Silkk grew up in the Bay longer than his older brothers did. He even graduated from High School in Richmond, CA. His style of rapping is influenced by a form of Westcoast rapping called "Turf Talking" which is characterized by rapping "off beat." E-40 and countless others rapped liked this in the 1990s (and still do to an extent). Silkk is far from being the worst rapper of all time. If you're from the Left Coast, especially the Bay, you'd probably agree with me too.
Jay was and is about that paper...No Limit probably paid Him well...but Master P should have pulled him to the side and begged Him to ghostwrite for Silkk...I heard Snoop did !
They had that relationship from foxy doing a song mia x album first. At that time it was smart to try to get into the southern market as a up north rapper nobody was doing that yet. Jay also did ha remix with juvenile whats your point?
Silkk's growth was stunted because Beats By The Pound left. No Limit wasn't as good lyrically as Ca$h Money and artists like Master P and Silkk were saved because of the beats by Beats by The Pound. When they left, everyone realized how the beats were what carried No Limit so everyone pretty much stop listening to their new music.

It wasn’t because cash money was lyrically better. Cash money was just the hot new thing and no limit faded into the background. It’s hard to stay on top for a long period of time.
For the longest time I thought he was the worst rapper but truth be told he said real shit in his raps. his flow was just awkward to for a listener like me and wasn’t very appealing but if you pay attention to what he said he was ok and That ain’t my fault remix was a beast.

His first album The Shocker was 🔥. His second album was good but some of it I didn't like much. I put it like this if I had to choose between Silk and all these mexican rappers, Silk would be up there on 2pac level 😭😭.
Y’all should’ve mentioned how on beat silkk was when he first started out rapping in Richmond, CA. He purposely rapped off beat just to be different and it worked. This actually proved he wasn’t a bad rapper, just wasn’t determined to perfect his craft…..
He wasn’t trash. He had a complex off beat delivery He had the best verse on Ghetto child and his delivery got better especially during the 504 boys days. He had some good songs and he was one of the first to hit Beyoncé and Mya I don’t think he was gangsta enough for the label he was signed to
Silk a legend he stayed true to himself came with a style so original which is also hard to do because ppl are so use to rapping on beat he was never extra never heard any bad press about him he rode for master P & the label and had a decent career then gracefully bowed out
Just be straight with me was 🔥🔥 when I was younger lol...but to be honest dude was off beat at times but didn't sound too bad. I miss the no limit days. For some reason I never took him to seriously though.
Silkk wasn't the best or worse rapper but they just hate on em because of his flow. Look at e40 or any rapper with a off beat type flow they get no love or just underrated.
Lito cool with being underground. One of the most lyrical and best to come out the south. Lischey ave Cashville tennekey!!! He’s a self made millionaire. He always sell out his shoes because he has a set fan base. Dude is very intelligent and smart. You gotta give him his flowers. He didn’t care about being Hollywood.
Naw we don't need that one "Paternity leave" and "Starlito's wayy 4 Ghettout" riding just like the old cuts if anything we need to give him a bigger platform with Trip
Silk was off beat but his rhymes always landed on beat and if you listen closely Silk was one of the few on that label with punchlines . The problem was without rhythm its hard to listen
@@7miyami u see em too... he in all the comments. I think He used to get rejected by girls when he was younger and got mad because they were talking amongst themselves saying that they was feeling silkk
The problem, which nobody ever points out because most people wouldn't know, is he was freestyling most of that. If you rap, you can tell when people are freestyling. Like KLC and others have mentioned, Master P freestyled EVERY verse. Not this punch in one line at a time stuff that people are doing now. Silkk used to do the same thing, but when you're trying to rap fast like that with style, you can't really be consistent freestyling. So, sometimes he would catch lightning in a bottle and come with a verse that's FIRE like on TRU "There They Go" but on the flipside a lot of times he would end up with verses that's just unacceptable and should never have been allowed to come out.
Ok this episode doesn't make much sense to me silks growth wasn't stunted he actually had a decent run in the rap game has platinum and gold selling albums I would say he maxed out and the people calling him the worst rapper ever are jus hatin at the end of the day 🤷🏾♂️
His flow was different but very unique! I still bump Silk till this day! Whenever I pull up bumping Silk it immediately separates each from the rest and reals ones know that there definitely dealing with something different 💯💯💯
The crazy thing about that the same "counter clockwise" flow Silkk had...E-40 was doing the same thing before Silkk! Silkk can rap on beat, its just that the off-beat thing was his gimmick.
He had the worst flow or cadence But worst rapper ever nah. He had some decent verses .....his verse on bourbons and Lacs proves it Charge It 2 The Game was the first CD I ever bought No limit just him pushed when they had better spitters like Mac Magic Mystikal C murder Mia X Big ed The worst rappers ever are here now. Outside of a few bright spots like ybn cordae, 21 Savage (when he actually tries), young m.a. And dababy.... All these new guys are terrible. I'd take silkk anyday over migos, yachty, uzi vert or who ever else. Dude sold records had a few hits. He did his job
I have to agree with you his first two albums especially the first one had some of the best production of any no limit album. I’m not a silk hater. He was cool/ original.. but I can only imagine what Mac could have done with those beats on silkks first 2 albumz

Why do people put Earl Sweatshirt on the 50 worst rappers list? Because of his mixing and sound quality these days? Or best choices? Does that make him a bad rapper tho ? Like actual rapping or are they counting that as a whole? That’s interesting. Because I think Earl is amazing. His lofi thing is just a style he adopted. It’s just rare you see people go from the professional sound to the very lofi style. Usually people go from lofi to professional due to to money means.

Dude had that unorthodox flow that many replicated later on. Give the man some respect.
Eh, he's better than Lil' Yachty and some others nowadays. But from that era who actually sold records? Absolutely. He needed a feature on every song for a reason.
That was nepotism at its most blatant.
Every single no limit song EVER had a feature.....
That's not saying much saying ne better than yatchy
I fukd wit silk. Another banger SGM!
Why do people put Silkk as the poster child for wack rappers?
Back then he was considered garbage, but today he would probably be considered the best.
Nope.
Nope
Respect for tha video, Silkk is definitely not tha worst rapper out there
His first album The Shocker was 🔥.
His lyrics were horrible though, just like Birdman, Jim Jones and Crunchy Black. Only difference is Silkk came off as corny and soft
One of the underrated rappers of all time #Facts
He wasn’t trash. He had a complex off beat delivery
He had the best verse on Ghetto child and his delivery got better especially during the 504 boys days. He had some good songs and he was one of the first to hit Beyoncé and Mya
I don’t think he was gangsta enough for the label he was signed to
He was ahead of his time of mumble rap. It did sound good but trying to understand was another level. 🤣🤣
Nah silkk is not a mumble rapper
Thanks for doing this. Silkk wasn’t that bad.
Silkk was dope. He hit the pockets in the beats differently. Too me he was like E-40.
MADD facts
Silk a legend he stayed true to himself came with a style so original which is also hard to do because ppl are so use to rapping on beat he was never extra never heard any bad press about him he rode for master P & the label and had a decent career then gracefully bowed out
Silkk would be absolutely legendary in today’s hip hop era
I’ll give you that. 👍🏾
Just be straight with me was 🔥🔥 when I was younger lol...but to be honest dude was off beat at times but didn't sound too bad. I miss the no limit days. For some reason I never took him to seriously though.
Thats song is a classic you should listen to the words he saying off beat maybe but very eloquent
Silkk wasn't the best or worse rapper but they just hate on em because of his flow. Look at e40 or any rapper with a off beat type flow they get no love or just underrated.
That’s crazy because in their earlier records.. Silk was always on beat. It wasn’t till 96 or 97 when he developed an offbeat style.
I’m not sure if you know him? But you should do one on All $tar aka Starlito.
Starlito shouldn't be on here he making good music still..he had a daughter & fall back..don trip& lito do they thing
@@bigsouth010 exactly lito didn't stunt his growth just stayed true to hisself
Naw we don't need that one "Paternity leave" and "Starlito's wayy 4 Ghettout" riding just like the old cuts if anything we need to give him a bigger platform with Trip
He definitely didn’t live up to his talents if you a fan he get his respect but so much was missed by not being on a major
Silk was off beat but his rhymes always landed on beat and if you listen closely Silk was one of the few on that label with punchlines . The problem was without rhythm its hard to listen
Still sold millions 🤷🏾♂️
@Terence Johunkin 🤣🤣🤣must feel good to hate
@@paidnfull5278 silkk got some triggered haters
He did somthing right
Our senior tee shirts in high school said “no limit 1998”
Big facts
Silk's first album went platinum without radio play. Silk was hard at first to me.
Me too big dawg
@Bobby Jackal you in every comment , no job no money , just replyin to everybody 😂 silk musta smacked you back in the day. Getcho weird ass on
@@7miyami u see em too... he in all the comments.
The absence of Beats By The Pound waz an issue
Facts
That hesitant flow, like he was trying to come off the dome, and just.........
The crazy thing about that the same "counter clockwise" flow Silkk had...E-40 was doing the same thing before Silkk! Silkk can rap on beat, its just that the off-beat thing was his gimmick.
I never knew Master P sold no limit catalog interesting good work my brother
He had the worst flow or cadence
But worst rapper ever nah.
He had some decent verses .....his verse on bourbons and Lacs proves it
Charge It 2 The Game was the first CD I ever bought
No limit just him pushed when they had better spitters like
Mac
Magic
Mystikal
C murder
Mia X
Big ed
The worst rappers ever are here now.
DAMN, I didn't know P sold the catalog, I never understood why someone would want to own someone else's creativity?
They always gave Silk the best No Limit beats! Other guys on the label would have destroyed those beats!
I have to agree with you his first two albums especially the first one had some of the best production of any no limit album. I’m not a silk hater. He was cool/ original.. but I can only imagine what Mac could have done with those beats on silkks first 2 albumz
“Fuck that, you came short on my dough, cut off one of your fingers send it in the mail, don’t have my money by 12 send the other four” Sulk the Shocker💎
He was pretty trash by 98 standards IMO. With that being said I could literally name 100 rappers that came out within the last 3 years let alone 10 who make silk the shocker sound like rakim.
say the list?
Yea he wasn't great but unlike the clowns today he had some swag and his own style
He's the poster child for the phrase being at the right place at the right time.
I grew up on Silk and NoLimit. In highschool a couple of females would say I looked like him lol. Wore the skullie with the shades and the fatigues all of that bullshit lol. I thought I was a NoLimit soldier. I fucks with silk, nigga was the man at one point. You can’t take that away from him.
Facts if you notice a lot of the hate is same person with the same person writing in every person‘s comment saying that he was trash. Sounds personal to me like his girlfriend must’ve done a mic check with Silkk and he still bitter
Man… “Moving On” used to be my jam. I remember listening to it on big oversized headphones on marching band trips back in the day.
I grew up on no limit .. he always been 🔥
It was a bunch of niggas on his team better than him...just saying...
His first album The Shocker was one of the hardest No Limit albums out ever and one if my favorite albums
Silk shouldn't be on no worst rapper list he made a impact in the game infact rappers are using his on beat off beat style now he's 1 of my favorites salute Silk ....ohh yeah 🎩
Who can I trust off charge it to the game
Imagine if Silkk and Blue collabed on a track
Fire...😂😂😂
"Silkk The Shocker" has Always been 'My Top 5 Lyricist & Inspiration Of All~Time, Fam. Big Facts, tho.👑☝🏼🏆🌷💎💖💗💖💛🌉🗺💫🕊
My opinion
He's not the worst
His first album is cool
I know you mostly do Hip Hop BUT I'd LOVE a "The Darkness" video. I thought that band was gonna be huge when " I believe in a thing called love" came out. Apparently it was drug problems but idk.
It Ain't My Fault goes hard 🎧🔥
It's funny how people get on Silk for being off beat, but the never mention RZA. I use to get pissed listening to RZA sometimes.
The C.D. where he's popping out the T.V. Slaaaaaaaaps the whole C.D. Got Beat n his Flow Goooooooo!!!!
Still bumps
BBTP laced him with some 🔥 beatz
I'd love to see your take on Mystikal which in my opinion was the most unique and lyrical of No Limit... besides when Snoop came along of course
The worst rapper is 69 in history
I thought it was Lil B
In 7th grade I was blasting my world, my way on my headphones. My principal waved me down. I said “what’s up?”
He said let me see that cd. You can’t be listening to explicit music in here. If this has a parental advisory sticker I’m taking it.
There was so many damn features in the description sticker on the case, that they made the parental advisory sticker extra small on my copy.
“I guess I was mistaken.” Hands it back.
Me “that’s cool!”
Ha! That album sucked compared to his earlier releases. The track with Pharrell was probably the best one.
Silk was dope, end of discussion 💯
Silk was a doper rapper, he was before his time, dope rapper, I still listen to Silk.
Ludacris and Cassidy on the list but no lil Zane 🤔🤔🤔🤔
the thing that never gets brought up is that e40 & suga free also crammed more words than needed in a bar & are still out here, they just didnt have that staccato flow
He came to my city to perform back in 2019 and not only was he a TERRIBLE performer but he also did not acknowledge or engage with the paying customers (fans) at all..that kinda says a lot about him. I'm good on him now
Sounds like He thought He was better than everybody because his older Brother was Master P and He put Him in a position to be successful...He would have probably been a one hit wonder if He would got a deal on his own...No Superstar features on his albums or movie roles...He should have been humble but on the real, C Murder deserved to be more successful than Silkk...He repped for the streets...maybe a little too hard and got caught up in some BS!
Silk was like the crunchy black of three six mafiA. He stayed in his lane he was harder than today's music and his verses was him all the way. Never been on a worst rapper list in my book
I don't care what nobody say son Charge it to the Game was dope one of my favorite no limit tapes
great content as always, but i find it almost impossible to watch your videos, because as they’re supposed to be about music, each clip is at almost a polar opposite volume level than the previous
