it was cool but the one problem I have is Batman and Joker having a laugh together while Barbara is in the hospital -__- (unless he killed him)

the prologue for batgirl was just that, a prologue. it was just to get you invested in batgirl for when the joker shoots her so you can feel for her.
really wasnt needed though. the comic was awesome, and it didnt have that.

Killing Joke is my favlrite issue but this movie was disappointing.
The first half had nothing to do with the storyline. First 30 minutes was dogshit. The art style is generic. The only good thinkg about this movie is Mark Hamil Joker which didn't have enough screentime. They got so many things wrong.
and as for the animation, the reason it looked retro like is because they wanted it to look like the actual comic in style. they went 100% faithful to the comic. that's why the animation didn't look like the newer dc animated movies.
For being a comic book adaptation it was alright but from a non comic reader's standpoint it was boring

While watching it I never thought that Paris would become the Joker in anyway maybe end up working for him at the least.
I like the idea of Batman killing joker and going insane. After everything that has happened between joker and Batman this was the last straw. In Arkham where Batman is talking to the inmate thinking it’s joker, you can tell he doesn’t want either of them die but at the same time Batman is tired at this point. So he knows one of them is gonna have to die. That whole concept is crazy to me just wish it was told a bit better in my opinion.

The killing joke comic had a musical number as well . If the whole first 30 min. Hadn't been in there it's exactly the killing joke
They stayed true to the comic. The origin story was showed the exact same as in the comic.
The first half of the movie was only there to see how much babara means to batman so it's more tragic for the audience to see this character we followed to get hurt in that way. It was not necessary but I guess it was for people who aren't that familiar with batgirl.
The rest was really good in my opinion.

joker ( heath ledger ) from the dark knight where he tells two different conflicting stories on how he got his scars is spot on with how the joker is in the comics. he has no true origin story and no one knows his real name.. anything he say is just him fucking with people...
I completely agree with you guys on this. The whole movie was pretty bland and they didn't do anything memorable. Hopefully there's a better movie that'll come along and blow everyone's minds!
Well it was based off the comic. They kept the exact same moments from the comics minus the first half hour.
Yeah but the execution of the lines, the actual voice acting and animation overall was average. Nothing special about it. Sure they were accurate to the comic but.. that's the only thing they had going for them.
Oh and to end it off. that is the theory that batman killed him. hence the KILLING JOKE. joker broke the bat mentally and went against his moral code. but it's up to the viewer to decide.

I read the audio comic book , loved it
the whole first part was a failed attempt to try and have batman care more about batgirl situation by having them fuck( and they failed at that too by it not developing into an actual relationship . he just smashed and ran) the second half was better . the killing joke is canon and apart of the main dc universe so no a far as the comic batman didnt kill the joker. they also fucked in the animated tv shows too an older barbara reference the relationship somewhere in batman beyond

This was close to the book as it gets
The whole point of stripping Gordon and showing him nude photos of Barbara and her gun shot wound was to break him and make him lose control, show how one event can turn a man into something he wasn’t
The side story that opened the movie was big pieces taken from other books
Batman didn’t kill joker in the end as that what joker would want
It’s more likely joker stopped laughing once he saw Batman enjoy it too much which would take his joy out of it
The Killing Joke has nothing to do with the Comic Book nor does it follow the spirit of the comic only the last 20 minutes was the real killing joke

The first half was to set up who Barbara was and her history a bit with the Batman
You both thought killing joke meant extra violence which wasn’t what it was about it was mind games and weaknesses being exposed to push a man to the brink of madness
You do the joker a disservice when you spoke of his ways
He isn’t just some killer
He’s flamboyant vain cocky sadistic cruel psychotic genius master manipulator creepy unnerving evil funny abusive deadly unhinged unholy cunning
Taking a carnival and making it a cruel house of horrors fits who he is
His backstory again changes over the decades depending on who tells it but in this book it fit and helped show a decent into madness
You both should read the book first
