Thanks Steve! Not sure how ours turned off seeing how you must go into the settings to turn it on/off. However, no worries now thanks to this video. A lot easier than trying to fine it in the manual! Thanks again... 👍
Hi Steven. Thanks for the brief demo. A quick question: would you be knowing why Toyota doesn't has an audible chime in the event of BSM triggering ? Just test drove a corolla xse and was a bit underwhelmed by this. -_-
From what I know a chime could cause a driver to panic or respond in a manner that makes them less safe. The blind spot monitor is not meant to eliminate the driver being safe but rather to help them to be safer. If there was a chime and someone got used to it then they could think that just because there is no chime its ok to get over without looking. I had a customer say one time that they just look for the blind spot warning and if its off they get over. Safety systems are meant to help you drive not take over for you.
Also the audible signal made/makes people rely on the sound without even turning their head so by taking the sound away they're making you at the very least turn your head and actually look at the mirror. It's actually safer.
Toyota is just stupid In this area. All other manufacturers gives a chime and it never kill anyone. I got a Camry recently and I will not be keeping. So many things about the way they do things annoys me. Like not having a sound for my blindspot.
I just came to this video to figure out how to turn a chime on! Glad I found out in the comments there is none. My Mazda chimes and I feel like it helps me be more aware
If you can help me I am trying to get my second channel up to 1000 subscribers. Here is one of the videos on it. I hope you like it. ruclips.net/video/gGC6xQIHSzk/видео.html

Could you show the button you push (not just the resulting effect) when you want to turn the BSM on or off?

blin spot monitor unavailable
This message appeared to me for no reason and this feature no longer works. What should I do, sir?
Probably needs recalibrated. Could happen for a bump in a parking lot that you see no damage from or a hard hit on a pot hole etc
