Okay, they will never top this. Not only is Blaine a lover of wings, unimpressed by the hottest of peppers (unless he palmed that last one) and a terrific magician, but he also comes across as genuine, engaging and just plain fun. The conversation was terrific. I not only enjoyed it, I learned some stuff. Bravo and congrats to everyone who worked on this.

The real magic trick was making it seem like Sean was the newbie and guest at hot ones. David wasn't even shook from da bomb. And after all that , Sean's face after eating that pepper compared to David. What a true showman

I think he was glad to have an interview that somewhat ressembeled some of his performance, so was given the opportunity to perform in a way, eat which he loves and answer interesting questions at the same time.

Dude found a way to love pain. It's like his brain translates translate pain into "interesting", so he can approach it with curiosity rather than dread. That's the real magic.
This episde really reminds of the Tony Hawk one chip challenge tbh. Both can suffer through immense pain but don't show it cause they've endured it or mentally prepared. Amazing interview either way :)
@@claytheist6736 Pain at the foundational level is a physical response. Nerve endings send signals to your brain that they have been activated by certain stimuli. But your reaction to/processing of pain is entirely emotional. If everyone can ignore pain to a certain individual level then the idea that some people can ignore pain to an extreme level, particularly if they train to do so, is entirely plausible. As with all feats of rationality overcoming emotion, preparation is key. Mr. Blaine is a master of the art in this respect.
Have you seen the Buddhist monk who doused himself with gasoline and blaze himself to death as a form of protest? It was also used as an album cover of the band rage against the machine.
David might not mention it because maybe that wasn't his image he's trying to portray but he might have transcended Human suffering.
There was also an interview footage somewhere here in youtube together with his Mentor Paul Harris that they've comeup with the "street magic tv special" when they were both on "Shrooms" and was originally called the concept of that TV Special as "The Urban Shaman"

It was amazing to see Sean going for the milk and David just laughing, kind of what you would expect from a legend. He made it all look like peanuts … one of my fav episodes.
Blaine's mental strength is incredible. The ability to control his physical reactions with his mind is so impressive.
He definitely practiced for this, which I honestly respect.

The dude broke the world record for holding your breath underwater and did it for 17 minutes. This was before attempting it after staying under water for 7 days. He was determined to break the world record when he failed it after the 7 day trick BY LITERALLY DROWNING.

I think this is one of my favorite episodes. Sean was in the hot seat without even realizing it.
His mental strength is just unbelievable, Smacked through the gauntlet, slathered the last wing with the hottest sauce and smacked a carolina reaper in the end just to top it all off.

i'm so happy he fought for "cool" kid because it's by far one of the most memorable reactions in the whole special. I think because it's so soft but genuine, and that kinda sparks your imagination on how he really feels about it -- and to me the look on his face seems like he's about to get into magic!
same I remember being a kid watching that special and laughing so hard when that kid just said cool! its always stuck in my mind when I see David Blaine. It makes me happy that it was his decision to keep the kid in the episode!

Cant say I've watched loads of David's interviews but on the run up to his Ascension stunt I watched his Joe Rogan podcast, he's great on that too, a similar vibe to this I guess - definitely worth a watch.

I love after he said that Sean went like, well.... he was like uh hold on i wouldn't say THATS why we still have Da Bomb haha i got it at buckees not knowing what it was and put it all over a breakfast burrito. Eyes were crying, nose was running down my face, had to stop put it in park and get bottled water from the trunk, chugged like 3 bottles cars honking at me.... wife knew what it was and didnt tell me. She thought it was funny, still havent gotten her back. A heads up would have been nice
David Blaine is someone that would have been elite in anything he chose, he's just powerful.
I have many favorites but this one with David is my top one! He’s not only a sweetheart and respectful but his mental control to pain is amazing.

This was one of the top all time episodes ever. David Blaine seemed so wholesome and down to Earth, just a pleasure to watch. Also, he took those wings down like a champ.

Just found this episode. This is my favorite thus far. Love so many episodes but David is such a genuine happy and nice guy, he made it a great interview.

It's fascinating, every time I hear a David Blane interview he makes it sound like everyone can do it if he just trains enough, sometimes I'm not sure if he is aware that he is actually special. I swear, unless there is some absolute voodoo thing somewhere that I don't know about, I could train mind over body until I collapse and I could never do the things he does.

when he was doing his traveling show i went and saw it... after the finale a bunch of people got up to leave and he sat on the stage and took questions and did a few more tricks and was really cool!
What an awesome episode. Great questions by Sean. David handled those wings like a boss! I hope he returns to the show in the future.
David Blaine has monk-like pain tolerance and focus, so incredible and special to see. He's an extremely wholesome person as well, always wants to share laughter and magic with everyone around him. I get so jealous of anyone getting to have a conversation or get to experience his magic up-close.

This is my third watch of this episode today - Everything is just spot-on perfect; from Sean's questions to his reactions, to the Master David Blaine's responses and his excitement; overall one of the best episodes with a Magic Trick to boot! Well done Hot Ones team - you guys are all incredible!
This may be the most I've ever seen Sean thrown off his game. Not in a bad way, but in like a pure reverent way. He was in awe of how David took everything. And when DB did the magic trick, it was like we got to watch what Sean was like as a kid...his smile was so genuine. Bravo for the first guest!!
I know right! Seeing him giggling uncontrollably when the pepper was cut open, so genuine it eliminates the chance of the trick being scripted. David Blaine is something else!

When he cut the pepper open and David showed Sean that the piece of the card was inside, Sean should have just sat there in silence for about 20 seconds and then said "Cool."

@@Amadeus2054 I think I have it figured out. The card was pre-selected by David. He had 2 other cards like it already torn the exact same way and put into the peppers, probably through the stem that was glued back on. David used mind tricks to have Sean pick that card by having it already presented out then asked back and forth to make it seem like Sean actually picked the card. The card was already pre-torn or perforated to have that shape. David actually ate the card then had both peppers with a backup card. That is why it took David longer to chew his pepper because it had part of a card in it too. The trick comes from the illusion of choice that Sean thought he had when picking cards.
Dude the fact that David didn't even flinch a little bit after eating the reaper is beyond impressive. Truly a master of magic and mind over matter. Love him. Great episode.

@@DanLyndon personally I think that hot wings started coming out of his sleeves once he left the cameras and other eyes from seeing. Last thing to fall out was the actual Reaper Pepper.
Never get into a pepper eating contest with a magician...for all we know David some how put both peppers into the Sean's mouth.

Always gotta respect the celebrities who keep themselves humble and appear to have an almost kid-like joyfulness and excitement to them. Puts things into perspective that there's always so much joy to find in life and the journey is half (if not more) the fun of it all.

There is never a time as long as I can remember I haven’t absolutely loved watching David Blaine just do what does. You knew after the first few he wasn’t going to give an extreme reaction in front of everyone, especially when they offered him the sundae you knew he wasn’t going to take it. As long as a camera is on he is in magic man mode. He literally lives his act. And it is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.
I love how David always just stares at you after he produces the trick. Just stares and watches you react.

That kid who said "cool" so calmly yet somehow excited after davids trick is honestly one of the most genuine reactions i've ever seen to be fair

It's one of those things, I feel like that "cool" was rich with subtext. I don't know if subtext is the right word.

David is also defying the hotness without seemingly any difficulty. He is an anomoly for sure and it was a treat to have him on, being so relaxed and intriqueing at the same time.
Wow, this one was really great, I think out of all the Hot Ones I've seen so far, I've never been more pumped for the guest enjoying the wings so much!

One of the best hot ones eps I’ve seen! Sean never fails to ask genuinely exciting questions but this one was so enjoyable to watch! David reactions tho were just sublime if he’s ever invited back he needs a dab in every wing. The trick at the end I think literally anyone in Sean’s shoes would of had the same reaction, reaper in mouth or not. Great ep thanks guys

This quickly became my all time favorite episode, David's joy and positive energy is so obvious and contagious.
