Hi Terry...I'm 71 yrs old and now shooting V-Log with Pocket 3. When doing tests I shoot some in natural color, some in V-log. On my G9II I often shoot tests in CineD, Natural and LOG color profiles. WHERE, in FCPX can I find which color profile the clips where shot in? I can see frame rate but not color profile. Is this possible? And thank you for your wonderful content. You speak to me like my son talking to his dad. I appreciate you. Jim in Oregon
Great video. Very useful. I fly DJI drones Mavic 3 and Avata 2 and film in D-Log M. Your video saved me a lot of time and effort. Perfect for other DJI D-Log M products. Exactly what I was searching for. THANKS!
Terry - not only is your open correct about me having no idea how to color grade DLOG etc...I have no idea what it even is. But all the cool kids seem to be talking about it, so I shall take a knee while you walk me through what in the heck is so cool about this! I'm stoked and thanks for taking the time to do this video.
Editing materials from DJI Pocket 3! This is just the video I'm waiting for! Thanks bro! After watching few of your OP3 videos, I'm almost your subscriber, let's see your next one and I'll decide then. 🙏🏼😀
@@TerryWarfield Ok I found the file. Now I'm trying to get the adjustment layer into Final Cut. I'll look around on YT for that. I appreciate the support and the colors look great. New sub. Thank you Terry
Hello I purchased your LUTs pack, I have a question regarding color grading. Let's say that I apply one of your LUT to a node in davinci resolve, if I want to modify the exposure, contrast, etc. Do I add more nodes before or after the LUT node? Also for CapCut, what adjustment layer should the LUT be added to?
Thanks Terry. Good tips and explanation. If you apply DJI's rec.709 LUT in your editing software and then go to render the video, do you render to H264 or H265?
Was getting ready to order your LUT kit, is that Adjustment Layer effect included? I see Custom Lut in FCPX but couldn't find the Adjustment Layer effect so I can span all clips. And great video content.
@@TerryWarfield Thanks, I was able to download the Adjustment Layer effect and purchased the Custom LUT package. What is the difference between the Base and Grade option?
What happened to the bottom left corner of the screen (when horizontal)? Did it take a bump? Get snagged on something? Anything exposed now at the edge of the screen there (for dust to get in or whatever)?
I wouldn't. all cameras have different gamma curves. it's best to get the Air2s DLOG to Rec.709 lut and apply that FIRST as your color space transform. Now if you want to apply these after that at maybe 20% opacity for the custom color grade, sure you can.
Hello Terry, thank you for providing these videos for us. I came across your easy-to-understand videos while looking for a how-to install the LUT to final cut pro version 10.5. I downloaded the LUT from DJI's website on my late 2013 iMac. It says OS Catalina. For some reason the the zip LUT file didn't come with folders containing the LUTS. When I try to open the zip files it shows one single blank page. no tech savy here
So when I transfer my footage from my osmo pocket 3 to my macbook pro, the footage is super choppy... Do you know why my inported video is so choppy when I film in Dlog M on my Osmo Pocket 3? I am having to convert all my files to apple pro res first and that takes over an hour for 20gb of video.
Hello! I have discovered that the joystick diagonally up to the right does not work for me when moving the camera. Yes it works for me in the other angles. Does the same happen to you? Will it be a mechanical or software failure? thanks!
Let's talk about shooting in RAW Photos is the same as shooting in D-LOG for the newbies below, imagine taking pictures is like baking a cake. When you bake a cake and it’s ready, you can either eat it right away or keep the ingredients separate. Eating it right away is like taking a regular picture with your iPhone, camera ect where everything looks good and ready to share. Keeping the ingredients separate, like the flour, sugar, and eggs, is like taking a RAW photo or shooting a video in D-Log, It’s not ready to eat (or share) because you still need to mix and bake it (edit it on a computer) to make it look really yummy (enhance the photo). So, a RAW photo / D-Log is like a cake that’s not fully baked yet, and you need to do some extra cooking (editing) to make it delicious (a great photo/video). Make sense ? 😎👍
Why you hating on Premiere? In my mind, I see a Resolve user mocking you about color grading on Final Cut. Just say pick an NLE that allows color space transform and color adjustments. All editing software have their place for different workflows. 👍🏽😁
Another helpful video, I may pickup a pocket 3. Did you use the ZV-E1, IV, or the S5iix for the living room shots? And 16-35 f4? I’m looking to switch from R6ii to either Sony or Pana. Thanks
@@TerryWarfield D-Log M does not have an official color space transform math where you can actually change color spaces for such with wider gamut. The LUT you've shown is just a adjustment transformation within Rec.709 color space. No CST is happening during applying this LUT. Both input and output CS is Rec.709. D-log M is not even true log. It's rebranded D-Cinelike Rec.709 look.
I love how forward you are with your videos, thanks for getting right to the point and no fluff.

I love your color grade and I am planing to get DJI pocket 3 this week. Can I use your LUT on Capcut desktop version and Final Cut Pro for IPad?
Yep!
Hey Terry, I realized your luts are made for Rec709. Will they work for Rec 2020 hlg color space?

Cracks me up too! Great videos and fun to watch.
When you got your dji mic handle from the original dobo, which adapter did you get for your mic arm, 5/8? 3/4?
The thing is, it’s not Log. OP3 d-log is just a name. The actual color profile is actually rec709.
Also confirmed at 3:18 where the input color space is Rec. 709.
@@rgershexactly, cmon Terry, get your shit together.
Gracias por el video estoy aprendido y me ayudado mucho necesitaba el rec709 no sabia como encontrarlo gracias
Hey brotha. Great video. Question will these LUTS work with DaVinci Resolve? I am new to color grading
Yep
I think you're supposed to use the colourspace LUT in the camera LUT area in the extended section of the info inspector, it saves an adjustment layer.
You can. But also the osmo pocket Lut is not in NLE’s yet. Only DJI dlog lut which is not the same as DLOG - M
Are these luts usable on Capcut ?
What is that DJi mic holder / handle are you using?
Yo Terry.... awesome video as always dawg. Would your LUTs also work on M3 D-Log M as well?
Sure, however you might need to adjust slightly as the gamma curve might be a little different
Thanks that was super helpful. For newbies like me we always freak out when we hear color grading. Lol
Thank you again bro. You're a blessing and keep it up. #supportblackmenbusiness

Can I use the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 REC.709 + Creative LUTS (9-Pack) for my Action 4
I cant guarantee it but it should work fine. I was using the Action Rec.709 before the Osmo pocket rec.709 lut was released and it worked fine
Will that LUT work well with Mavic Air2s footage, too?
I wouldn't. all cameras have different gamma curves. it's best to get the Air2s DLOG to Rec.709 lut and apply that FIRST as your color space transform. Now if you want to apply these after that at maybe 20% opacity for the custom color grade, sure you can.

no. I go for a balanced exposure in most cases. 10bit is very forgiving and doesn't need to be overexposed like previous cameras
