I love how in his videos complete strangers just come together for a moment and they talk to each other like they really know each other. So nice to see.

I remember when this first came out. I was about 13....and it was simply the greatest thing I'd ever seen. I've seen this special probably 10 times over the years since, but it never gets old. :)
Just saw David talk about this scene on Hot Ones, apparently the network didn't want to air it because they thought it was boring. David says it was it most favorite reaction & how he had to fight to keep the clip in!
He's actually still there to this day. He's in his early 40s now....but still standing there, with his hand out...just staring at it. He's become a popular tourist spot...people taking photos and whatnot. Good guy. ^_^
David Blaine said recently that his favourite trick reaction ever was that kid’s nonchalant “…cool”. He thought it was brilliant. Just makes me admire David even more!
This is great because now we have the luxury of playing it 10 times in a row to see what he did. Im not a magician but I can see how some of these tricks are done. I have a new appreciation for him now.
this one was done with a quarter that is in his pocked and he switched it out and the quarter is design with a spring so it will spring back. i seen how this one was done and the quarter used but otherwise i would have never known.
I remember watching this on a crappy CRT telly at home in Birmingham City (Chelmsley Wood) back in the 90's - I was blown away then, the same I was blown away just now when the YT algo dropped it into my lap in 2021.
@@thewind6047 I was just going to say that I’m even more impressed on how he pulled off the trick then the trick itself. That’s some fine tuned motor skills
So, I don't know if anyone will see this, but I remember watching this special many many times when it was on tv. There is a song that came up in this special "Street Magic" and the song was if you want me to stay by sly and the family stone. I swear that I have searched for the scene in this special and can not find it. Does anyone else remember the song and the scene? I can't seem to find a sale for the special anywhere. I downloaded street magic and magic man together from a torrent the other day and that scene is still not in it. If anyone can help me find a full version with that song and scene in it please let me know. I'm going crazy trying to find it. Thank you for uploading this! So many good memories of me sitting in front of the tv and watching this and loving every minute of it. How I miss these times. Even the vibe of everyone in the city and locations were so unique back in the day. This special captures it so well. Such a positive vibe.
I'm not sure how he does the wide shots where the camera is clearly filming his feet. I suspect those might be insert shots, ya know....for coverage. But the actual levitation he does in front of people IS a very convincing illusion if you pull it off just right. I'll do it for people occasionally and every so often it will BLOW someone's mind to pieces. The real trick is...convincing them your energy is drained and you can't do it a second time...lol. Because inevitably they'll be fascinated and want you to do it again....where they'll inevitably want to take a much closer look, alter their angle of view, etc. And we can't be having that!
One thing I thought I always think when coming back to this video is in the beginning around 2 and a half minutes in, he says he’s in Times Square, “no boxes no stages just people…. And me” always made me think that even he himself don’t consider himself human sometimes😂
i swear this is a true story, this was maybe 8 years ago but me and my family were at a mexican restaurant and there was a magician there.. he was doing a few trick (keep in mind we are sitting down the whole time).. he does a card trick on me and acts like he messed up.. he told me to check my back pocket and i swear on my grandmothers grave that card was in my pocket
When this dude levitates it seems like he always gets sick or gets really weak and almost passes out…is this spiritual/demonic possession and that’s how he gets of the ground or what? I don’t see any other explanation other than that
It would appear that with the levitation he needs the energy of multiple other people being nearby to do it. Very interesting. His level of spiritual enlightenment is remarkable.
Damn I wonder what David blane looks like now considering this was baby Leonardo DiCaprio. Could Google it, but I wouldnt be surprised if he looks the same, ma fuckas magic and all
So far ahead of his time. He was doing youtube content before youtube existed.
Man fr 🐐
Same with Jackass
The 90s were the best. No one had phones out, people talked to each other. I want a magic trick that can give us that back
I got you. Just move to Amish country!

yeh but NYC is like that more than other cities, people might seem like they don't want to talk but mostly it's cos they're in a hurry
its 2020 an he jus got me with a card trick in 1996 im stunned
jay rich yo I’ve never even considered that. 🤯
Check again in 40 years, he'll get you again.
It's wild, isn't it...how the video doesn't change over time?
I'm glad David is still doing this stuff, he's so unique.
Dude, the craziest part about this now is watching how simple everyone dressed in the 90’s
